POLL: What’s Your Favorite New Song Of May 2022?

line
One song to rule them all.

May 2022 saw major releases from the likes of Belle Mariano, KDLex, SB19’s Ken, Taylor Swift, and many more. Which one stood out as your favorite?

When looking back at May 2022, one could sum it all up as a whirlwind, and despite it all, the thing that helped us get throught it was music. Music has always been there for us during the good and the bad, and now more than ever, we turned to it to calm us, drown out the noise, or just dance. And scoping through the releases of May 2022, it sure was a busy 31 days. Albums, singles, and EPs all came our way, some of which are still staples of our playlist.

But with all the songs that dropped, we wanted to know, which one was your favorite of the month? Which track was your LSS? Vote in the poll below. Unlimited voting is allowed. The poll ends on July 5, 9 AM.

12 of The Best Beats and ‘Dos We’ve Seen At The NYLON Big Bold Brave Awards Night

line
Face card never declines.

It was a wild, wild night.

Just when you thought it was over, we had to round up the best beauty looks and hair styles we’ve seen at the NYLON Manila Big Bold Brave Awards Night. Very on theme and very EXTRA, these stars went all out and nailed the visual department in all aspects. In no particular order, here are the best beats and ‘dos of the night, from Frankie Pangilinan’s bedazzled eye makeup to Paul Pablo’s purple look.

PAUL PABLO’S PURPLE BEAT

We can’t think of anybody else who went big, bold and brave that night other than Paul Pablo’s overall look. From his outfit to the purple blush, eyeshadow, and lips, glammed by Ru Artistry of MUD Studio, it was what? Giving.

MIMIYUUUH’S SPIKY HALF UPDO

We’re used to seeing Mimi’s signature bob, but it’s fun to see her switch it up with long hair extensions these days. She conjured up a storm with her spiky half updo styled by Mycke Arcano and reverse cat eye makeup painted by Janell Capuchino. Plus points for the blue flaming nails.

MAXINE TRINIDAD’S NO RED FLAG

Maxine Trinidad showed us an edgier side with her space buns, bushy brows, and red eye makeup with a glossy lip. Our favorite part? The spiky under eyelashes lined with hints of silver.

FRANKIE PANGILINAN’S EVERYDAY MAKEUP

Of course, who could forget Frankie Pangilinan? The girl always brings something to the table, especially with her flushed look and what she now considers her “everyday makeup” that’s dazzling with rhinestones and a sharp winged liner. Yes, she did it all by herself.

AMANDA ZAMORA’S PURPLE CAT-EYE

The higher the hair, the closer to God. Amanda Zamora added a pop of color to her metallic outfit with a purple eyeliner doubled with a subtle wing to extend her lids.

MASSIAH’S SUBTLE EYE MAKEUP

nylon manila big bold brave awards night party

NGL, it was fresh seeing a rapper like Massiah experimenting with eye makeup and it’s not even the first time. For his performance at BBB night, makeup artist Roshni Hemlani added tiny rhinestones on his eyes for a subtle shine.

NADINE LUSTRE

The beauty of having your hair colored is realizing that the limit does not exist for playful looks that you have to try. Channeling her inner 90s supermodel, Nadine Lustre’s copper hair is pulled into a Pam Anderson inspired updo by hairstylist Rhod Rubia.

KRYSTAL BRIMNER’S PURPLE EYELINER

To match her iridescent outfit, Krystal Brimner’s makeup was taken to the next level with pink eyeshadow and a purple liner by Roshni Hemlani, and half-up pigtails curled by Missy Rivera. Perfect for her performance at the NYLON Big Bold Brave Awards. Period.

ANGIA LAUREL’S BLUNT BANGS

For a makeup maven like Angia Laurel, it’s easy to go wild on your beauty look. She balances her snatched eye makeup with blunt bangs pulled into a low bun at the NYLON Big Bold Brave Awards.

RRULES RIYO’S FLIPPED ENDS

When R Rules’ Riyo showed up to at the NYLON Big Bold Brave Awards red carpet, we were all in awe of her cool, confidence. But it was her flipped ends that really got our hearts.

AWRA BRIGUELA’S LOW PONY AND LAID EDGES

One of the best beauty looks of the night? Awra Briguela with that bold smokey eye. Nails done, face beat, edges laid. Purr.

MAYMAY’S BABY HAIR

Probably one of the freshest faces in showbiz, Maymay proves that she’s truly a ✨kabogera.✨ Her glam team nailed her NYLON Big Bold Brave Awards look with peachy makeup by Owen Sarmiento and mermaid waves stylized with baby hair by Angel Jamelarin.

ICYMI, Here’s What Went Down At The NYLON Manila Big Bold Brave Awards Night

line
To more nights like this.

The popcorn was popping and the stars were partying during NYLON Manila’s first ever Big Bold Brave Awards Night and party.

Related: Here’s What To Expect At The NYLON Manila Big Bold Brave Awards Night

The reviews are in. The NYLON Manila Big Bold Brave Awards Night was a box-office success. As the culmination night of the Big Bold Brave Awards: The Sequel, it was a moment of fun and celebration as we recognized the nominees, awarded the winners, and danced the night away. And the event feels extra special because this was our first IRL event since we launched in November 2020. Thank you to everyone who attended and to the fans who made all of this possible. Held at House Manila last June 24, it was a night to just let loose in the presence of stars, champions, and friends. If you’re curious to know happened during the Awards Night, we’ve got you covered. Here’s what went down.

ARRIVAL OF STARS

As the day turned into night, stars, personalities, friends, and guests all arrived one by one to House Manila for the special awards night. With the theme of Big/Bold, the guests showed up and showed out in their best oversized and maximalist fits as they took pictures by the entrance. The House Manila lobby looked like clear night sky as many stars dazzled, mingled, and caught up with their fellow stars.

Imagine Awra Briguela and Argie Roquero serving bestie energy and Rob Blackburn sharing his admiration to Maymay Entrata, except that it really happened. They then made their way down to the event area with movie tickets in hand, taking their seats at their respective tables for the hottest premiere night of the year. Complimentary buckets of popcorn and welcome drinks were served to our guests so that they can get ready for the movie premiere.

THE PROGRAM

The event began with a special opening number from Krystal Brimner, who was also the host for the night, as she performed her single Let Me Be Me. Afterwards, NYLON Manila’s Editor-in-Chief Angelo Ramirez de Cartagena, overwhelmed with the show of love delivered the opening remarks as he thanked the guests for coming and the fans for their support with over 20 million votes counted across all categories. “If I could hug each and every one of you tonight, I would and probably will,” he said. True enough, the night progressed to many handshakes, hugs, and dance-offs, but we’re getting ahead of the story.

And then it was time to recognize the nominees as we announced the winners of the Big, Bold, and Brave categories. Each category had a movie trailer-like video to announce the winners with those in attendance heading to the stage to receive their custom-made 3D-printed trophy from Superpixels. Seeing Nadine Lustre and Sassa Gurl on the same stage was like seeing two queens together.

After the recognition of winners, Paul Pablo then took to the stage to deliver a fierce performance of his new pop track, Di Inakala. Of course, we wouldn’t ask our guest to show up in their take on Big and Bold for nothing. NYLON Manila’s Fashion and Beauty Editor Lyn Alumno named the winner of the Best Beauty Look presented by BYS, which went to Mimiyuuuh. Many stars served looks that night but the YouTuber stunned in a silver and denim ensemble and took home a care package courtesy of the brand.

NYLON Manila’s Brand Associate Elyse Ilagan then gave the closing remarks by once again thanking the guests and fans for the love and support and looked forward to the Big Bold Brave Awards in the years to come. And, as a final treat, the final performers of the night, Careless Music’s Jolianne and Massiah took to the stage. Jolianne served enchanting vocals while Massiah brought the island energy and vibes.

AFTER PARTY

And like with all great parties, the NYLON Manila Big Bold Brave Awards Night Party ended with an after party as guests enjoyed themselves with an open bar ready to serve drinks and a buffet table for snacks with DJ Patty Tiu, Hannah Ichiko, and MC Ice making sure the dance floor was well occupied and well, giving. Aside from cocktails and snacks, guests also enjoyed Heineken beers courtesy of Heineken Philippines.

The whole Careless Manila table was a mood while PBB Teens’ Luke, Gabb, Rob, Stef, Maxine, Ashton, and Eslam were having the time of their lives. P-pop groups like VXON, LITZ, and MNL48 caught up with the other celebrity guests in their color-coordinated fits while Sassa Gurl served Lil Kim with glam lasting all night. Your faves also have their faves, which is why we spotted a few of them taking the opportunity to talk to and take pics with their idols. Same tbh. And before guests left, they took home loot bags and goodies, a NYLON Manila shirt courtesy of Skoop and makeup products from Vice Cosmetics.

The NYLON Manila Big Bold Brave Awards Night Party was truly memorable, especially seeing all the videos and photos from the fun night. Thank you once again to those who went, the fans, and to everyone who helped make the event possible. This party was just the beginning, so gear up for bigger, bolder, and braver things in the near future.

Photo credits to Daryl Nacario, Mike Gella, and Jan Mayo.

We would like to thank our event partners who made the Big Bold and Brave awards – The Sequel possible: Our major sponsor BYS, Skoop, Heineken, Vice Cosmetics, Superpixels, and our official venue partner House Manila.

A Game Of D&D? Donny Pangilinan And Dave Ildefonso Test Their Basketball Skills In Their First Collab

line
This has been brought to by the letter D.

Donny Pangilinan going 1-on-1 with Dave Ildefonso in the basketball court? Ask, and you shall receive as these two heartthrobs meet on the court for the first time.

Related: 9 Moments When Dave, Shaun, and Pia Ildefonso Were Major Sibling Goals

At first glance, it might seem like Donny Pangilinan and Dave Ildefonso are from two different worlds. Donny is one of the hottest stars of today who can act, sing, and dance. As for Dave, he comes from sports royalty and is one of the biggest young basketball stars in the country, as well as a member of Gilas Pilipinas. But when you look beyond the surface, the two share quite a few things in common. One of that being, aside from acting, Donny is also a talented basketball player and used to play varsity when he was studying in Brent. Donny and Dave are also internet sensations with legions of fans. With all that said, the basketball aficionados got to test their skills in a head-to-head challenge on the court.

KINGS OF THE COURT

As part of Clear’s All-Day Unstoppable Challenge, Donny was tasked to take on a real baller to check if his B-ball skills are really up to the task. And his opponent was none other than ADMU Blue Eagles star Dave Ildefonso. The two had 10 minutes to one up the other in a game of H.O.R.S.E. As expected, Dave was a natural pro in the game, though Deib Enrile was no slouch either. But above all, the two looked like they were having fun, which is whole spirit of the game. We’re just going to assume that Dave and Donny are now basketball besties who hopefully shoot some hoops together every now and then.

The whole video was like watching an episode of Slam Dunk as the two six-foot players showcased their impressive basketball skills. And of course, just seeing Donny and Dave together was a feast for the visual senses. Donny and Deib in the same frame? Yes, it’s finally a reality. This also will probably be one of the few times you’ll see Donny Pangilinan look short in a video given how tall Dave is.

We’ll be hoping the full 10-minute game of this unexpected, but very much welcome collab gets released. Now, the only thing we need now is for Donny and Dave to have a full length game against one another. It could be like Donny and friends vs. UAAP basketball players. That’s a game we would pay to see.

@bondellepie DEIB AND DAVE ? #donnypangilinan #daveildefonso #donbelle #fyp ♬ BMW – Khalifa Boi ???

Check out their mini match below. And, if you’re interested in seeing more of the cast of He’s Into Her shoot some hoops, Kaori Irving aka Kaori Oinuma recently posted a video of her playing basketball with River Joseph and Argel Saycon.

The Round-Up: The Best New Music Drops Of The Week That You’ll Be Playing On Repeat

line
Dance to Beyoncé or cry to Ben&Ben.

What do Jungkook, Taylor Swift, Nayeon, Beyonce, BINI, and Ben&Ben all have in common? They all dropped new music this week.

Related: The Round-Up: The Best Recent Song Releases To Start Of Your June On The Right Note

Something must have been in the water as the final full week of June really gave us all the bops, smashes, and everything in between. Already, the past week was filled with news to make any concert goer happy as Billie Eilish, TREASURE, BamBam, Jackson Wang, and TXT all announced concerts in Manila. NCT Dream also announced the first date of their new tour, so you probably know what that means.

We got comeback announcements from WINNER and Super Junior while some people really had the nerve to call BTS selfish for focusing on their solo work. The ‘97 female line, aka Lisa, Jihyo, Mina, and Minnie, blessed us with cute photos of their friendship that helped end fan wars. And when you add all the new music releases that landed on the internet, it made for a fun week to say the least. There’s a lot to get into so here are our picks of the new music drops of the week that will probably go to your On Repeat section.

LEFT AND RIGHT – CHARLIE PUTH AND JUNGKOOK

The collab of the year (so far) is finally here with the much teased Left and Right finally hitting our playlists. A team up between Charlie Puth and Jungkook, the track is a playful pop song that sees the two musicians sing about an ex who still follows their thoughts left and right. It’s an addicting song and both sound so good, but we love most with how the “I can feel you over here” is heard when you hear it with headphones. This is the first solo activity for BTS since their announcement, and let’s just say we can’t wait for this new era.

CAROLINA – TAYLOR SWIFT

For those who’ve seen The Summer I Turned Pretty, you probably are on a Taylor Swift binge thanks to the soundtrack. And lucky for you, she has new music out with the release of her new song, Carolina. The touching and atmospheric song is like the child of Evermore, Folklore, and Safe and Sound. The track tells a tale of a girl stuck between two world, one who wants to be free but at the same time is still tied to her roots. The song also serves as part of the OST for the upcoming movie adaptation of Where The Crawdads Sings, whose plot is very much similar to the song’s story.

POP! – NAYEON

TWICE’s NAYEON really said the summer ain’t over until I say so. She recently made a major milestone when she became the first member of TWICE to release solo music with the release of her solo album IM NAYEON. POP! serves as the lead single and it’s the definition of summer fun. The seven-track album is also a worthy listen at it straddles between bouncy pop like her collab with Stray Kids’ Felix in NO PROBLEM and smooth R&B-like SUNSET.

BREAK MY SOUL – BEYONCE

Beyonce really said quit your job and just dance, and we just might. The queen is back with new music and this time we get her take on disco and club beats for a banger on living your life and freedom from the shackles of unfair labor. We also love how she sampled Robin S and Big Freedia in Break My Soul. If this is how the rest of the album is going to sound like, July 29 can’t come soon enough.

LANGYAN PAG-IBIG – BEN&BEN

Mixing tarot cards and heartbreak, Ben&Ben wades through a bad breakup on angsty rock anthem with their new track, Langyang Pag-ibig. Don’t listen to the track unless you’re in the mood to feel things at the song articulates one’s feelings of being betrayed in all its aching messiness and honesty. Ben&Ben take on the persona of someone whose breakup leaves them with anger as they struggle to put their life back on track. It’s another serve from Ben&Ben, but do they really have to hurt us like that?

YOUNG – KRYSTAL BRIMNER

For her second single, teen star Krystal Brimner uses her talents for good by making makes a statement for her fellow youth who are still figuring out with her song Young. The feel-good dance pop song, composed by fellow Kapamilya talent SAB and produced by Star Pop label head Rox Santos, encapsulates the highs and lows of being young especially in the age of social media, where many aspire to portray a perfect life and live up to society’s standards without much room for mistakes.

LIFE’S TOO SHORT – AESPA

Aespa has a message for their fans, get a life please. Taking a break from their more hard-hitting tracks, aespa treats us to a heartwarming track called Life’s Too Short. The whole track serves as their biggest clapback yet to their haters as they sing about the hate and drama that comes their way. But even with all that, they still do what they do so why should they stop. It’s a touching song that anyone going through a bad time can find comfort in.

LAGI – BINI

BINI’s sweet charms are on showcase once more with their new song Lagi. The cute pop track is a love song about falling in love as the girls of BINI go head over heels for a potential flame. The song’s fun vibe reminds us of their other love songs like Na Na Na and Kinikilig which means it’s a bop.

ANGHEL – ZACK TABUDLO

While Ben&Ben may be hurting us, Zack Tabudlo is here to mend a broken heart. He surprised us this week with a new haircut and a new era which means we’re getting new music. And just like that, he dropped his latest single Anghel that will have you feeling all the feels. Zack has that secret sauce when it comes to heart touching love songs and its on display once more in the track. In it, Zack implores a significant other to not put herself down because she doesn’t see the herself as the angel Zack does. (Sana all.) The vocals are on point, lyrics hit in all the right places, and the production fits the song perfectly.

KISLAP – JIKAMARIE

jikamarie takes on a sentimental nostalgia ride to the 80s with her new song KISLAP. The 80s-inspired dream-pop track was based on a crush she had back then and narrates a story of a doomed love. But even if that is so, the song expresses one more night with that person as you forget about what could happen and just enjoy the moment. The song feels ripped straight from a rom-com as it may just make you emotional for remembering the good times.

DISASTER – CONAN GRAY

Conan Gray is ready to get personal on a low chapter on his life with the recent drop of his excellent new album, Superache. As the name suggest, the album delves into a breakup Conan experienced as he digs deep to tell the story of his failure and even a little bit about his childhood. The end result is a memorable LP of bangers that will hit you in the heart.

SHARKS – IMAGINE DRAGONS

Mixing addicting beats with biting lyrics, Imagine Dragons serves once more with their new single Sharks. The fun and upbeat nature of the track will get you moving as the lyrics narrate a tale of a person who is not the good person as they portray them to be.

REACH THE TOP – VXON

In case you didn’t know, there is currently a P-pop reality competition show currently airing on TV. Top Class follows a set of male trainees as they learn and compete against each other for a chance to debut as a P-pop boy group. And quite fittingly, monster rookie group VXON are the people behind the show’s theme song Reach The Top. The pop/EDM track is a reflection of the goals of the contestants. You can catch Top Class every Saturday on TV5.

BRAT$ DOLL – ZAE

Zae has often used the iconography of Barbie and Bratz Dolls in her music so it only feels right that for her comeback, she treats us to a song called Brat$ Doll. The breakthrough Pinay rapper goes full glam as she delivers fire bars that showcase her rising star status.

UP! – KEP1ER

Kep1er just made their first comeback of their careers and they’re treating us to some summer fun. Up! serves as their comeback single and it’s a fun pop song that feels perfect to soundtrack all the fun adventures you want to have with your friends. They also dropped their new EP DOUBLAST filled with five new tracks to enjoy.

FLIP THAT – LOONA

Speaking of summer, the ladies of LOONA are here to deliver just that with their new EP Summer Special [Flip That]. Flip That serves as the comeback single and it feels like happiness in song form. The pop song with great use of house beats is a fun summer jam with bright colors, an addicting beat, and an uplifting melody.

HIT YA! – LAPILLUS

K-pop is about to get a taste of Pinoy talent as former Star Magic actress Chantal Videla has made her debut with LAPILLUS, the newest girl group from MLD Entertainment. And for their first offering, they give us the hard-hitting HIT YA! that definitely does just that. The intro in particular gives us goosebumps.

27 BODIES – EZ MIL

Hard-hitting raps and honest bars are on deck in Ez Mil’s new song 27 Bodies, his 3rd single off his new album, DU4LI7Y. The track is the rapper’s take on his 24 Bars Challenge as he delivers with energy as well as words that speak to what is happening in today’s society.

LATE TO DA PARTY – LIL NAS X, YOUNGBOY, AND NEVER BROKE AGAIN

Remember when the BET Awards snubbed Lil Nas X at their most recent nominations? Well, the rapper took to social media to express how he really felt about the situation and we finally have the full release of that tease. Late To Da Party is a collaboration between Lil Nax X and YoungBoy and goes as hard as you expect it to.

SUGAR – YOUNGJAE

Youngjae’s solo career continues to shine with the recent release of his new EP, SUGAR and as well as the comeback single of the same name. The pop-rock sun sees the GOT7 member express his love for a potential flame, even if that person isn’t a complete angel. The song’s music video also showcases this fun dynamic as it sees Youngjae recall a wild night out as his eyes were set on that special someone.

LOST ME – GIVEON

R&B Giveon is here to tantalize your ear drums once more with his smooth voice as he recently dropped his third studio album Give Or Take. At 15 songs long, it’s his longest album to date filled with moving R&B bops.

TRUE ROMANCE – TOVE LO

Drama, that’s what Tove Lo’s new song, True Romance, is all about. No beat drops are in sight as the singer enchants us with a tale of destructive love, all told through her strong vocals.

RING THE ALARM – KARD

Underrated K-pop co-ed group KARD has finally made their comeback after one of their members returned from military service. And clearly, they haven’t lost their touch. Serving as their lead comeback single, Ring The Alarm is a refreshing listen as it hits in all the right notes with its mix of pop and island influences. Once you’re done listening to the song, you need to give their new mini album, Re, a play.

He’s Into Her Season 2 Episode 10 Recap And Review: Tayo Pa Ba?

line
That ending scream felt too real.

For episode 10 of He’s Into Her season 2, Deib and Max get into their biggest fight yet. But at least Michiko and Dale are giving us the kilig we need.

Related: He’s Into Her Season 2 Episode 9 Recap And Review: Crying In The Rain

When we ended episode nine, Max and Deib were at a pivotal point in their relationship. Tito Boyet’s secret is now out and Max and Deib sees the situation through different POVs. And with episode 10, we see how this falling out is affecting their relationship. But while TagSen may be going through choppy waters, a new potential couple in the form of Michiko and Dale seems to be brewing, which made for a sweet yet sour episode.

WIDENING FISSURE

Entitled Status: Unsure, the episode begins with Deib defending Max and Elle from the students. But after telling his classmates to stop, he walks off. The two then go to their respective friend groups. Max confides in her friends the pain she’s feeling, but her core group will always be there for her. As for Deib, he’s with Lorde and Lee but experiences what most likely is an anxiety attack. Kim sees this and uses that as her opportunity to strike.

She comes to Deib’s aid and shares how what Deib feels when seeing Max was the same feelings he had when seeing her when they broke up. While Deib isn’t interested in rekindling his romance with Kim, she tells him that she wants to be that shoulder to cry on for Deib, but as a friend. Max and friends see this go down, which causes Max to ask for space for herself. The main gang and Karlie and Khloe then get into a pretty heated argument that included a savage clapback from Elle after Karlie tried to shade her for her family’s history. But before their fight could escalate, they are stopped by the school principal.

GETTING VULNERABLE

Image

Back at the Echavez condo, Max and her family get updates on Boyet’s case. Tito Randall shares that while he has found people who disprove the claims against Boyet, it won’t be enough for Boyet to become a free man, especially after Boyet was accused of shooting Dale two times. All this causes Max to have a mini-meltdown with Randall.

In an emotional scene, Max get’s vulnerable and opens up that she feels as if her entire life is a mistake and questions the decisions she had made. Ever since she arrived in Benison, she has been learning revelations about the people around her that have changed the way she sees the world. She then asks Randall if he has anything life-altering to say to her. He tells Max that the Randall she knew from before is the same Randall now.

On the other side of the fence, we see that Dale has returned home where he and Deib share a brotherly moment. The two open up to one another as Dale asks Deib what he feels about the whole situation. Deib is very much a man of two minds, because while he is hurt by the news, he also doesn’t know what to believe in.

A SPARK OF ROMANCE

But let’s pause on the hurt for now as we get a sweet moment between Dale and Michiko. The two, along with Lorde and Dale’s nurse, are having Michiko’s carrot cake in the backyard. The two exchange stories of how they became friends, but clearly, there was something more brewing. When asked by Lorde what Dale would have done if he wasn’t shot, he says that he would have asked Michiko to be his date to the senior ball. Explaining his decision, he shares that he wouldn’t want to take anyone else but her. And to everyone’s joy, Michiko says she would have accepted being his date. Lorde was very much us when we watched this scene. New couple alert.

Okay, now back to the lovers quarrel as we find Naih and Lee at Benison. Naih is stressing over what’s happening to her friends. But Lee tells her to calm down and let Max and Deib sort it out themselves. The two then get into arguably their biggest fight yet as Naih and Lee bring up the fact that the two seem to be polar opposites. Naih feels that Lee thinks she lacks boundaries while Lee thinks Naih is not supportive of his artistic side. The two manage to get over this impasse, but it does make you think how long this peace might last.

As for Kim, she runs into Randall at the café and where we get another round of Kim vs Randall. Kim is happy for what’s happening to Max and Deib, but not Randall as he sees how it’s hurting Max. Kim chides Randall for being too nice while Randall chides her back for being too cold. A fan of Kim’s insinuates that the two are dating which leads to more war of words between them.

TAYO PA BA, DEIB?

Later that night, we find the Enrile family getting updates on the case with Deib’s dad bringing up that he’ll contact Kim’s family to help them look for Boyet. It is here where we get to see the conflict inside Deib as he doesn’t want a full blown manhunt because Tito Boyet might get hurt, an indication that deep inside Deib, he still holds even the smallest of trust for Max. But that trust is about to be tested when he hears an audio recording of Boyet talking about the shooting.

The next day in school, Deib approaches Max at the library and redeems a love coupon, one where she gives him whatever he wants. The scene, with Deib’s hand resting on the bookcase, is reminiscent of a similar iconic scene in season one but in a completely different and more painful context. He asks Max to give him Tito Boyet, which she says no to because she doesn’t know where he is. The heated fight gets brought to the hallway as Deib accuses Max of lying and Max fires back by saying that he doesn’t trust her when she says Boyet is innocent. But Max’s pleas that he’s innocent fall on deaf ears and they end their argument in a stalemate, all of which played out for the for students to see.

Back at home, Max, Zell, and Randall see the new video testament from Boyet’s former accomplice which ties Boyet to shooting Dale twice. That and accompanied by the news that the bounty on Boyet’s head was increased to 5 million pesos leads Max to ask Randall to bring her to the special spot on the hill. There, Max lets out a scream that felt like it came from deep within. Of course, Deib so happens to show up as well and turns on his jealous boyfriend mode to 110%. As the episode comes to a close, Max lets out dagger like words as she asks Deib if they are still an item with all that has been happing to them.

CONFLICTED FEELINGS

What’s interesting about Status: Unsure was that it was an episode in two extremes. On one hand, we saw the fallout between Max and Deib and how its been affecting them physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Both Max and Deib got vulnerable this episode as they opened up about their internal struggle. Max thinks her life is a whole lie while Deib is racked by guilt with a part of him wanting to believe in Max. The scream Max gives at the hill felt personal and Belle Mariano really brought it all out once more. She channeled Max’s pain and frustration in the episode.

But on the other hand, we see the potential blossoming of the relationship between Dale and Michiko. When we saw the potential spark between the two a few episodes ago, we felt that they were going to be the potential surprise couple of the season. And true enough, that may be happening as Dale and Michiko really did a 180* with their character arcs. Turz Daza and Kaori Oinuma are really surprising us with their strong chemistry. We also appreciate how slightly more intense this episode was in terms of raw emotion. Similar to last week’s episode, it added a bit more spice to an already spicy storyline. And speaking of spice, the next episodes are hitting for even rougher waters for TagSen. Will they survive or sink like the Titanic, we’ll have to wait and see.

Lessons On Leadership, As Realized By Asia Leaders Awardee, Archie Carrasco

line
“You must always remember to put your people first.”

Following his distinction as one of the recipients of the prestigious Asia Leaders Awards, Archie Carrasco teaches us what it means to be a leader that matters.

When the pandemic first unleashed its wrath in the awning of the year 2020, and everything was frustratingly uncertain, everyone was faced to make a choice in many facets of their lives: fight or flight?

Understandably, and compounded by circumstance beyond one’s control, there were those compelled to make heartbreaking decisions where it mattered. This period, as Archie Carrasco put its, was “a test of authentic leadership,” which is a phrase the man who has weathered many storms does not take lightly. Where others were scaling down or closing shop, the CEO and Chairman of AGC Power Holdings Corp. was already finding ways to recalibrate his businesses even as the word pivot was becoming a mainstay in many conversations of the time. With the people that work for the many brands, titles, and departments that carry the good name of his company in mind, Archie Carrasco chose to fight.

Even amidst the persistence of the pandemic, the businesses he captained not only survived, but thrived. It is for these contributions, as well as of so many more over the years that earned Archie Carrasco the distinction of being one of the country’s top leaders and innovators as named by the prestigious Asia Leaders Awards. Not only is the award-giving body built to recognize the best of the best, but it also honors those making a difference not only within their respective industries, but for also promoting the Philippines as a worthy business hub in Asia and beyond.

On Leadership That Matters

Just like with anyone searching for the light at the end of the tunnel, it wasn’t easy for Archie Carrasco, and together with his team and the people he works with, he soldiered on. Employing a people first principle in the work he does everyday, Archie Carrasco was not only able to save his company, but sought to ensure the welfare of his employees and families. And against all odds, he kept everyone, including himself, above the testy waters.

“Not doing what everyone else is doing is the secret,” begins Archie Carrasco. “Limiting yourself to the status quo won’t work. Instead, one should project what makes you unique from others, and that’s how the world will notice your efforts.” And notice the country did, with the consistent and compelling efforts stemming from AGC Power Holdings Corp., which carries with it, among others, One Mega Group and Mega Global Licensing Inc. Befitting to be lauded as one of the 15 Rising Tigers and Nation Builders for the Men and Women Who Matter List of 2022, he has exceeded expectations despite the limits of the global crisis, making an impact, and inspiring others.

But for Archie Carrasco, this nod is much more than himself, but instead is a culmination of his years working hard and pushing beyond the known boundaries. He also counts very important people who helped shaped the man that he is now in the industry: Frances J. Yu, former AVP for Marketing of Rustan’s, and the late founder of One Mega Group, Sari V. Yap. It is through their guidance that he was able to realized and see something greater than he ever thought of at the onset, and today, he continues to dream big as the great leader and visionary of the much more expansive AGC Power Holdings Corp.

To Continued Success

As the energy of the world shifts, this time with more consideration for passion and purpose, Archie Carrasco says that in the pursuit of progress, one has to lean in to change, especially in business. “Always prepare your business for the future. During unpredictable times such as the global pandemic, no one could have anticipated the economic toll it took on businesses,” he explains. Naturally, the stakes are higher, and this time, he is committed to taking what is the best of the country in media, marketing, and advertising to the global stage.

“I am fortunate to have an incredibly innovative and high-functioning team behind me. It was through their unwavering support, hard work and dedication that our company was able to expand and evolve despite the limitations brought by our current situation,” asserts Archie Carrasco, which he underscores is a crucial component to his continuing success. “At the end of the day, the true meaning of success is your level of happiness dictated by what you have achieved and how you have inspired those around you. It is important to keep in mind that above all your successes, you must always remember to put your people first.”
