Enzo Villacorta turned his love for colors into a job as a certified color analyst in the Philippines.

If you’ve been a regular on TikTok this past year, you might have seen the rise in color analysis. It’s a scientific art that has been done for years but has seen a resurgence as of late, especially in South Korea. You might have even seen celebrities like ENHYPEN have their colors analyzed. For a quick refresher, color analysis is basically finding out which colors are best for you. But more than just a palette swap, color analysis delves into a variety of factors, both external and internal, that give you the tones and colors of your life. 

It’s all this and more that attracted Enzo Villacorta to it. Enzo, who does brand marketing as his day job and content creation on the side, has always loved playing with colors, especially given his work. But after learning about color analysis online, experiencing it for himself, and getting a push from his mother, the 25-year-old decided to put in the work and studied abroad to become a certified color analyst. These days, he’s been busy helping clients see the value in colors with his full slate of data, materials, and tools.

We got the chance to chat with Enzo as the content creator opened up about color analysis, what happens in a session, and more. Read on below for the full interview.

How would you describe what color analysis is?

“Color Analysis” is a process that identifies the personal palette of an individual. “Personal colors” are colors that compliment an individual by highlighting their best features.

What would you say are the benefits of getting your personal color analysis? 

Color analysis is all about using colors to put the person first. Everything we wear, whether it’s our clothes, accessories, makeup, or hair color, should all work to compliment you. For example— colors that work well on a person can make their skin appear clearer, brighter, and livelier. With color analysis, we find ways to make colors for us— not the other way around. And because color is everywhere, I really feel like there’s power in knowing how to use it to our advantage.

How did you learn about color analysis and what made you want to be certified in doing it?

I’ve always loved playing with colors, especially when it comes to clothing and makeup. Being a content creator, I also became more intentional with the way I’d presented myself on camera. Like most people, I learned about color analysis through trending videos online. After I was able to experience it for myself with a trained professional, I realized how great it would be to do it in the Philippines. 

Actually— it was also my mom that really encouraged and supported me to do it. While people can fly to a different country to have their color analysis done, having your analysis done by a Filipino (or someone that’s more in tune with local beauty standards) could also have its benefits. My overall goal is to have more Filipinos embrace their skin, and to empower them to explore more colors.

When you say that you’re a certified color analyst, what exactly does that mean? Did you have to study and/or take an exam for that?

I trained abroad to be a color analyst. I studied different color theories, underwent technical training, and took an exam to earn my certification.

How does a color analysis session go? What do you do and how do you prepare for it?

For my consultations, I start by giving my clients a quick lecture that explains basic principles of color, color systems, and what personal colors can be applied to— I find that doing this really helps set expectations, because a session can get very loaded in terms of information. After the lecture, I move on to everyone’s favorite part— the color draping. This is where I identify the colors that work best on my clients. 

This part of the process checks over a hundred different colors for clothes, including makeup, hair, and accessory colors. After the draping, I process all the information with my clients. It’s not enough to simply tell them something like “you look best on Autumn colors”— I breakdown why certain colors work or don’t work. That way, they leave with a clearer understanding and know what to identify when they pick colors on their own.

Color analysis deals with a lot of factors. How do you work with your clients for them to not feel overwhelmed with the information they’re given?

Because we explore so many colors, it’s not uncommon for clients to feel overwhelmed during consultations. This is why I put extra care into the introduction lecture and processing. During the draping, I never just say if a shade looks good or bad— I always make sure to explain why, what, and how colors are affecting them. This is really important because all clients have a subjective preference towards color, so it’s my job as the color consultant to detach from bias and be objective. So my clients aren’t pressured to memorize everything, I also send them a visual summary of their results.

Why do you think color analysis has been trending as of late and something that people want to try?

Like makeup, skincare, and fashion, color analysis is another way that can empower you to feel more confident and comfortable. I think what sets color analysis apart is that you leave each session with the knowledge and understanding on how to be more intentional with color— and that’s something that stays with you forever.

Do you see color analysis growing in popularity in the Philippines?

That would be my dream! With our culture, I think a lot of Filipinos grew up feeling like their skin tone dictated they could and couldn’t wear— so my goal is to change that mindset by empowering them to explore color. The world is full of color, there’s no reason we should feel restricted by it.   

What’s something about color analysis that you think more people should know about?

Personal color analysis is not meant to restrict you or put you in a box. While it helps you identify which colors look good on you, color analysis is also a learning experience that helps you become more intentional, appreciative, and observant of color. We live in such a colorful world where each hue holds so many different shades. Simply noticing the differences or similarities can be enough to make a big impact on how we view the world around us.

The two artists ended the night on a high, dueting with a medley of songs from Bruno Mars. Watching these two amazing vocalists together on stage for the first time ever was a real spectacle, and everyone who got to see it 100% spent their Halloween night with no tricks, only treats.

wave to earth has been captivating music lovers, country by country, with their heartfelt music carried on with enchanting sound and eloquent songwriting. The Philippines has been no exception. With the world singing along to their craft, wave to earth has expressed their desire to widen the horizon of their music, reaching all corners of the world with the hues their band has to offer. 

And with that growing legion of fans comes the fact that the band has been busier than ever, currently cruising the seas of Asia and North America for sold-out concerts. Their music has been a worldwide anthem for lovers and the like, melting and recreating the sunny days they have longed to deliver to their fans. 

Before the band held their highly-anticipated debut, we got the chance to sit down with the band for a backstage chat as they talked about their songwriting magic, their dream collaborations, and their message for their fans. Read on below for the full interview.

How does it feel to be performing internationally and, in particular, here in Manila? 

First of all, this is our first visit to perform here in the Philippines. So we’re very excited for it! We hope to have more visits coming soon so that we can perform and meet more of our fans in the future.

You’ve been gaining a lot of popularity outside of Korea. How does that affect your creative process, like in songwriting and performing?

Even from the beginning, the purpose of this band was to perform in front of international fans, so that’s where we placed our perspective on. And that is how we want to create a comfortable ambiance towards the fans with our songs. 

Where do you draw inspiration from for your songwriting?

Usually, it comes naturally by talking to fellow friends or members or even taking a walk in nature. We really try to take it out from somewhere natural.

As a band, you spend a lot of time creating, collaborating, and working together on music. What are the working dynamics between the three of you?

The very first priority of us is maybe spending time with each other. That is the biggest influence for us. Making songs just comes out from us.

How does music help you process or deal with your emotions?

First of all, we can say that what we listen to on top of the morning really creates how our day could end. So we think in that way, we can see how music really moves someone’s feelings and mindset throughout the day.

Any artists you would want to perform or collaborate with?

Recently, we’ve thought that we wanted to work with beabadoobee.

You have obtained a large fanbase over time due to your heartfelt music and unique sound. Any message you would like to tell your fans?

Because of all this love coming from our fans, we are able to be here today. And we hope to have this performance ready to show how much we’re thankful towards our fans.

On the outside looking in, you might think that the Miss Universe pageant is grounded in stereotypical ideas and beliefs about what a woman should look like. And while vestiges of that old-school thinking still remain, the Miss Universe pageant, and the organization as a whole, has been keeping up with the times as they implement new rules and regulations meant to signify a more welcoming, diverse, and progressive era. 

More than just the looks, Miss Universe is a competition for all kinds of women to champion just causes, platform advocacies, break barriers, and yes, make history. After all, a Miss Universe is an ambassador, spokesperson, and role model for change. It’s something these queens from this year’s tilt all have in common. SHEYNNIS PALACIOS

Since the start of the competition, many have tipped Miss Universe Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios to be a strong contender. And she lived up to the hype as the mental health advocate was crowned the new Miss Universe. Given her reaction, you can tell the win meant a lot to her as she made history as the first Nicaraguan ever to win Miss Universe. Now, young Nicaraguans can know that someone who looks like them can be Miss Universe.

This year’s Miss Universe competition was the first in history to let married women and those with kids compete in the competition. And the 72nd edition saw the first two mothers compete, Miss Universe Colombia Camila Avella and Miss Universe Guatemala Michelle Cohn. But it’s the former who made a big splash after she finished in the Top 5, becoming the first mother and married woman to reach that position in Miss Universe.

Pageants are often criticized for perpetuating outdated beauty standards. But more and more are we seeing all kinds of women compete in pageants, with an impactful performance coming from Miss Universe Nepal Jane Dipika Garrett. The moment she stepped foot on El Salvador, the 23-year-old nurse and businesswoman radiated confidence as she proudly proved to the world that plus-sized and curvy women can compete in Miss Universe. Her uplifting aura was just one of the many reasons why she became a fan favorite and finished in the Top 20.

In 2018, Spain’s Angela Ponce made history as the first trans woman to compete in Miss Universe. Five years later, two more trans women joined her, namely, The Netherlands’s Rikkie Kollé and Portugal’s Marina Machete, the latter of which made it to the Top 20. It’s been said before and it will be said again, trans women are women.

For the first time in history, Pakistan sent a delegate for the Miss Universe competition, an honor that fell to Miss Universe Pakistan Erica Robin. And what’s even more admirable about Erica is that despite competing in the world’s biggest beauty pageant, she didn’t let that compromise her beliefs. It was a conviction exemplified when she, along with Miss Universe Bahrain Lujane Yacoub, walked the swimsuit competition wearing a burkini in respect to her religion. With her Top 20 finish, Erica is showing the power of being true to yourself and that anyone can be part of Miss Universe

At 29 years old, Miss Universe Latvia Kate Alexeeva has the whole world right in front of her. But for the longest time in the beauty pageant world, 29 was considered old. Shocking, we know. If the old MU rules were in place, Kate wouldn’t have been able to participate. But since the organization dropped the age requirement after R’Bonney’s iconic winning answer during last year’s edition, that is no longer the case. Kate is actually the oldest contestant in the 72nd edition which does open the door for all women, regardless of age, to see themselves in the Miss Universe crown. Age really is just a number.

On its second consecutive year, Star Magic’s Star Magical Christmas event celebrated togetherness, thanksgiving, and love. The white carpet saw the merriest of outfits, the sparkliest of accessories, and plenty of creative liberty as everyone from DonBelle to BGYO, Vivoree to Darren Espanto expressed light and joy through their fashion.

Star Magical Christmas isn’t just a party or fashion show, though. While walking down the white carpet, stars carried stuffed toys and gifts to place in a giant box at the end of the “runway” for beneficiaries of the Bantay Bata 163 foundation. Now that’s what it’s all about.

But from epic, Halloween costume-like garb to classically elegant and festive looks, these Gen Z stars shone bright and merry—and gave us plenty of outfit ideas to choose from for our own holiday parties.
