MAVLINE (KYLINE ALCANTARA AND MAVY LEGASPI)

Kyline Alcantara and Mavy Legaspi are no strangers to the entertainment industry. Kyline has been acting since she was a child and has made a name for herself as one of the new generation’s brightest stars. Mavy, on the other hand, comes from celebrity royalty. But he is slowly making a name for himself through his own efforts. The two were first paired as a love team during the recently aired I Left My Heart In Sorsogon where they charmed many with their chemistry, both on and off screen. With a promising future and relationship ahead of them, MavLine is one to watch out for.

ALFIA (SOFIA PABLO AND ALLEN ANSAY)

Sofia Pablo is used to being in the limelight. She has worked her way into becoming one of the brightest stars on GMA, not to mention the fact that she’s also a TikTok star with over 7.9 million followers. Allen Ansay, meanwhile, got his career started when he appeared in the 7th season of StarStruck, eventually taking the title of First Prince. Together, the two have brightened many fans’ days to the point where they even have the nickname of Team Jolly. After first appearing together in Raya Sirena, the AlFia love team joined forces once more in Prima Donnas and are poised for big things in the future.

ALBRUCE (ALTHEA ABLAN AND BRUCE ROELAND)

While Althea Ablan and Bruce Roeland aren’t household names, they have been in the industry for a while now. Both started their careers as a child stars. But as they enter young adulthood, the duo are set to enter a new stage of their career. And that starts with their newly formed love team, AlBruce, which you can catch on Prima Donnas. It will be interesting to see what these rising stars have to offer.

ABDAYNE (SHAYNE SAVA AND ABDUL RAMAN)

You could say this love team was meant to be from the beginning. Shayne Sava and Abdul Raman both competed in season seven of Starstruck. It was during this time that the duo showed promise to both producers and viewers. Taking home the titles of Ultimate Female Survivor and Avenger respectively, the two made their loveteam acting debut in Legal Wives. Fans of AbdAyne should look forward to their next project, Raising Mamay, as it is their first leading roles together.

JANIA (ZONIA MEJIA AND JAMIR ZABARATE)

The thing that helps JaNia standout is how wholesome and positive they are. Jamir’s charm and Zonia’s sweet vibes made for a great combination. The two first came together for the romantic-comedy Heartful Café in 2021. Oddly enough, the two actually had a enemies to lovers arch in the show which was enjoyed by many viewers. More projects are definitely coming for this rising love team.

Heads Up: All The Netflix Marvel Shows Are Leaving Netflix On March 1

line
Catch them while you can.

Haven’t seen or finished Netflix’s Marvel shows? Well, you only have until February 28 to do so before shows like Daredevil leave the streaming service permanently.

Related: The New Must-See Movies And Shows Of February 2022

When Marvel decided to make TV shows based on MCU characters for Disney+, they made one of their best decisions in years. Ever since the first MCU series, Wandavision, premiered in January 2021, the MCU shows have been bonafide hits and became some of the most talk about TV shows of 2021. But before we got this deluge of shows, there was a time when Marvel, via the banner of Marvel TV, partnered with other companies to create shows not related to the main MCU timeline.

Arguably the most successful to come out of this partnership were the Netflix Marvel shows. Starting with Daredevil and continuing with the Defenders series, most of these shows were commercial and critical successes, becoming must-see content on Netflix. But sadly, the era has come to an end as these shows are all set to leave Netflix on March 1.

MARVEL SHOWS LEAVING NETFLIX

When you head to the main pages of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, The Defenders, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, you’ll see a reminder on top that says that the last day you can watch them will be on February 28. That is because, as reported by Deadline, Netflix will lose the licensing agreement to these shows to Disney on midnight of February 28. For the past few years now, Disney has had the rights to many of the characters featured in these shows. Hence the appearance of Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Kingpin in Hawkeye. As to where the Netflix Marvel shows will head to next, they will be available to stream on Disney+ starting March 16.

END OF AN ERA

Watch Marvel's The Defenders | Netflix Official Site

Seeing all these shows leave Netflix is definitely weird considering how popular they are and have remained staples of the Netflix lineup. It’s normal for non-Netflix movies and shows to leave the streaming service on a monthly basis. But not when it’s Netflix-produced. It’s clear that Disney is looking to keep everything in-house from now on and it will be sad to see these shows leave Netflix.

Charlie Cox to Play Daredevil Again — In Disney+ MCU Series or Movie? | TVLine

But on the bright side, we may be seeing more of these characters in the future. After all, Charlie Cox, the actor who plays Daredevil, is open to returning as the character in future MCU projects. And the introduction of the multiverse means that it won’t be too hard to introduce characters like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones into the MCU timeline.

If you have seen Netflix’s Marvel shows already, then we suggest you binge watch them again considering how there’s still no word on when exactly Disney+ is coming to the Philippines. And if you haven’t seen any of the shows, now would be a perfect time to do so. They’re arguably some of, if not the best, non-MCU Marvel entertainment to watch. If you have limited time, we recommend you check out Daredevil season one to three, Jessica Jones season one, and The Punisher season one first as they’re the best in the entire lineup.

The Round-Up: New Music Drops Of The Week

line
Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran remain an undefeated duo.

In this week’s round up of new music drops, a handful of music superstars decided to drop collabs from Zack Tabudlo and Moira Dela Torre to Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

Aside from the fact that Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, it also has been a busy week in the world of music, especially in K-pop. Among many things, quite a handful of K-pop idols are set to graduate from school, proving that you still can get that degree and entertain millions around the world. ENHYPEN’s Sunoo and Jay are graduating from high school while ITZY’s Yuna is graduating from Hanlim Art School.

The week also got off to an exciting start when it was announced that BIGBANG is finally making their much anticipated comeback. Oh, and SEVENTEEN’s Vernon, who is a noted Charli XCX stan, most likely will be working with the pop star herself. But before you head off onto the Valentine’s weekend either in a relationship or single, don’t forget all the new music drops from the past week, some of which you should definitely not sleep on. Some of these tracks might even soundtrack your weekend, or the weekends to come.

IBA – ZACK TABUDLO AND MOIRA DELA TORRE

Zack Tabudlo and Moira Dela Torre really wanted us to get into our feelings and right before Valentine’s weekend. The two music stars combined forces to deliver the emotional track, Iba, as they emote about their past lover and how they are moving on in the relationship. Another song to add to our sad boi playlist.

THE JOKER AND THE QUEEN – ED SHEERAN AND TAYLOR SWIFT

After initially teasing us during her I Bet You Think About Me music video, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran finally dropped the remix to Ed’s song, The Joker and The Queen. And all we can say it their voices together are a match made in heaven. It’s a beautiful song that’s made even better by the fact that the two kids featured in the Everything Has Changed music video also star in the music video for this song.

CLOSER – SAWEETIE AND H.E.R.

Zack and Moira weren’t the only Pinoy superstars to collab on new music this week. On the other side of the world, Filipina baddies Saweetie and H.E.R. came together for a dream collab called Closer. It’s an upbeat pop-funk song that’s perfect to play for when you’re with your Valentine, or honestly any time of the day. It’s safe to say these two bodied the song.

STAY ALIVE – JUNGKOOK (PROD BY SUGA)

After an initial tease earlier this week, BTS has finally dropped the full version of Stay Alive. We already have goosebumps listening to it as it’s arguably one of their most grand to date. The track comes from the soundtrack of their webtoon 7Fates: CHAKHO. Even though the cinematic song only features vocals from Jungkook, it’s dramatic video features all seven members as well as animated clips from the webtoon.

MAG-INGAT – BEN&BEN

With Mag-Ingat, not only did Ben&Ben deliver a surprisingly funky bop, but also an educational one warning you about the perils of the internet and social media. Partnering with Google, the folk band delivered a catchy tune to deliver an all too real story of online malice through their storybook like lyrics. So, the next time you think you come across a scam on the internet, remember this song and stay safe.

BUSSIN – NICKI MINAJ AND LIL BABY

Remember during the end of the Do We Have A Problem? music video, Nicki snapped on the beat with a fire verse? Well, it actually was a new song called Bussin and you can now stream it on it’s own with its official release. Another serve from the queen of rap.

CELEBRITY SKIN – DOJA CAT

Doja Cat continues to prove once again she’s one of the most versatile artists of today. When you think she’s done it all, she surprises you again. And this time, it’s by dropping her cover of Celebrity Skin by Hole. She recorded the cover as it was featured in her Taco Bell commercial to be aired during the Super Bowl. But honestly, she bodied that and we wouldn’t mind if she released more rock music.

HEARTBEAT ON ME – KIANA V AND JESSE BARRERA

A serve from start to finish, Kiana V delivers one of her strongest songs to date with the new track Heartbeat On Me. It’s an upbeat disco-inspired song that feels like a shot of euphoria, groove, and good vibes.

DOVE CAMERON – BOYFRIEND

We definitely were not expecting this. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Dove Cameron dropped a new song called Boyfriend. But it’s not a lighthearted love song as some would expect. Instead, it’s a dramatic love anthem sang from a queer perspective and how Dove can be a better boyfriend for her than any man could.

AYOKO LANG – ANGELINCA CRUZ

She has the looks, she can act, and she can sing. Angelina Cruz really is a rising star. And this week she is out with new music with the release of her new single, Ayoko Lang. The acoustic driven track sees Angelina lay bare how she can forget a former flame but doesn’t want to and is still dealing with the fallout from the relationship. It’s a beautiful song with great production and one where Angelina’s voice shines well.

DON’T FORGET MY LOVE – DIPLO AND MIGUEL

This Valentine’s weekend, don’t just listen to hugot songs. Make sure to also leave some room in your playlist for some upbeat bangers too, such as Diplo and Miguel’s newest collab together, Don’t Forget My Love. With Miguel’s signature vocals and Diplo’s addicting beats, it’s a song that’ll get you moving.

BOP BOP! – VIVIZ

For many GFRIEND fans, their disbanding in May 2021 was a sad day. But now, fans can look forward to new K-pop girl group VIVIZ as they are composed of half of GFRIEND’s members, SinB, Eunha, Umji. They just released their debut single, the retro inspired BOP BOP! as well as their first mini-album, Beam Of Prism. With over seven new tracks to enjoy, their debut is much welcome news for many fans.

TREAT ME LIKE A SLUT – KIM PETRAS

Sometimes, you just have those moments where you just want to let out your inner freak. And Kim Petras is here to help with the release of her newest album, Slut Pop. True to it’s name, Kim’s new music is pop music to let you feel your inner hoe. At just under 16 minutes in total, the album is just long enough to get you in the mood.

SUNFLOWER – JEREMY G

This week, rising actor and musician Jeremy Glinoga just dropped his first ever EP, maybe forever. With five tracks, including four brand new songs, the album is an excellent showcase of Jeremy’s soulful vocals.

MONA LISA – MXMTOON

Bedroom pop star mxmtoon is out with new music this week with the release of her new song mona lisa. The track is a dreamy, ukulele driven ditty about wanting to be the subject of the art for once instead of being the creator.

SODA (ARTHUR TAN REMIX) – JAMES REID

A little over the one year anniversary of the release of Soda, James Reid and Arthur Tan just dropped a new remix for the song. The remix gives the track a more upbeat and electronic vibe as compared to the original.

HELE – JOSUE

If you didn’t know, musical talent runs in the blood of SB19’s Pablo. This can be seen in the fact that his brother, Josue, is also a musician and dropped a new song called hele. Give a song a listen to get a dose of R&B OPM.

NO ONE ELSE – TONIE ENRIQUEZ, DOTTY, AND DAVE ANONUEVO

Tonie Enriquez, dotty, and Dave Anonuevo have come together for their new R&B/pop love song No One Else. Written from the perspective of a hopeful romantic, No One Else is a great tune to blast on Valentine’s Day as it explores the concept of love’s risks but having someone worth trying it out for anyway.

Get In The Mood For Love, Love, Love On Valentine’s Day With This Playlist

line
How do I love thee? Press play.

Finding the right words to express your love on Valentine’s day? Put in a love song, or well, songs, in this playlist that will have you smiling, laughing, and crying all while singing to your heart’s content.

Dictionaries and many a romantic comedy aside, love is still something that continues to bewilder the world over. Even the philosophers, literary greats, and prolific minds of many generations have tried making sense of it, and while there have been attempts at explaining it, nothing quite comes close to its expressions. For such a feeling that is all consuming and has one bursting at the seams with unfathomable happiness, at least in the onset, it remains to be one of life’s greatest mysteries. There are truly no words to encapsulate the feeling, which reminds us time and again that love was, is, and will forever be complicated.

So, in the words of Emily Browning, how do I love thee?

Counting the ways in poetry is one thing, a heartfelt letter pouring out one’s swirl of emotions is another, or you know the standard but clichéd manifestations such as flowers, chocolates, and the modern realizations of prose in truncated form. While there is nothing wrong with that, especially if you are certain your significant other will feel the love during Valentine’s day no less, nothing pierces through than music. From serenading someone through kundiman and haranas, a boom box hoisted up in the air playing In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel, or even making the perfect mix tape, the gift of song just hits different, and time clearly agrees.

Love, Love, Love

Now, in an age where the democracy of the internet has made it possible for music to be even more accessible, sharing it has become some sort of a modern-day love language. Whether it be tracks posted as a subtle show of sentiments on social media or back in the day, Yahoo Messenger or LiveJournal, or curating playlists to get one through an emotional episode, the inextricable link of love and music continues to make one swoon, Valentine’s day or not.

While some may not think much of playlists, there is a lot more to it than just putting random tracks together or flexing perceived superior musical tastes. With a lot more thought put into it, there exists a potential to either tell a story or express the unsaid and inexplicable through songs that are not only nice to listen to, but can actually warm your heart and yes, make you feel things.

The best thing about creating playlists is that it can fit any vibe for any time, more so during Valentine’s day or the days leading up to it when you want to get in the mood for love. Dance party for one? Sure. A good cry while sliding your back against the wall? You do you. Or how about a passionate profession of one’s feelings for a certain special someone? Yes, please. But if it’s love, love, love that you want to soundtrack just in time for Valentine’s day, then this playlist on Spotify is for you.

Let The Music Play

No matter how one feels about love songs, there is no doubt of the profound effect it has. Even the iciest, most jaded, and bitter of hearts cannot match the force these expressions in many interesting, inspiring, and insightful points-of-view. With these messages of love, the not-so sneaky feeling is, love is actually all around, and this timely collection is representative of that. From the latest hits, pop favorites, and even sensual songs, there is a lot of heart thumping in Love, Love, Love, the special playlist crafted just in time for Valentine’s day.

Together with Troye Sivan, LANY, keshi, Calum Scott, Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams, James Morrison, Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, and Zack Tabudlo among many others, the swing of sentiments is really in motion from the subtle to the searing. No matter your relationship status on Valentine’s day, for an hour and 58 minutes, this playlist will have you smiling, laughing, and crying, all while singing to your heart’s content. Or you know, the love of your life.

So, what are you waiting for? Now, let the music play.

Plaid skirts, Mary Janes, Vivienne Westwood and blunt bangs. Just some of the things that Justine Llarena loves. If you’re in the constant loophole of Tiktok, you’ll immediately recognize her for her amazing style that reminds us of Jules Vaughn on Euphoria and her content that brings us back to the wholesome side of Tumblr circa 2013. But aside from her whimsical outfits, it’s Justine’s art style that had us hooked. As frail as her subjects look like, they’re mostly portrayed with a killer instinct no matter how raw and real their emotions are—the same metaphor that best describes her journey. Luckily, we were able to catch up with Justine Llarena on how her transition has helped her re-discover herself, her aesthetic as an artist, designer, model and became real-life Ramona Flowers (without the red flags, of course!)

How long have you been illustrating?

I’ve been drawing since I was 3 or something. My aunt gifted me a set of coloring materials and I can still remember it vividly. It consists of markers, watercolors, crayons, and colored pencils all packed in black plastic case. I treasured it so much that one time I brought it on my mom’s visit to her friend’s office. She told her friend that I’m good in drawing. The next thing I remember her whole floor is covered with my artworks.

Tell us the story about how your aesthetic and POV came to be. We love the dreamy, almost psychedelic vibe of your artworks.

Justine Llarena art model designer tiktok

Thank you so much! It all started when I watched Agnes Cecile’s water color paintings on youtube! I was fascinated by how transparent—almost ghostlike yet full of emotions her paintings are. My mom bought my first Winsor & Newton water color set in LA as a Christmas gift and I still use it today. I tried copying her techniques, but something doesn’t sit right until I discovered oil paints! I love how realistic I can paint with oils and as a person who pays attention to detail, oil became my number 1 medium. I tried incorporating what I’ve learned in Agnes Cecile’s videos and I guess that’s when I developed my own aesthetic. I like to keep the proportions realistic and add my own fantasy twist to capture the viewer’s eye.

We found out that you were the only Filipina who made it to the First Worldwide Trans Model Search in LA. How has your transformation influenced your journey into becoming the artist, model and fashion designer that you are today?

At first I had a lot of self-doubt cause there were times that I thought some people are more deserving. But then I realized that the universe will not give this opportunity if it wasn’t for me. I’m not gonna lie, I had a hard time in the early years of my transition, my mind and body’s experiencing changes. I became more emotional but most importantly, I felt that my mind and body’s now aligned! I can express who I truly am and I guess that’s when I regained my confidence to join the modelling competition which is a big step for me. Because growing up, I’ve always been shy and scared to step out of my comfort zone. I’m so blessed that my family has been supportive of my journey. To all people that are struggling and questioning themselves, I want to let you all know that you don’t need to rush yourself. Time will tell if you’re ready and don’t feel pressured because of societal reasons. Do it for yourself and everything else will be aligned.

Who are the artists you wish to collaborate with in the future?

I have so many artists in mind! For international, I wish to work with Agnes Cecile, Lauren Tsai, and Little Thunder. For locals I like to work with JC Peñaflorida, Alagad ng Sining and my friend Neil Anthonie!

If you’d have a chance, what would you say to your younger self?

It’s not your fault that you’re different than most of the kids in your school. Time will come and your parents will be supportive and proud of the real you! No more hiding (and) playing with dolls because you’ll become the dream girl that you’ve always wanted to be and I know the world out there is harsh but with the support and love of your parents, you’ll be complete.

“No more hiding (and) playing with dolls because you’ll become the dream girl that you’ve always wanted to be.”

Do you have a message to rising queer artists?

Justine wearing her own design

There’s a reason why we have to grow up strong, especially in the world where we still have to fight for our rights. Continue expressing yourself and when an idea comes, go for it. never wait for inspiration cause look around you, it’s everywhere.

MY BEST FRIEND TOLD ME SHE LIKES ME

My Best Friend Told Me She Likes Me And I Don’t Know How To Feel

line
Maybe life does emulate the movies sometimes.

How would you feel when your best friend admits to having feelings for you? It’s not an easy as some may think it is.

Love really has a funny way of working, at least in my case that is. The only time I tried to pursue someone romantically was when I started to develop feelings for a classmate when I was in college. It was the first time that I really contemplated on pursuing a relationship. But things went sour quickly when we both attended a debut of a common friend and she brought someone else as her date.

I was going to make my move after the debut, but as you can expect, things didn’t pan out the way I wanted it. They’ve remained together ever since and I thought that was the last time I’ll focus my time on finding love. And for the rest of my college experience that was what happened. But it turns out love found me instead. The only problem was that it came from a complicated place.

WHEN YOUR BEST FRIEND LIKES YOU

I graduated college during the pandemic. Missing those final months of school really made me think of all the what ifs and what could have beens during my final semester in college. And one of those events made itself known to me just recently. A few weeks ago, my former blockmate, who is a close friend of mine, sent me a message on Messenger. I thought it was just a mundane message. But what caught me off guard was the fact that she told me she had a crush on me since we first met in second year college and originally wanted to tell me before our graduation. As you can imagine, my jaw instantly hit the floor because I never felt that she liked me romantically, nor did I see her in the same way.

I didn’t know what to say, so I left the message on read (I know, I know, but it was the only thing I could muster at the time) until I asked if we could talk the following week. Now, some of you may be thinking that me doing this was not a good idea. But how else would you react to a situation like this? I needed to get my thoughts together because for me, this wasn’t something I could think of on the spot. For the longest time, I saw our relationship as that of two close friends who feel comfortable around each other, like any best friends would. Most importantly, I value the friendship we built, especially since it has remained strong long after our time in college.

She’s the kind of person I can turn to if I just want to rant, ask for advice, or just let my mind be. Personally, I never saw our friendship that could turn into something more, because what we had was already special. I just felt it was a close friendship between two people, which is why I honestly got scared when she told me what was in her heart. While confessions of these sort will always mean a jolt of electricity in one’s system, I felt that this might lead to a misunderstanding between the two of us. What happens when I tell her I don’t like her like that and it ruins our friendship? That what was running through my mind at the time.

Luckily, she didn’t mind that I didn’t respond to her right away and agreed to meet and speak on this, because I felt that this kind of revelation required more than just a message on Facebook. When we met, she first said her piece and she explained why it took so long for her to admit it. I, on the other hand, didn’t feel comfortable beating around the bush and told her how I genuinely felt. Because what I didn’t want was to lie to her and then enter into a situation that both of us don’t want to be in.

We talked for a while and she told me that she doesn’t want to pursue a relationship unless I feel comfortable in doing so and that it’s okay if we just remain as friends. We opened our hearts in a way to each other and came to an understanding of where our friendship could go from there. It honestly went better than I expected and I think that was because we knew each other well already. While we both knew where each one was coming from, deep down inside, I still felt conflicted.

A MOVE I DIDN’T SEE COMING

The first time I met her was in second year college. She transferred to my block after originally coming from another school. At first, we weren’t close. But that changed a few months later when we became classmates in the same subject. From there, we started to get to know each other more and discovered that we had a lot of similarities. We then became good friends and in fact, she is one of the closest friends I made on campus. But the thing is, I never really saw her as someone to be in a relationship with. And by no means is this to shade her or anything. It just never occurred to me. So, when she admitted her feelings for me, I genuinely didn’t know what to say.

For some people, my situation is the makings for the perfect Wattpad novel or TV series. Others might say I’m being dumb for not pursuing this further. It’s a trope we’ve seen time and time again of two best friends who end up falling for each other. But there is a big difference between romantic and platonic love, which is just as valid. Because I am a guy and she’s a girl and she likes me, some assume that this is the go signal to start a romantic relationship. But not everything has to unravel like a romantic film, and a platonic relationship is just as worthy of a story to tell.

In this world, society usually expects people who are close to end up falling for each other. But there are situations, like mine, where it’s just a platonic relationship that’s comfortable and meaningful. I already enjoy a great friendship with her, just not the kind some may assume. The fact that we both understood and agreed together that not pursuing a romantic relationship is ok shows the kind of bond we built.

I do not want to enter a relationship without my whole heart in it, because the last thing I want is to force something out of this and ruin our friendship. I feel a genuine sense of comfort when I’m around her. But that doesn’t mean it has to turn into something romantic. Entering into this, especially just for the mere sake of being with someone can open up a can of worms both of us may not be ready to handle. Imagine if I dated her, but we broke up and never spoke to each other? I think I would spiral. But at the same time, a part of me wonders what would happen if I just took the plunge? What if I go on a date with her and our relationship actually blossoms? As they say, you miss all the shots you don’t take.

FROM BESTIES TO LOVERS?

I have already told her what I feel about the whole situation and she is okay with the fact that we can just remain as friends. They really are right when people say love is complicated. Of course, I don’t want any awkwardness between us. I have nothing but the utmost respect for her and I consider her to be a dear friend close to my heart, which is why this whole situation is racking my brain.

For other people who may be going through the same experience, the only advice I could give is to just follow what your heart and gut tells you, because at the end of the day, only you can decide what you feel is right for you. And if the girl who this story is about reads this, trust that I’ll probably spend the next few weeks thinking about what to do, just to be absolutely sure. Hopefully whatever I decide to do will be the one where I, and hopefully her, will end up the happiest.

We all want to find love in life, that much is true. But that love doesn’t strictly have to be love in a romantic sense. There’s love from family, love from friends, and love for self. There is love out there that makes sense even without the romance. And wherever the tide brings you, at the end of the day, what’s important is that you still love and are loved no matter where it comes from or how it is given.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 Review: Strong Work and Play Flexibility, Literally

line

Struggling to find a good in-between of your phone’s portability and the power and quality of your desktop? Our review of the Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 can help you decide if this is the tablet you should own.

It’s surprising how even until today, people still question the need for a tablet. Questions like, “What can a tablet do that my laptop or phone can’t already?” become the common argument. On the flip side, there are people who swear by the convenience and flexibility of a great tablet. Its portability, multi-functionality, and just straight up, no nonsense, ease-of-use makes it a great daily companion. I’ve long been on the fence about owning a tablet, so when Lenovo sent over their Yoga Tab 11 for me to use from day to night, I definitely made the most out of it. Through days working from home, outdoor shoots, and even those long sleepless nights, this is an in-depth review of the Lenovo Yoga Tab 11.

It’s just built different

First impressions last, and when it comes to gadgets, built quality can make or break how you feel about a device. The Yoga Tab 11 has to be one of the most uniquely-built tablets in the market today, with function at the forefront. The 11-inch 2K LCD display is built with Dolby Vision and carries TÜV eye care certification for less eye strain even after a binge session. The screen is surrounded by four JBL speakers optimized by Dolby Atmos—two on each side, and two at the bottom bar—for a near cinema-like video experience and a great music blaster. Mentioning those two alone can make some of you want to cop.

But if it looks good from the front, wait ‘til you see it from the back. The smooth polycarbonate exterior is matched with a gray fabric backing that adds grip and a premium touch. The biggest flex—literally—of this tablet is the built-in kickstand that gives it the Yoga name. It’s stiff enough to stand the tablet upright in almost any angle for easy viewing, layered with rubber padding to make it stable when raised from the table for comfortable typing, and able to rotate a full 180 degrees that allows it to hang freely on handles or walls.

This kickstand is my favorite feature of the device by far. I didn’t need to get a case for it because out of the box, it can be used how tablets are meant to be used. I prop it up beside my monitor for multitasking, or even let it hang on my steering wheel while waiting in the parking lot for hands-free watching. The cylindrical base at the bottom of the tablet even becomes a natural handle for my hand when I hold it in portrait mode, making it a no-issue for me.

Made for “me” time

The Yoga Tab 11 carries software smartly designed to blur the line that separates what you can use for work and play. With the Google and Microsoft suite of apps pre-installed, you can begin productivity right as you boot it up. I didn’t have any issues editing documents and spreadsheets on the fly with the large screen and snappy multitasking. Even on set for shoots, the Yoga Tab 11 was all that I used to revisit storyboards and type down notes thanks to Android’s Split-Screen feature that worked wonders on this display size. It was a bummer when I got the occasional WiFi connection drops, or when the built-in Notification-free Mode didn’t work as I’d hoped it would, but these are things future updates could address. The Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 is also bundled with the Lenovo Precision Pen 2 to boost productivity, such as take down notes and doodle in the pre-installed Squid or Bamboo Paper apps.

Switching from work to play is just a swipe away. Swipe left from the home screen and voilà, the Entertainment Space gives you a personalized access to all your favorite and recommended movies, TV shows, live streams, books, and games. All I had to do was connect my Google account, download the entertainment apps I already had accounts in, and connect them to the Space for a great curation. It took me a while to get used to this space, since I’ve been so used to having app shortcuts on my home screen which are just taps away, but this is a welcome feature to have. Now I can fill my home screens with useful widgets such as my inbox or the monthly calendar.

The Verdict

More than just being a reliable work partner, especially in this age of dynamic work environments, the Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 stands out as a media-lover’s must-have. I can’t stress enough how the 2K display paired with the booming sound system offer great movie and music experiences. The screen’s size, sharpness, and brightness is a step up from my phone screen, and the sound depth helps in the immersion. Portable entertainment won’t be possible without good battery and performance, and the 7,500mAh battery with the MediaTek octa-core processor gave me an amazing 15 hours of heavy usage, such as video streaming, scrolling through social media, and the occasional gaming such as Pokémon Unite. Plus, the luxury of having a 20W charger for fast charging made the whole package much sweeter.

During the day, the Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 is a multimedia tablet great for creative work that demands multitasking. But at night, I can just simply unfold the built-in kickstand, set the Dolby Atmos sound profile to “Movie”, and enjoy a night of catching up on Attack on Titan and binging LEMMiNO videos on YouTube with a drink in hand. Cheers to Me Time with Lenovo Yoga Tab 11!

Both are already members of Squad Plus and are set to make a big splash this year when they star in iWant TFC’s Bola Bola, JP Habac’s next project that also stars Francine Diaz and BGYO’s Akira.

ADIE

While Adie may have only released a handful of singles in 2021, some of those songs became some of the biggest OPM hits of the year. In particular, Paraluman and Tahanan became playlist and repeat favorites for those looking to get into their feels. 2021 was definitely a breakthrough year for him and it’s clear that Adie knows how to pen an emotional banger. Our hearts may not be 100% ready, but we can’t wait for more songs from Adie. Maybe an EP or LP this 2022?

AERIEL GARCIA

Initially starting out as a freelance model, Aeriel Garcia is now one of the freshest faces in the PH gaming scene. On her FB page, which has more than 400,000 followers, you can catch her stream games like PUBG and COD. And as a signed talent under Tier One, she’s part of a roster of some of the most popular streamers in the country. Not to mention the fact that she is getting married to Pat Sugui and has famous besties like Gabbi Garcia.

ANDI ABAYA

Looking for your next style inspo? Then look no further then Andi Abaya. Initially appearing on our screens as a housemate on PBB, Andi has slowly made a name for herself as a budding style star and lead actress potential. She recently was able to show off her acting skills in Saying Goodbye along with her love team partner Kobie Brown. With fun personality and sense of style, keep an eye out for this one.

ANGELA KEN

Angela Ken is proof that you can go on to achieve bigger and better things with social media. After the demo of her song Ako Naman Muna went viral on TikTok, she got signed to Star Magic and became a regular performer on ASAP. She already has a hit single under her belt and we can’t wait to hear more music from her. She is also set to make her acting debut this year in the anticipated musical series Lyric & Beat where she co-stars with some of the brightest stars of today such as Andrea Brillantes, Seth Fedelin, AC Bonifacio, Darren Espanto, and Jeremy Glinoga.

ANGELINA CRUZ

To some, Angelina Cruz is just known as the eldest daughter of Sunshine Cruz. But the eldest Cruz sister is proving that she is more than just her last name. Already, she has appeared in her fair share of advertisements and magazine covers and will likely appear in more in the future. She had a supporting role in last year’s Love Is Color Blind, which is the highest grossing local movie of 2021. Not bad for her film debut. She is a star in the making and we’re excited to see where her career goes from here. Oh, and she’s also a singer as if she wasn’t talented enough.

ANJI SALVACION

If you’ve been on Twitter in the past few months, then you may have noticed Anji’s name trending seemingly every other day. And that’s for good reason. Initially starting out as a musician, the Siargao native rose to fame thanks to her participation in the recent PBB Kumunity Season 10 celebrity edition. Despite being nominated for eviction six times, she powered through each one and charmed many viewers with her personality and story. She shined in the season and made it all the way to top two alongside Alyssa Valdez. With legions of new fans and a regular spot on ASAP Natin ‘To, Anji has the world in her hands.

ASHLEY DEL MUNDO

Like many of her peers, Ashley Del Mundo got her start by appearing on PBB where she made it far into her season. It was clear that she was a fan favorite and used her newfound fame to jumpstart a career in showbiz. Making her acting debut in He’s Into Her as Khloe, Ashley has so much potential behind her. And she’s a style star in the making that you shouldn’t sleep on.

ARTHUR NERY

Arthur Nery has been in the game since 2019. But it was only in 2021 that many truly recognized what this rising music star had to offer. His single, Pagsamo, became a number one hit and even broke Spotify PH records in the process. With critical and commercial success to his name, Arthur has a big career ahead of him. Fingers crossed that he drops that highly anticipated second album this year.

CHARLIZE RUTH

Charlize Ruth is a content creator who has built a following of over two million strong thanks to her videos that hit close to home for many people. Most of her videos have her recreating mundane life experiences that make us feel like we never had any original event happen in our lives such as her teacher. She’s just so charismatic on her videos, which is no surprise that many brands have gone to tap her. But aside from securing those checks, she also recently made the jump to TV where you can catch her on Quizon CT on Net 25.

CRIZA TAA

While Criza Taa’s time on PBB was short lived, she left an impressionable mark on viewers. So much so that she was able to start a career in acting, which includes appearances in Kadenang Ginto and MMK. But her most memorable role to date is that of Max’s best friend, Naih, in He’s Into Her. With, talent, the looks, a fun yet strong personality, and go-getter attitude, Criza Taa has the makings of a Gen Z star.

DANIELA STRANNER

While the name Daniela Stranner may be new to many, she actually has been active for a while. She was first introduced as part of the Star Magic Circle Batch 2018 alongside stars like Donny Pangilinan and Charlie Dizon. And while some of her batch have already gone on to achieve big things, Daniela’s time has finally come. She made her TV debut in Make It With You, which was sadly cancelled due to COVID-19. But she made her comeback in 2021 as she stared in Cathy Garcia-Molina’s Love at First Stream and snatched a best actress nomination at the 2021 MMFF. The stars are indeed aligning for this young actress.

JC ALCANTARA

JC Alcantara proved he can act in his episode of MMK. And his starring role in Hello Stranger and its movie sequel made us love him even more. 2022 is showing no signs that his momentum is slowing anytime soon. Already, he appeared in the third season of Click Like Share and is set to star in a new project featuring fellow new gen stars like Anthony Jennings, Daniela Stranner, Vivoree, and Kaori Oinuma.

JEREMIAH LISBO

Did someone say future leading man? Because Jeremiah Lisbo has all the potential to become one. The past year and a half proved to be a breakthrough for the FEU graduate as he appeared in Four Sisters Before The Wedding, He’s Into Her, Love At First Stream, and Love Is Color Blind. While often appearing as the third wheel to DonBelle, it’s only a matter of time before Jeremiah gets to shine on his own.

KAIA

Breakout P-pop group KAIA unveil pre-debut single 'KAYA' – watch |

As the first in-house P-pop girl group under ShowBT Philippines, KAIA understandably had expectations to meet. But the fact that they are the sister group to SB19, the pressure is on. But so far, it seems that KAIA has been meeting those expectations. With their pre-debut single KAYA, Charlotte, Angela, Sophia, Alexa, Charice, and Joanna proved that they have what it takes to go all the way. 2022 will be interesting to see what else they have to offer.

KAORI OINUMA

Kaori Oinuma has really gone from housemate on PBB Otso to future top-billed actress. The Japanese-Pinay landed 8th overall in her season and then quickly landed a role in 2019’s Parasite Island. But 2021 was her moment as she started in He’s Into Her as Michiko and Love at First Stream as Megumi. With season two of HIH coming this year as well as other projects, Kaori has the potential to make it big. And it also does help that she’s part of two rising love teams.

KD ESTRADA

Prior to his time on PBB, KD Estrada was mostly known as an up-and-coming musician. But his career got a healthy boost during his memorable run on the most recent celebrity edition of PBB. From opening up about his mental health, to his moments with Anji Salvacion, and his friendship with Alexa Ilacad, KD became a favorite. And speaking of Alexa, the two are now part of the breakout love team of 2022 and are set to have their own fancon and show this year. Add to that his role in Bola Bola, the future is bright for this young crooner.

LITZ

The past year saw many P-pop groups make their debut in the music scene, and from it we have our eyes on LITZ for 2022. Technically they haven’t debuted yet, which is why it’s all the more exciting to see their potential. Even though pre-debut single, Natataranta, was a cover of James Reid’s song, they gave it the LITZ twist and imbued it with an edgy flavor. Ashtine, Heart Ryan, Fatima, Bianca, and Yumi all exhibit star potential have delivered stage presence in the past. We have a feeling they’ll be one of the P-pop groups to shake it up this year.

NAIA

With Drag Den PH and Drag Race Philippines set to air in the near future, the local drag scene is finally going to get the spotlight it deserves. Just like how RuPaul’s Drag Race has opened doors for many queens, we have a feeling that quite a few local queens are about to get their much deserved attention. And one drag queen we have on our radar is Naia, who is also Manila Luzon-approved. Aside from serving fierce looks and doing digital drag shows, she also uses her TikTok account for good to dispel fake news and revisionism. Out of drag, he is Brian Black, an artist and budding actor who recently appeared in the series My Delivery Gurl on Cignal Play. He took on the role of young Bingo, the young version of Markki Stroem’s character.

PATRICK QUIROZ

Patrick Quiroz is that kind of all-rounder artist who has the potential to make it big. On the acting front, he’s appeared in shows like A Soldier’s Heart, Hello, Stranger, and most recently, He’s Into Her where he played Hunter. He also has a soulful voice that he’s demonstrated on multiple occasions, including variety shows on TV. And he’s also built himself a strong following on social media with over two million followers on TikTok alone. Patrick is definitely poised for big things in the future.

QUEEN DURA

2021 saw the rise and success of many social media stars. As for who else will join their ranks, TikTok star Queen Dura is on our radar. With over 900,000 followers and 26.8 million likes, Queen Dura is climbing the ranks as a creator to follow. You may have recently come across her viral expressions or her funny videos with a hint of sarcasm. If you’re looking for someone to follow with bundles of personality, Queen Dura should be on your list.

RADSON FLORES

Ever since we first got to know Radson Flores on Starstruck season seven, the young actor has been making all the right moves to become of the It-actors of the next generation. While has appeared on Dear Uge and Pepito Manaloto, 2022 is set to be his biggest yet when he stars as Mark Gordon, the 18-year-old rodeo champion with a unique personality in the anticipated live action adaptation of Voltes V, Voltes V: Legacy. With charming good looks and a winning personality, Radson is one to watch out for.

VXON

Looking For A New P-pop Group To Stan? Then Check Out VXON

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you make a debut. VXON, Cornerstone Entertainment’s very first P-pop boy group, immediately landed on the radars of many fans with the release of their debut single, The Beast, in January 2022. The music video screamed high quality and you could tell the production that went into making the video. The boys, meanwhile, showed charm, charisma, and stage presence in the video. line
Love life? I don't know her.

No relationship? No problem. Even if you’re single this Valentine’s Day, there are still things you can do to make the day of love a fun one.

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and love is definitely in the air. Couples are hard at work making their plans for the weekend while establishments are prepping for the surge of paired up romantics ready to enjoy this special moment. But for those who are single, Valentine’s Day can leave a bitter taste in one’s mouth, especially if you just came from a breakup. Almost everywhere you look you see things related to love while you remain firmly single in life. But Valentine’s weekend doesn’t have to be a sour time for you. There are still things those who are single in life can do to make the Hearts Day a fun and less lonely one. Check out these five options:

TREAT YOURSELF TO A VALETINE’S DAY TREAT

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, many restaurants, bakeries, and other food establishments are rolling out the red carpet to introduce their limited-edition Valentine items. And while you may think those are just for couples, they actually aren’t. There isn’t a rule banning non-couples from enjoying most of these delectable meals. So, why not treat yourself to one? All these Valentine’s inspired cakes and desserts have caught our eye and some are even in our cart. If it looks good to you, get it, they aren’t going to stop you.

HANGOUT WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Hangouts GIFs | Tenor

More often than not, we associate Valentine’s Day with people in a romantic relationship. But Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be just limited to showing to your significant other. It should also be a time where we show love to people who are special to us for different reasons, such as your best friends or family members, which is why a good way to spend the romantic semi-holiday is to spend time with family and friends. Eat out, go shopping, catch a movie, play some video games, or take a scroll through a park. What matters is that you spend your time with people who truly care about you.

ENJOY A MOVIE NIGHT

14 Things to Do With Friends (Other Than Dinner) | Cup of Jo

A few things in life beat the experience of enjoying a good movie. Whether you’re at home or watching at the cinemas, a night, or day, at the movies can always lift up one’s spirits. And you don’t have to do it alone if you don’t want to. You can do it with your friends or family for a more communal experience. The movie choice is up to you, it doesn’t have to be a rom-com or something romantic. You’re just here to have a good time and escape into another world.

GET YOURSELF A GIFT

A List Of The Best Gifts To Give Your Korea Loving Friends & Family

This Valentine’s Day, you’re going to nurture one of the most important relationships you will ever have in your life, the relationship to yourself. Instead of spending your money on flowers or a gift on a significant other, spend that money on yourself. Eyeing a new pair of headphones? Get it. Looking to get yourself a fresh pair of kicks? Add to cart. If something from these Valentine’s collections has caught your eye and you really want it, there’s no shame in treating yourself. You earned it.

HUG A TREE

I tried tree hugging - and it gave me the warm fuzzies - DOSE

No one to hug on Valentine’s Day? Then why not hug a tree? The DENR and the Forest Management Bureau (FMB) are launching the Tree Hugging Day Campaign, which will run from Feb 14 to 18. Instead of going through the struggles of finding a significant other, all you have to do is like the FMB Facebook and follow their Instagram account. Then share the event post from the FMB page or Instagram. Afterwards, go to a tree and post a photo showing a creative way of hugging a tree with a short description of the importance of tree-hugging along with the hashtags #TreeHuggingDay #PunoNgPagmamahal, and #ValentinesDay. And to make it even more fun, DENR-FMB will be sending tokens to selected participants with best entries in their Tree Hugging Campaign. Spreading environmental awareness and get rewarded at the same time. What’s not to love about that?

1. NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU CAME FROM

@bryanboy

Flew back to the Philippines ??

“Sh*t, anong gagawin ko? Developing country ‘yan! Nakakatakot, hindi ko sya brand!” Bryanboy documented his trip back to the Philippines and made this mini rant on TikTok about how face shields are the ugliest and useless things that ever existed. In the same conversation, he says, “Wag mo kalimutan kung saan ka nanggaling 70 years ago.” The TikTok now has 14.3 million views.

2. BRYANBOY SHARES WHAT HE LEARNED FROM PARIS HILTON

@bryanboy

??

♬ original sound – Bryanboy

From one icon to another, Bryanboy shared wisdom that he’s learned from the best marketing person ever: Paris Hilton. She gave him a lot of sensible business advices, but one that stood out was: “Dapat daw, bawat galaw ko, binabayaran ako ng kwarta.” Facts.

3. HIS TWO CENTS ON FILIPINO FEATURES

@bryanboy Reply to @criss.grey ♬ original sound – Bryanboy

When a TikTok user tried to call out Bryanboy for skin lightening and surgery to get rid of his Filipino features, he had to sit them down. It’s a stereotypical mindset accusing Filipino immigrants for being too “white-washed” once they come back to the Philippines, but it’s not a reason to generalize that fact. “Wala po sa features ang pagiging Filipino,” he says.

4. BRYANBOY’S THOUGHTS ON HOW MONEY ISN’T EVERYTHING

@bryanboy Reply to @s4mmy.zxc ♬ original sound – Bryanboy

Wala akong pakialam kung gaano karami ng pera ng isang tao hindi naman madadala sa langit ‘yan,” a user commented on one of Bryanboy’s TikToks. WRONG. While there is a certain truth to the matter, which he relented to, he asserts that since we are still living on Earth, survival means paying the bills, bills, bills.

5. BEING MADAMOT CAN ACTUALLY BE A GOOD THING

@bryanboy

Real talk: tips kung paano maging mayaman

♬ original sound – Bryanboy

With his work revolving around attending fashion weeks and being surrounded by the finer things, it’s understandable that one would ask, “How to be you po?” In a response, Bryanboy kept it real by advicing his followers to be madamot, only because the best way to save money is to remind yourself that you are not the central bank to give so much of yourself and your earnings away.

6. FORCING SOMEONE TO BE GOOD DOESN’T MAKE YOU ONE

@bryanboy Reply to @kimmerytk1 ♬ original sound – Bryanboy

If anything, Bryanboy is unfiltered, keeping it real each and every time, and rightly so. Here, he explains that it’s better to hold yourself accountable and admit that you’re not as perfect as you think than to convince everyone else that you’re righteous. That’s on what? Maturity.

7. IT’S EVERY PARENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO GUIDE THEIR KIDS, NOT THEIR IDOLS

@bryanboy

Ang tanging ina ??‍?

♬ original sound – Bryanboy

We live in a world where celebrities are treated like gods. Their influence may play a huge role to some people, but that doesn’t mean they’re responsible for shaping one’s mindset and lifestyle. “Bakit hindi mo tawagan ang Bantay Bata? Tawagan mo ang mga nanay nila tapos ipa-Tulfo mo, go!”

8. CALLING SOMEONE A SOCIAL CLIMBER DOESN’T MAKE SENSE

@bryanboy

Real talk: tips kung paano maging mayaman ??

♬ original sound – Bryanboy

You know the old saying, “Tell me who you friends are and I’ll tell you who you are?” This applies to everyone. Like what Bryanboy says, “Anong mas pipiliin mo? Makikipag-kaibigan ka sa taong mas matalino sa’yo or makikipag-kaibigan ka sa mga taong kasing b*bo mo rin?” There’s nothing wrong with being friends with people who inspire you to be a better version of yourself. In fact, isn’t that the best kind of friendship?

9. ON PLASTIC SURGERY

@bryanboy Reply to @zasnifa ♬ original sound – Bryanboy

Over the years, Bryanboy’s been frequently asked if he’s had any work done to which he admitted that he did. Besides, what’s wrong with doing so and ultimately being happier with the way you look? He then explains that one of the reasons why people are driven to get plastic surgery is because of how society looks down upon them for their looks. “Wala naman po talaga tayong karapatang humusga sa pinag-gagagawa ng mga tao sa katawan nila.” Word!

10. HOW TO DEAL WITH FRIENDS THAT DON’T PAY THEIR DEBTS

@bryanboy Reply to @pauiekan ♬ original sound – Bryanboy

There’s a reason why money’s said to be the root of all evil. In another TikTok, Bryanboy answers a question about how to follow up with a friend who borrowed money from you without ruining the friendship. Without batting an eyelash, he answers that it could probably be their fault too for tolerating the delay. At the end of the day, you have to stand your ground, and collect what is due you. And if you really are friends, then they would completely understand that.

11. WHEN BRYANBOY REMINDED EVERYONE TO VOTE WISELY

@bryanboy Reply to @hsdjdhejdksla ♬ original sound – Bryanboy

In a question asked about Bryanboy’s thoughts on why same sex marriage is never going happen in the Philippines, he answered it with so much truth. “‘Yung mga batas sa Pilipinas, reflection po ‘yan ng mga decisions ng politicians na binoboto ninyo.” He further explains that we have to be careful with who we vote for, because if they’re misogynistic, sexist, or homophobic, chances are high that their policies and moral compass are the same.

12. EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN DEFINITION OF HAPPINESS

@bryanboy Reply to @p0lid0 ♬ original sound – Bryanboy

TikTok’s favorite ninang gets it right. When a user commented that he can never relate to her happiness of having a child despite being poor and a single mom, Bryanboy had the snappiest response. “I’m happy for you,” he reminds her that while she can’t relate with his lifestyle, he remains happy despite not having a child because he’s living his dream job, is happily married, and financially capable. “Hindi kita ide-demand na maka-relate sa akin kasi happiness ko ‘yan.”

BONUS: THE TIKTOK THAT STARTED IT ALL
