ICYDK, Halloween season is heating up as parties and events go down left and right. And one of the biggest to start spooky szn is GMA’s Sparkle Spell. This yearly event sees some of GMA’s biggest and brightest stars show up and show out in their Halloween costumes. And this year’s festivities didn’t disappoint. From Sassa Gurl, who won the internet last year with her live seller costume, slaying as funeral flowers from a Congressman, Pipay as a Barangay Councilor candidate pamphlet, and Kyline Alcantara’s transformation as The Night King, the stars didn’t come to play.
But in between all the ghosts and ghouls were a few famous faces who showed up rocking the same costume. While these aren’t one-to-one creations, they did give us a case of seeing double as well as the chance to see how these stars would interpret the same idea. Let’s take a look at the celebs who so happened to have gone as the same character at Sparkle Spell 2023
VINCE MARISTELA AND ALLEN ANSAY AS KEN
Okay, while these two actors did go as the famous doll, we love how they channeled a different kind of Ken doll, with Vince giving cowboy Ken from the Barbie movie and Allen serving zombie Ken with a matching box.
DAVID LICAUCO, JAK ROBERTO, ANTHONY ROSALDO, AND SANDRO MUHLACH AS ZORO FROM ONE PIECE
Category is Night of 1000 Zoros. The hilarious scenario of David and Jak showing up to Sparkle Spell both dressed as Zoro might have overshadowed the fact that two other people also dressed up as Zoro. Sales of green hair dye are about to go through the roof this Halloween.
DANICA ONTENGCO, KALOY TINGCUNGCO, MAUIE FRANCISCO, AND VIANNA RICAFRANCA AS CRUELLA DE VIL
Remember that scene in Cruella where all the guests dress up as Cruella de Vil at the Baroness’s charity gala? This is giving that. Given how much of a fashion icon Cruella de Vil is, we weren’t surprised she’d be a popular choice for the party. Kaloy kept it classic with the fur coat, Mauie brought out the dogs, Vianna gave the sparkle, and Danica served glamour in her red gown.
ROXIE SMITH AND CHARLIE FLEMING AS TAYLOR SWIFT
Why go to the Eras Tour in Singapore when we already have it in the Philippines? They say great minds think alike, which is why Roxie and Charlie showed up as Taylor Swift in her Versace opening outfit of the Eras Tour as Sparkle Spell 2023. They served Cruel Summer realness.
JEFF MOSES AND KIRST VIRAL AS ALADDIN
It takes a lot of courage to show up to a Halloween party in just a vest and nothing underneath, so we give our props to Jeff and Kirst, with the former even showing up with the magic carpet and his monkey Abu.
ASHLEY SARMIENTO AND MIGUEL TANFELIX AS THE MAD HATTER
While you may have your preference on who serves Mad Hatter energy better, we commend both stars for committing to the eccentric outfit of the character.
KEISHA SERNA AND AND TANYA RAMOS AS MIA THERMOPOLIS
The fact that both of them thought about going as Mia from The Princess Diaries poster is already a win in our book. From the shades, tiara, and headphones, it’s *chef’s kiss*.
SHAYNE KIRSTEN AND MJ ORDILLANO AS LUFFY FROM ONE PIECE
The beauty of Halloween is that costumes aren’t limited to a certain style or gender. Just look at Shayne and MJ’s interpretation of Luffy, with the latter going for the classic take and the former giving a more feminine approach to the anime character.
DAVE BORNEA, MATTHEW UY, AND JOSH FORD AS PATRICK BATEMAN
In this battle of well-dressed killers, Dave, Matthew, and Josh channel the American Psycho vibe well. It’s one of the few times where it’s acceptable to step out in public in a suit covered in blood while holding an ax.
