you really don't know your idols

On Boundaries And Fandom: You Really Don’t Know Who Your Idols Are

line
Disappointing, to say the least.

Putting boundaries with how you stan your fave idols doesn’t make you any less of a fan.

Related: 6 Red Flags Every Stan Should Avoid

By now, you’ve probably heard the news about NCT’s Taeil. But in case you haven’t yet, the K-pop idol was recently removed from both NCT and SM Entertainment after the company released a statement saying that the K-pop idol was “accused in a criminal case in relation to a sexual crime”. If you know SM Entertainment, you know that they’re either slow to act or are willing to go the distance with some their idols who have been accused of misdeeds. So the fact that Taeil was removed that quickly must have been serious.

Understandably, the situation, which has been under police investigation for months, has left many K-pop fans shocked considering Taeil was widely seen as unproblematic in his years as an idol. But with his banishment from the industry comes another sobering reminder that, at the end of the day, we really do not know our idols and that we should put an asterisk on the unyielding support we give to our faves.

YOU DON’T KNOW THEM

It’s no secret that K-pop thrives off building parasocial relationships with fans. Through content released by idols and companies, fans get to feel that they know their biases on a personal level, which helps push them to buy their albums, merch, and concert tickets. But when you think about it, do you really know your idols? What you know about your idols is just what you see online and there will always be sides to them you never see.

K-pop, after all, is still an industry, and there is some degree of manufactured personas and personalities at play. Fan familiarity and the idol persona are a powerful combo that makes us think that they could never do it. But they can, and thinking otherwise can blind us to the fact that we are allowed to and should hold them accountable.

Behind closed doors, we don’t know what they do, say, think, believe, or feel. Yes, that’s their private lives and they aren’t obliged to tell the world about it. But at the same time, this also is a reminder that we shouldn’t always put our faves on pedestals and see them as people who can do no wrong. And the reality is that there can be and are probably more problematic idols out there. That isn’t to say every idol is bad. We all wish the artists we follow are good people. But they are still people, and sadly, that means they are fallible.

Also, this should not be used as an opportunity to dunk on former fans of Taeil. This isn’t about you proving that you’re morally superior because that isn’t productive to the situation. Don’t invalidate their feelings if they saw him as a role model only to be heartbroken by what’s happened. The blame and focus for a man’s crimes should never be passed on to his fans. They didn’t know and they deserve the grace and space to step back, mourn, and reflect on recent events.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

In all this discourse, let’s not forget that, at the heart of it, an actual crime was committed with victims who have to relive and retell their trauma in a world that can be so dismissive of their stories. We sympathize with them and hope they find solace, and, more importantly, justice. Their stories are just one of thousands of women in South Korea who are dealing with systematic harassment and abuse and, like with Taeil’s victims, are often silenced for trying to speak out.

It’s natural and even understandable to go the extra mile as a fan. But at the end of the day, you are a person first before a fan with morals and values that go above sticking by your fave. You can still show your support, but there should also be a reality check that celebrities aren’t god-like figures. Healthy stanning is possible as long as you don’t allow the delulu fantasy to be reality and stay grounded in your support. Your stan card won’t decline just because you take a step back from the idolization of it all. So, remember that idols aren’t perfect, it’s ok to put boundaries in your stanning, and support victims.

SB19 and BINI proudly waved the Philippine flag as they showed grace and skill at Billboard Korea’s K POWER 100.

P-pop just keeps rising! In their latest endeavor to bridge Filipino talent and music to a global stage, Billboard Philippines brought P-pop icons SB19 and BINI to Billboard Korea’s Billboard K POWER 100, where we saw P-pop and Filipino talent take a global stage in a way it never has before.

Billboard K POWER 100 is an event to celebrate almost a century of Korean popular music and the South Korea’s powerful music industry. It also marked the official launch of Billboard’s latest global franchise, Billboard Korea, and spotlighted the global reach of K-pop as well as the achievements of notable artists, innovators, and industry leaders from South Korea and the Asian region.

The evening was filled with music and gratitude, from South Korean idols walking the carpet to SB19 and BINI sharing the spotlight with other big global artists by earning themselves the Voices of Asia Award along with other regional artists.

Chosen by Billboard Philippines, the two groups at the forefront of the P-pop movement were given the award because of their groundbreaking contributions to the Filipino music industry and their unrelenting efforts to bring P-pop to the global stage.

GENTO GOES GLOBAL (AGAIN)

SB19 got everyone dancing to a rendition of their hit song GENTO, showing up and showing out as they championed Filipino excellence on the Billboard K POWER 100 stage.

BINI TAKES EVERYONE TO ISLANG PANTROPIKO

BINI dazzled while performing a medley of their latest single Cherry On Top and their viral hit Pantropiko, bringing their charm and main pop girls-energy to South Korea.

P-POP RISE

P-pop rise, indeed! We love when P-pop groups support each other’s rise to success. BINI and SB19 stood proud as they accepted their Voices of Asia Awards, and made sure to acknowledge all those paving the way to a bigger, brighter future of Filipino music.

Both SB19 and BINI shouted each other and their fellow artists out. “This milestone belongs not just to us, but to the entire P-pop movement, OPM, and of course, everyone sharing Filipino creativity across Asia and the world,” Josh of SB19 said in their acceptance speech. They also added, “BINI, we are very proud of you. They have been making waves right now.”

BINI also said in their speech, “To our fellow artists, we admire and respect each and every one of you. To our fellow P-pop group, SB19, thank you so much for inspiring us.” Anyone else a little teary-eyed?

The groups were spotted cheering each other on, chatting and making content before and after the show, and full-on supporting each other as they showcased pure Pinoy talent and achieve another milestone for Filipino music.

HALLYU ICONS

Talk about Asian excellence! A whole slew of globally-recognized artists also walked the same carpet at the ceremony and celebration, like EXO-CBX, THE BOYZ, BamBam, The Rose, and more. It was a celebration of more than just the music figures topping the charts and making waves in the industry—K POWER 100 celebrated some of the best of Hallyu and South Korea, and also the potential and impact of the far-reaching and ever-impactful global music industry.

it's just a job

Why Is It So Hard To Understand That “It’s Just A Job”?

line
LF: work-life balance

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been victimized by caring too much about your job. 🙋‍♀️

Related: 6 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Got My First Job

Ever since I was in high school, I have wanted to be a writer, and no, I’m not talking about being a news writer or reporter (though no shade to those professions), but more focused on movies, TV shows, pop culture, and lifestyle in general. So, I feel extremely blessed that for my first job after college, I get to do exactly that and get to write about the things I love.

You would think it’s a dream come true, and in many ways, it is. But what people don’t tell you is just how hard it is to get out of that hole you bury yourself in when you fall into the trap of trying to make your job your whole personality.

“IT’S JUST A JOB”

When I got this job, I strived to prove to my co-workers that I belonged here. That entailed, among other things, focusing a lot of my attention on my work and output. More than just making sure everything I did was of quality, I also worked to do more than the expectations the job. Impostor syndrome is real, and to combat that, I tried to go above and beyond what was asked of me. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be good at your job. But the problem was that I didn’t know when to separate the work from my personal life.

The more time I spent at work, the more it consumed what free time I had. Even before and after my work hours, I was still thinking about my job. Telegram messages were like a trigger I had to answer every time, even on weekends. And speaking of weekends, those became my planning sessions on what I wanted to do the following week. What’s worse was that if I didn’t plan, I felt like I wasn’t doing the job right. Granted, I work in the media industry, so I need to constantly be tuned in to what’s happening. But this mindset wasn’t what I needed.

via GIPHY

I wove so much of my identity to what I did that if it wasn’t well-received, I would take it as a slight against me and my abilities. My job became my life, a core part of who I am, so I ended up putting too much of myself into what I did. In my desire to appease my teammates and bosses, I ended up losing the fire and joy I felt when I first entered the industry.

Imagine thinking about your job before you sleep and when you wake up. That was me for a good while, and I didn’t realize that it was eating me mentally, physically, and emotionally on the inside. To attach yourself to your job is to think that any perceived faults are a failure on your end. It really wasn’t that serious, but I didn’t get the memo.

GOODBYE WORK-LIFE BALANCE

As you can imagine, this mindset messed up my work-life balance. Even though my shift was over, my work brain didn’t stop. You know it’s bad when you dream of labor. Being in my dream job and that I don’t see myself anywhere else masked the fact that I was becoming a workaholic and an unhealthy one at that. And I know I’m not alone in dealing with this struggle of finding work-life balance.

In a study by the human resource platform Remote, the Philippines ranked near dead last at 59th out of 60 countries in its Global Life-Work Balance Index 2024. From early mornings to late nights, many of us put so much of ourselves into our work that we end up sacrificing our own well-being for it. Things got so bad that I almost quit because I was so unhappy. But since you’re reading this, you know it didn’t push through as I eventually found that light at the end of the tunnel with the help of a much-needed reality check from my teammate.

WORK < LIFE

People like to say that “it’s just a job”. But it’s easier said than done. What I learned is that more than just saying it, it should be a mindset put into practice. That starts with setting boundaries between your work and personal life, something I failed to do early in my career. As soon as your first weeks on the job, make it clear and set limits on when it’s time to work, and when it’s time to focus on yourself. Instead of seeing every mistake or missed target as a reason to press the panic button, take the L, learn the lesson, and move on.

via GIPHY

Do your best at the job, but leave it at the office when it’s time to go. A happy and healthy life outside the workplace begins only if you don’t let your life be the workplace. It’s understandable if you want to make a good first impression and be efficient in your regular work hours. Your career, after all, is something to be taken seriously, especially if you’re in a field you see yourself long-term. But that should never come at the expense of your well-being, because the end result is that not only are you unhappy, but it will also negatively affect your work.

In the grand scheme of things, it is just a job, especially if this is your first job. It’s just chapter one, bestie. There’s no need to warp your whole life to fit the hustle and bustle. With so many things happening in this world, worrying about reaching quotas should not be something I panic about in the middle of the night. We work to live, not live to work, and that’s something I continue to practice that helps me rediscover the joy in the job. Admittedly, it’s still a work in progress, but I’ve enjoyed the work so much more when I realized that there’s more to life than a paycheck.

A Gen Z Filipina from Benguet Province being one of the best Muay Thai athletes in the world? Yeah, Filipino athletes never disappoint.

More and more we are seeing Filipino athletes succeed in all kinds of sports and that they can go toe-to-toe with the best of them around the world. It feels even better when Pinoy athletes break stereotypes by doing well in sports often associated with the opposite gender. Case in point: a 23-year-old Filipina athlete has been making the rounds on Muay Thai recently, and her latest achievement sees her top a world ranking.

THAT’S ON NO.1

Recently, it was announced that Filipina Muay Thai athlete Islay Erika Bomogao ranked no. 1 in the world in the -45kg female elite category of the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA) ranking. Oh, and the 23-year-old athlete just graduated from college last year. She’s that good. Bomogao, who is from Benguet, achieved the feat after she bested Australia’s Sarah Kwa, a Muay Thai state champion, via unanimous decision in a match held in Kenwick, Australia earlier this August.

This caused her to reach 1,920 points, thus securing the top spot in her division. Topping a world ranking, and being seen as one of the best female Muay Thai athletes in the world, is no easy feat. But those who have followed the Gen Z athlete’s career know that this moment was coming.

MUAY THAI QUEEN

Among the many (historic) achievements of this Benguet Province native are multiple SEA Games medals, gold at the Jincheon 1st World Youth Martial Arts Masterships in 2017 in Jincheon, South Korea, gold at the 2018 International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) Youth World Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand, and becoming the first Filipino female world Muay Thai champion in history when she bagged two medals in the 2023 IFMA Senior World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.

Needless to say, her trophy shelf is heavy. BTW, she did all that while graduating Cum Laude from the University of Baguio with a Bachelor of Physical Education in 2023, and being an Athletic Awardee to boot. Completing college with honors while competing in multiple international Muay Thai competitions? We know that’s right! As if Bomogao couldn’t get any cooler, the Gen Z athlete, outside of the sport, is also a licensed secondary teacher and a foodie with a dedicated Instagram account chronicling her culinary adventures. And if you’re wondering, yes, she’s a dog mom and has a Chihuahua named Atom

The past couple of years have been filled with stories of young Filipinos excelling in different sports. And now, Islay Erika Bomogao is breaking career records and adding her name to the list as another talented Filipino athlete worth following and supporting. Gen Z Filipino athletes always with the Ws.

Mt. Gulugod Baboy | Mabini, Batangas

Only 131 kilometers from Metro Manila, Mt. Gulugod Baboy is perfect for those dipping their toes into hiking. Its name translates to pig’s spine, inspired by the mountain’s peak, which resembles—you guessed it—a pig’s spine. At 470 meters above sea level, this grassy summit offers panoramic vistas of Batangas Bay and the endless ocean, making the effort well worth it.

The trail is beginner-friendly, with a gentle slope and clear paths, so you won’t be gasping for air every few minutes. Plus, with views like these, you might just forget you’re on a hike and not a photoshoot for your next profile picture.

Mt. Makiling | Laguna

Mount Makiling, a mystical peak in Laguna, is not just a hike but a deep dive into local folklore. Named after Maria Makiling, a benevolent diwata, this mountain is said to fiercely guard its natural environment. At 1,090 meters above sea level, the peak offers breathtaking views of waterfalls and rich biodiversity.

Whether you’re enchanted by local legends or simply eager to explore, Mt. Makiling provides a mix of cultural allure and natural splendor. Just be careful—you might find yourself so captivated by the tales that you start searching for Maria Makiling herself!

Mt. Pinatubo | Zambales

Famous for its eruption in the 20th century, Mt. Pinatubo has now become a must-visit hiking hotspot. Rising about 960 meters above sea level, its summit features a breathtaking turquoise lake that’s a sight to behold.

Your adventure kicks off with an exhilarating 4×4 ride from the base, leading to a 3-kilometer trek to the crater. Although the trail has some uphill sections and rocky streams, it’s beginner-friendly and far from the usual. Just be ready to snap a few pics—this view might make your other hikes look a little jealous!

Tila Pilon Hills | Bulacan

If you’re in the mood for a more laid-back hike, Tila Pilon Hills in Bulacan is a hidden gem you won’t want to miss. Skip the flight to Bohol because this spot delivers a similar feel to the Chocolate Hills right here—minus the tarsiers.

The rolling hills offer a scenic trek that’s perfect for beginners looking to escape from city life. After your hike, take a dip at Talon Pari Falls to refresh and cap off your nature retreat. Tila Pilon Hills is your ticket to a relaxing adventure without breaking a sweat.

NEW:ID ON THE BLOCK

More than just another group formed after reality survival show Dream Maker, global boy group New:ID is a team of excited young Filipino artists grateful for a second chance at achieving their dreams. Dream Maker is known for launching global boy group HORI7ON into stardom, also another set of young, talented dreamers making their own way in the music and pop culture scene here, in South Korea, and beyond.

The members include observant and take-charge Thad, Austria-born dreamer Wilson, reserved Macky, relaxed and quiet Jom, and exuberant L, who were all former contestants of the show. They were finalists, but ultimately did not make it to the final lineup. The boys signed with MLD Entertainment, trained abroad, and debuted on July 25, 2024 with EP NEW EGO with title track GHOST.

Having undergone rigorous training both in Dream Maker (which Thad described as less of a competition and more of a workshop) and in South Korea after, New:ID is navigating a whole new world, getting their feet wet right after debuting with a new EP, mall shows, fan meets, and concert appearances.

Bright-eyed and full of promise, they’re set to serve classic boy group charm with a whole heaping of versatility right here in the Philippines. Expect to see different sides of the group as they constantly reinvent themselves and try out new styles and concepts.

In this exclusive sit-down interview with NYLON Manila, get to know the boys of New:ID as they reflect on changes, second chances, and how they’re doing as they start off on this new journey.

From L-R: Jom, Thad, Macky, L, Wilson

Nice to meet you guys! How do you feel now that you’ve debuted and are doing all these promotions?

THAD: First of all, it’s tiring pala, no? Jokes aside, siyempre sobrang proud din sa members ko, kasi we’ve been through a lot, especially nung nag-training kami sa South Korea for over a year. Now na nag-debut na kami, it’s super fulfilling [pagtapos] lahat ng pinagdaanan namin kasi super challenging yung training namin sa Korea. So super happy na nag-debut na kami, finally.

You all were former contestants on Dream Maker. How did it feel to essentially get a new chance when you signed on to become New:ID?

WILSON: We’re kind of thankful now that we didn’t make it to the final lineup, because the group we have right now—I never thought that we would end up in such a good group like this together. And that’s why—especially me—I’m really glad to end up [in a team] with my best friends.

THAD: The chemistry is just there.

new:id thad macky jom l wilson

Strong chemistry and synergy between members is pretty important to the success of a team. How does being former participants on Dream Maker and training together help you develop your relationships with each other?

L: Well, yung mga fights, it’s a big help! Para maging bonded yung group namin, kasi doon kami natututo. Mas napatibay yung relationships namin. If we just kept our problems to ourselves, lalaki lang talaga ‘yun.

Since madalas naman kami mag-usap about sa mga problems namin sa group—pero ako hindi talaga, kasi di ako confrontational! So magsusumbong muna ko sa isang member, tapos namin pag-uusapan. Pero I’m so glad na sila yung naka-group ko—malawak po yung pag-iisip, ready po sila mag-adjust, at tumanggap ng pagkakamali.

What have you fought about?

THAD: Recently, yung reason is may member na nakakalimot maglinis ng CR. ‘Yun lang pinakamalaking issue namin! Nothing personal, talagang parang magkakapatid na pag-aaway. And we’re used to it naman.

new:id thad macky jom l wilson

How do you feel when people bring up your previous participation on Dream Maker? Is it something that makes you feel off or you’ve come to accept it as part of your history and lore?

THAD: I feel like not at all, because at the end of the day, magka-kaibigan kami sa loob ng show. No matter what other people say, no matter how they compare us to other groups na nabuo din from Dream Maker, we’re still super thankful na sobrang daming bata ang nabigyan ng chance. Aside from the top seven members, marami pa ring nabigyan ng second chance na matupad yung dream nila. So, no bitterness at all.

Speaking of second chances, could you tell me the story behind your group name?

THAD: Okay, let’s break it down into two—the capital ID, it means identity. Every comeback, we’ll have a new identity. For this comeback, we have an identity that’s like a second-generation K-pop, should I say? And then, for the next releases, di pa namin sure what the concept will be, what the identity of the group will be. So every comeback, every release, magkakaroon kami ng new concept.

For the pronunciation, a lot of people may call us “new ID” [as in ID card], but it’s actually from Sigmund Freud’s theory of id, ego, and superego. The “id” is basic instinct, but since now we’ve debuted, meron na kaming sarili naming decision-making. That’s why ang pina-iiral namin ngayon is ang aming “ego”, hence the name of our EP, NEW EGO.

It’s a smart concept—and very interesting. And since you’ve mentioned that you’re all about the versatility and trying out new things, what concepts and kinds of music and styles would you like to try out?

MACKY: Hip-hop.

JOM: R&B.

L: Same din, R&B.

WILSON: I would love to have a sexy concept, a more mature concept.

THAD: For me, I’d like a fresh, high school-type concept. We just all want to try new things.

You seem to all love a range of genres. Could you tell us which artists inspire you?

THAD (immediately): Okay, from P-pop, three, two, one…

ALL: SB19!

THAD: And from K-pop—

ALL: RIIZE!

new:id thad macky jom l wilson

As individuals and as a team, what are things that you’re learning to overcome as you debut?

L: Ang babaw ng naisip ko, pero kasi sobrang love ko talaga magperform, pero tina-try ko talaga i-overcome yung pagiging mahiluhin ko sa biyahe. Hirap na hirap talaga ako! But on a serious note, [sinusubukan kong] hindi ma-hurt masyado sa mga hate comments. Hindi talaga maiiwasan na makita sa social media, pero tinatry naming gawing positive, constructive criticism.

MACKY: Ako, confidence. Dati, wala talaga akong confidence.

THAD: Learning how to compromise. Kasi, grabe, lagi kami magkakasama talaga—like the entire year.

new:id thad macky jom l wilson

JOM: For me, pagsasalita. During Dream Maker, pag nakatapat yung camera sakin, wala talaga akong masabi. So I’m trying to overcome the fear of baka may mali akong masabi.

WILSON: Self-confidence, also, for me. There are times where I’m still not confident on camera or to talk freely, and that’s what I’m still struggling with, but it’s gotten better.

Your concept is aligned with the essence of Gen Z—ever-evolving, versatile, and always in motion. What do you think is the importance of being able to adapt and change easily, having gone through—and are going through—many new changes yourself?

THAD: For me as an artist kasi, kailangan mo matutong magkaroon ng facade. Meron ka dapat “home version” of yourself—kung saan ka pinaka-comfortable—and dapat may version din na halimaw sa stage. That’s very important kasi hindi pwede na dadalhin mo lahat sa stage lahat ng hiya mo as a person.

I have four members that are introverts, pero hindi naman nila pwede ipakita sa stage na “introvert ako, nahihiya ako sa harap niyo.” So dapat meron ka talagang other version na madadala sa stage, and merong version na grounded and humble.

L: In music, also, important na madali talaga mag-adapt. Kasi iba-iba yung audience, iba-iba yung taste ng mga listeners. So for me, mas better na kaya namin gawin ang kahit anong concept. Kasi, doon, mas dadami yung supporters namin kasi iba-iba nga yung taste nila. And I think we’re prepared to do that.

new:id thad macky jom l wilson

How do you think people can still hold on to the core of who they are even though they’re trying out new things and changing with the times?

THAD: Know yourself muna. If kilala mo talaga yung sarili mo, no matter how your “other persona” changes, kahit gaano ka-confident yung bagong persona, masasabi mo pa rin na “this is really who I am, hindi ko siya dapat baguhin ever.” Kasi ‘yun yung kilala ng mga taong close sa akin. Hindi ‘yun yung kilala ng mga taong nakikita ka lang sa stage, nakikita ka in front of camera. So that’s what really keeps you humble.

Do you have a message to your fans as they support you on this new journey?

WILSON: I would like to say thank you, because they have been waiting for so long for us to come back to the Philippines and to be able to meet them again and to perform in front of them. We are so happy and excited that we’ve finally debuted and that we can share our music with them and make other people happy with what we do.

In Defense Of The Work From Home Setup, Since It Apparently “Makes You Dumber Everyday”

line
Actually, you can still thrive professionally while working from home.

There’s no one simple answer on whether an office or WFH setup is the best. But that also means we shouldn’t belittle people who choose one over the other.

Related: 6 Trademarks of Gen Z Interns, According to TikTok

The pandemic changed a lot about how people see and live their lives. Most notably, work culture saw a significant shift as lockdowns had millions work from home. Now, it’s no longer assumed that every job is expected to have you at the office every day as work-from-home or hybrid setups are a more common sight these days. That setup doesn’t look to change anytime soon. But it seems that some people didn’t get the memo of the new normal and that your job is more than just reporting to the office at least five times a day.

You may have seen that video from a healthcare and technology company where its employees were asked about their thoughts on the WFH setup. Now, for a Philippine branch of an international tech and healthcare company, you would think some employees would share a few benefits of a hybrid setup, but instead, they became the trending issue of the week on X as they said WFH makes you lazy, complacent, and seen more as a problem to your work than an option.

HAPPY, HEALTHY, AND THRIVING IN A HYBRID SETUP

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and they sure gave their opinion, but to see people who prefer a WFH or hybrid setup as intellectually inferior is not the way to go. WFH and hybrid setups have proven to be a benefit for many employees. For some, not having to report every day to an office makes the job easier and is better for their work ethic. They save money on the commute and travel (not to mention avoid the hassle of traffic) to and from the office. Some also prefer having a work environment away from the office and potentially toxic co-workers, whether that be at home, a cafe, or whatever makes them comfortable.

via GIPHY

A remote work or hybrid setup also benefits employees who live far from the office and even opens the doors to apply for careers outside the country. More importantly, having a greater say in managing your time, workload, and hours means making it easier to achieve work-life balance. No longer are you constantly participating in the never-ending cycle of waking up early, dealing with rush hour traffic, going home late because of rush hour traffic, being too tired at night, and then repeating the cycle. Boundaries and having a clear distinction between work and personal time? We do know her!

Hustle culture might make you think that it’s cool to always be at the office and grinding with your co-workers, but it’s not. Some of us just prefer a different lifestyle and still be productive with our tasks. In a time when Gen Z see having proper work-life balance as a key factor in what they look for in a job, office work isn’t the ultimate slay some people think it is.

NO ONE SIZE FITS ALL

Of course, that doesn’t mean having to report to the office doesn’t have its benefits. For some, having a set work environment makes them more focused and is conducive to their mindset and productivity. Having face-to-face interactions with your co-workers can also build teamwork and make communication easier. Some tasks are just preferably done at the office with your teammates. But to say that WFH or hybrid setups make you lazy or are breeding grounds for distraction sounds like a you problem. That’s on you, bestie.

via GIPHY

At the end of the day, which work environment you thrive most in depends on you and the work you do. But what’s important is that you have the proper attitude about it. Remember that you work to live, not the other way around, so find what best fits you.
