7 Moments From Billboard Philippines’ Women In Music Event That Had Us Screaming “Mother!”

Mother! Nanay!

From Sarah Geronimo devouring the stage to BINI being an audience favorite, it was pure mother energy at the Women In Music event.

Last March 22, the Samsung Hall at SM Aura radiated unapologetic Filipina energy with Billboard Philippines’ first-ever Women In Music event. The night saw the publication honor Belle Mariano (Listener’s Choice), Morissette (People’s Choice), Ena Mori (Rule Breaker), BINI (Rising Star), Moira dela Torre (Hitmaker), Pilita Corrales (Icon), Regine Velasquez (Powerhouse), and Sarah Geronimo (Woman of the Year).

As you can imagine, the energy in that room was nothing short of inspiring as fellow artists, creatives, executives, and a few hundred lucky fans got to witness a celebration of women in OPM. And with that, we also got moments where we had no choice but to say mother. Scroll down for the highlights, interactions, and performances at the Women In Music event that gave what needed to be given.

DENISE JULIA AND SARAH GERONIMO’S FANGIRL MOMENT

On the blue carpet, Sarah Geronimo and Denise Julia ran into each other and mutually fangirled, with Denise even letting out an audible scream when she realized that Sarah was near her (same, TBH). While we weren’t shocked to know that the rising R&B star is a fan of the pop superstar, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that not only does Sarah know who Denise is, but is also a fan of her music. And that’s on what? Queens supporting queens.

BINI’S MIKHA AND AIAH WITH BELLE MARIANO

With an event this star-studded, anything can happen. Case in point, as Belle Mariano was leaving the washroom, BINI’s Mikha and Aiah were entering, and the two shared a moment, a few hugs, and compliments outside the girls’ bathroom. Just Gen Z stars mingling outside the washroom, no big deal.

SARAH GERONIMO’S PROVING WHY SHE’S WOMAN OF THE YEAR

What’s a stronger word for mother? Fresh from winning her Global Force award, Sarah Geronimo bagged Woman of the Year and owned the stage with her epic performance. With the biggest production of the night, Sarah started from the crowd before making her way to the stage for a two-song set of Dati-Dati and Ikot-Ikot. Seeing her go from house pop to power ballad so effortlessly, and then proceeding to deliver a touching speech on believing in yourself and not listening to the noise is just one of the many reasons why she took home the biggest honor of the night.

MIMIYUUH AND MOIRA DELIVERING A JOINT SLAY

If there was an award for best baddie duo that night, it would have probably gone to Mimi and Moira. The two showed up and slayed their looks, with Moira in her stunning black gown and Mimiyuuh looking like she stepped out of the ocean in her seashell dress. Later that night, Moira brought the emotions with her performance and dedicating her award to her mom, while Mimi got the crowd in hysterics with her hilarious speech as she introduced Moira. It’s like OA and nonchalant in the best way possible.

BINI BEING A FAN-FAVORITE

Let’s count all the ways BINI won at Billboard Philippines’ Women In Music event. First, they chewed in their denim-inspired looks. Next, they brought the house down with their performance of Salamin, Salamin. Third, whenever their names were mentioned or faces featured on the screen, fans went wild as they were one of the artists with the loudest cheers that night. Finally, they won the Rising Star award, which was made more special by how SB19’s Stell was the one who introduced the group and presented it to them. It’s giving P-pop rise, as it should.

THE ICONS TABLE

Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo, SB19’s Stell, and Belle Mariano all sitting at the same table? What we would give to hear their conversations.

BINI WITH SARAH GERONIMO

Rumor has it that one of the four Horsemen of the Motherpocalypse is BINI and Sarah G being on stage together for a performance. This is what pop excellence looks like.
