Unless you’ve been hiding off from social media these past months, then you may have come across someone posting about Wordle. Even if you haven’t played it, you most likely has seen someone talk about it or post their score on Twitter. The word game has become the internet’s latest online obsession and has become so popular that the New York Times bought it in a multi-million dollar deal. Of course, with its massive popularity comes the fact that it has spawned countless spin-offs. For example, you may already have heard of it’s Tagalog counterpart Saltong. And considering how NYT‘s new ownership of Wordle has led to a slew of controversies, now might be the time to find other games to play. If you’re looking for more free online word games like Wordle, here are a few we feel are worthy to try.

WORDLE BTS

How To Play The BTS-Inspired Wordle

For all the ARMY and BTS fans out there, this one is for you. Think you have an encyclopedic knowledge of all things BTS? Then try out Wordle BTS. The game is basically like Wordle, expect for the fact that every five letter word you guess will be related to BTS. And another cute and BTS-centric change in the game is that when you guess the right letter in the right spot, the box turns purple instead of green. Purple, of course, is a special color for BTS and ARMY.

WORLDLE

Image

Love geography? Then you may end up loving this game. Test out your geography skills and knowledge of countries in Worldle. In the game, you have six tries to determine the country through it’s shape. If you get the wrong answer, it will show the distance between your guess and where the actual country is, as well as in which direction it is. If having the shape of the country makes it too easy, then you can change the settings to make it more challenging.

Another geography themed game to try is Globe Game, also known as Globle. Here, you are given unlimited tries to guess the mystery country of the day. The thing is you aren’t given any clues. Just type down a country and it will be shaded depending on how close it is to the actual answer. The closer the guess is to the correct answer, the darker shade of red it gets.

DORDLE

What Is Dordle? Everything You Need to Know

If guessing one word a day seems to easy for you, then check out Dordle. Here, you have to guess two words at the same time. You have to guess two five-letter words and have seven guesses to do so. There are two modes you can try, Daily Dordle which is the daily once a day challenge, and Free Dordle which lets you play as long as you want. Double the challenge but double the fun. If you want to up the difficulty, there’s Quordle where you can solve four words at the same time. And if you truly are a gluten for punishment, try Octordle which is guessing eight words in thirteen tries. Because why just solve one word when you can solve eight right?

PRIMEL

Wordle' spin-off 'Primel' will make your head hurt

Admittedly, Wordle is a good way to practice your vocabulary skills. So, why not use these games to test your other skills as well? This is where Primel comes in. In this game, players need to guess a five number prime number. As a refresher, a prime number is a number that can only be divided by one and itself. If you’re looking to test your math skills even further, you can try Nerdle or Mathdle, which both has you solve the equation of the day.

SWORDLE

For fans of all things Star Wars, this one is for you. As the name suggests, SWordle is a Star Wars themed take on Wordle. The cool thing about this game is that both canon and legends timelines are used as words in the game. So if your Wookiepedia skills are up to it, try it out. And if you really want to test your Star Wars skills, you can also play the game in Aurebesh mode, where all the letters and numbers are changed to the in-universe writing system. Another Star Wars focused game that you can play is Star Wordle. If you’re looking for other pop culture fandom centric games to try, check out Hogwartle (Harry Potter), and Squirdle (Pokémon).

TAYLORDLE

Taylordle: Wordle For Taylor Swift Fans - Hawkdive.com

BTS isn’t the only musician to have their own Wordle-inspired game. There is also a Taylor Swift centric one, and it’s called Taylordle. Created by Holy Swift Podcast, the game works similarly to Wordle expect that the words you need to guess come from the Swift universe. So, for example, the five letter word you might guess could be snake, album, or lover. While Wordle (Taylor’s Version) would have been a great name for this, we’re still fine with what we’ve got.

FRAMED

Framed is like Wordle but with movie stills to identify | Rock Paper Shotgun

Do you consider yourself a cinephile? Or are you just a casual movie viewer? Regardless of where you stand, you may want to try out Framed. This spin-off requires you to guess the movie in six guesses or less. You are only given a screenshot from the movie and with every wrong guess, you get a new picture to help you out. So put your film knowledge to the test, or maybe use this to find your next favorite movie. Another film-centric game to try is Flickle which is like Framed expect that you guess the movie through clips, not screenshots.

QUEERDLE

Queerdle is the only good Wordle clone (because it's gay)

Queerdle is basically if Wordle hit the slay button. This LGBTQIA+ version of the popular word game has users guess words that are related to the community. Also, unlike Wordle, the words guessed here range from five to eight letter words. Whether you’re part of the community or an ally, this is a game that will have you going yasss!

LEWDLE

Meet "Lewdle," "Worlde" for the Naughty!

Regarded as the adult version of Wordle, Lewdle has you guess words that may be too mature for young audiences. Dig deep into your rolodex of dirty words as you try to guess the word in as little guesses as possible. The cool thing about this game is that when you share your results on Twitter, it actually encourages others to play the original. And if you really want to let your foul mouth fly, then try Sweardle, where the only words you have to guess are four letter cuss words. Considering how the New York Times has started removing words it deems offensive from the original game, you may want to try these out.

HEARDLE

Heardle is like Wordle for pop music - The Verge

If you ever hoped for a Wordle-type game but focused only on music, you got your wish with Heardle. In this game, you have to guess the song title and the artists in six tries or less. All you are given though is a snippet of the track. So, if you think you’ve got what it takes, then test out your audiophile ears and see just how many song intros you know. And if you’re looking for a BTS centric take, then check out BTS Heardle. It’s basically the same game but it’s just BTS songs.

WORDLE ARCHIVE

Play All Wordle Games Together With New Archive Version: Here's How

Have you only begun playing Wordle just recently? New to the hype? Well have no fear as this game has archived all the past words used in Wordle for users to play through once more. Created by Devang Thakkar, Wordle Archive allows users to guess any past word so new players can catch up while old players can brush up on their skills.

Giving Us Goosebumps: ONF Is Far From Done Showing New Sides To Them

"I hope that our music will always give our fans energy and hope."

K-pop boy group ONF open up about their latest release Goosebumps, the love they get from their fans, and much more.

When it comes to the most talked about K-pop, there is a lot to take in. But even its often overwhelming saturation, there is always something to look forward to. And from this ever growing list, the boys of ONF are in it for the long haul, changes and all. Composed of Hyojin, E-tion, J-Us, Wyatt, MK, and U, ONF made their debut in 2017. The group features a unique two team system. The first is the ON team composed of leader Hyojin, E-Tion, and MK who showcase their strong vocals. Meanwhile, the OFF team, composed of leader J-Us, Wyatt and U showcase their strong performances. Together, they combine their strengths to deliver slick, sharp, and memorable performances whenever they hit the stage.

ONF NYLON Manila Headline - Collage by Kenneth Dimaano

Over the years, ONF has amazed their fans, called FUSE, with a diverse discography, crisp look, and strong stage presence. The boys got a much deserved breakthrough when they competed in Road to Kingdom and amazed viewers, both in Korea and internationally, with what they had to offer. While they didn’t win, their second place overall finish accorded them the recognition they worked hard for. Shortly after the show, ONF scored their first placement on the Gaon Digital Chart with the song New World. Since then, they’ve achieved many milestones including dropping their first studio album, ONF : My Name, in February 2021 and getting their first music show win for their song Beautiful Beautiful.

In November 2021, the group announced that every member, expect for U, would be enlisting in mandatory military service the following month. But before that, they gave their fans an early Christmas present of sorts with the release of their sixth mini-album, Goosebumps, a varied body of work mixing elements of R&B, pop, and synth. In an interview with NYLON Manila, ONF discusses their latest release, what keeps them going, their goals for the future, and more.

You have had quite the past few years so far, especially in the past few months releasing My Name, City Of ONF, and now with Goosebumps. How does it feel to be where you are now, making music, connecting to people all over the world, and of course, living your own dreams?

Hyojin: I’m happy that our music is receiving so much love from more and more people. I hope to continue bringing energy with good music and performances to many people out there and show us that we keep improving.

E-Tion: I’d like to thank all our fans around the world for listening to our music and supporting us. I feel more responsible and it inspires me to improve. I will work even harder for our music to reach a wider audience.

Tell us more about Goosebumps. What are your favorite tracks from the album and why? What makes this different from the previous releases you did?

Wyatt: This album, Goosebumps, gives a diverse showcase of the musical spectrum with a sensational worldview. It differentiates itself from previous albums by showing a more mature side of us. Goosebumps, which is the title track, is compelling dance music and represents the unique color of ONF with an intense and attractive sound. Its original narrative deviates from the grammar of existing pop music. Show Must Go On is my favorite track from this album. The song is about our determination. It is fun and resonates with overwhelming emotion.

U: In contrast to previous albums that portrayed freedom, youth, refreshing and positive energy, this album ‘Goosebumps’ is about the fear hidden underneath and coming to face the past as a nightmare. This showcases more of our intense charm. My favorite track is ‘Whistle.’ The unique melody and outpouring rhythm in the chorus are the charming point. The song tells an intriguing story about a man who turned into a cat under a curse and makes you want to listen again.

Like your contemporaries in K-pop, you’ve had to go through so much—ups, downs, and a lot of in-betweens—what keeps you guys going? What motivates every one of you to keep on keeping on?

J-Us: FUSE is my motivation who make us move as they gain strength from our music and support us. I think our interaction with FUSE brings out the best energy in us onstage.

MK: FUSE is my only one biggest motivation. Even in difficult times, thinking about FUSE will give me superhuman strength to solve any problems. They make me quickly forget about all the tough and sad moments and I can keep on going thanks to FUSE.

How do you make sure you not only hold your own but stand out with what you can offer?

E-Tion: It comes from our endless practice and passion. We worked hard to put together a perfect stage by thoroughly assessing every performance of ours. FUSE, of course, has always been our motivation to make it possible.

U: I think it comes from our teamwork. Throughout every moment we’ve been together to promote, we’ve become considerate of one another and understand each other very well. Knowing that we have each other keeps us in good spirits onstage.

Your music is always a journey. While there are bops and bangers, there are also ballads and beats that tug your heartstrings. How do you guys challenge each other to be better than the last time?

Hyojin: We’ve relied on each other and complemented weaknesses in each other along the way. The strong trust and bonding we built over time allowed us to share our problems and help one another to grow to be more complete as ONF.

MK: We fill each other’s weaknesses as we rely on one another. We willingly share any advice or ideas that we think might help other members. We’re making a constant effort to have conversations frequently and encourage and build up one another.

While we are still going through a global pandemic, how has this time challenged or inspired you and your music? What is the experience like connecting with a more attuned audience from all corners of the world?

J-Us: As the whole world is experiencing the pandemic, we try to make more positive and energetic songs to give hope all around. Even though we cannot meet with our loving fans from all around the world in person right now, I feel connected with them at heart. I hope for the situation to get better so that we can go around the world to meet with worldwide FUSE.

Wyatt: The pandemic has inspired me to make songs filled with more hope and energy for our fans. It encouraged me to be determined to beat the situation by writing hopeful lyrics. It allowed us to perform our music online to worldwide fans but I hope to perform in person once the pandemic ends as soon as possible.

What has kept each of you going and pushing and fighting in a time like this?

Hyojin: Having faith in each other and FUSE who generously give us love kept me going. I will keep fighting for my members and FUSE.

Wyatt: For me, it was my members who kept me going. I feel shy to talk about my feelings about them but they were always there for me in difficult times to comfort and encourage me to come all the way together. I’m always grateful to them.

What has been the reaction like? How does it feel whenever you’ve worked hard on new music, perfect it, and finally share it with the world?

E-Tion: I think we introduce a new concept for every release of our new album. Sometimes, it makes me a bit anxious as to how they will be received. But FUSE is always positive about our taking on new challenges and they support us. Then I feel relieved and feel grateful for them.

MK: Having people always on our side who support us is empowering. Our new title ‘Goosebumps’ received lots of love so we could perform with more strength onstage. We think of releasing every album as taking on a new challenge, so we get very nervous but proud and happy at the same time.

With a whole lot still ahead of you as a band, what is it you want to achieve? How do you want to be defined or remembered for in music?

J-Us: I want to be defined as an icon of hope so that our music can give strength to others and have a positive effect on their lives. My goal is a world tour. I haven’t met FUSE beyond the camera lens, so one day I want to go on a world tour and meet with FUSE face to face.

U: We recently had our first solo concert. Next time, I want to travel on a world tour to see our fans abroad. And I hope that our music will always give them energy and hope. We have yet to meet them in person, but we are always connected through music in which we hope to spread our message all around.

What else can we expect from you moving forward?

Hyojin: Please look forward to our continuous challenges in music and performances. We have a lot more to show you than what we’ve shown you thus far. Please show us support as we’ll continue to grow step by step.

J-Us: We will be apart for only briefly but our music will continue so please look forward to seeing the best of us when we come back.

All The Times Rihanna Was The True Definition Of Risqué And Left The World Shook

line
You may now refer to her as her "Right Excellent," thank you.

The bad gal only has the baddest surprises for the world.

Despite baring it all since her career began in the early 2000s, Rihanna is still one of those celebrities that remain unpredictable. Sure, everything she does is risqué—and we’re not just talking about skin—the bad gal is the true definition of risk-taker, especially when she became the first woman of color to lead her own luxury brand at retail giant LVMH (sitting alongside the likes of Louis Vuitton, Dior, Tiffany & Co., Fendi). Aside from her philanthropic efforts, representation for different POC around the world stands strong and has always been her priority. And in light of her unveiling her baby bump (finally!), here are eight times Rihanna left the world shook.

1. WHEN SHE HAD BEEF WITH INSTAGRAM

Rihanna’s Instagram account from 2012-2014 was a gold mine of sultry selfies, stunning street style photos, and only the most savage clapbacks as well-documented by Rihplies. But when she was banned from the app and deleted her account (by mistake as they claimed), fans assumed that it was because of her controversial, topless magazine cover to which they called out the platform for being sexist. Of course, she was also one of the first to join the #FreeTheNipple movement. She even talked about in on her song, Sex With Me, where she says, “Stay up off my Instagram, pure temptation.” Thankfully, she made a comeback after six months with the hashtag “#RIHunited.”

2. WHEN RIHANNA SURPRISED US ALL WITH AN ALBUM DROP THAT’S HOPEFULLY NOT HER LAST

When Rihanna released her 8th studio album Anti in 2016, nobody saw it coming. It has zero skips and absolutely showed the Barbadian singer’s vocal prowess, vulnerability, and tenacity altogether. Well, it’s been almost six years and we’re still in a Rihanna drought. But even then, Anti remains on its 302nd week in the Billboard charts to this day. What would you feel though if it was her last? Say it isn’t so, Riri. *Sobs in the corner*

3. HER CFDA AWARDS LOOK THAT WE STILL CAN’T MOVE ON FROM

Rihanna always shuts down the red carpet and that’s just a fact. With countless Met Gala looks among many others, a Fashion Icon award given by the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2014 was unprecedented. Her Swarovski-encrusted naked dress by Adam Selman still lives in our heads rent-free, along with her unforgettable speech. “She can beat me, but she cannot beat my outfit.” WORD.

4. WHEN FENTY BEAUTY’S 50-SHADE RANGE OF FOUNDATION MADE OTHER BRANDS SWEAT

Have we not learned from Rihanna’s roasts in the past? Clearly, the point was missed when a shady post by a makeup brand captioned their products that “40 shades isn’t something new,” proving that they’re still the “experts,” which made Rihanna fire back. From the beginning, Fenty Beauty’s objective was to be inclusive to all women and men of color who’ve been having trouble finding the right foundation shade for their skin tones, hence the creation of 50 shades. Another first.

5. WHEN SHE SMASHED A DOZEN WORLD RECORDS

For a career spanning 16 years, Rihanna’s already broken a lot of world records on and off the charts, including six Guinness World Records. In 2014, she was crowned “Most Liked Person on Facebook” dethroning rapper Eminem.

6. AWARDED “NATIONAL HERO” OF BARBADOS

That Rihanna reign just won’t let up. She will now be addressed, “The Right Excellent,” after Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Mottley honored her as the country’s National Hero. As she should! “Nothing compares to being recognized by the soil you grew up in,” she says.

7. WHEN RIHANNA’S SAVAGE X FENTY BROUGHT ALL THE SMOKE TO THE VICTORIA’S SECRET FASHION SHOWS

No one else can make us comfortable in our own skin other than our savior, Rihanna. She made every body type feel seen and heard when she launched her own lingerie line, Savage X Fenty in 2018. Athletes, amputees, singers, heck, even pregnant women and personalities of all walks of life were the stars of the her much-anticipated runway shows which often had the most theatric performances. After countless incidents of body-shaming in the industry (including herself), Rihanna took another big step in making the world a better place.

8. HER PREGNANCY REVEAL

Ever since the world was introduced to “Thick-anna,” the singer’s been subject to pregnancy rumors constantly. And that’s not to say there’s anything wrong with it except it gets annoyingly repetitive. “Y’all breed me every year dammit,” she responds to a fan who says everyone is just up in her uterus right now. Fast forward to two months later, and she announced her pregnancy in the most Rihanna way: with a street style pic wearing a Chanel 1996 archive coat. She has forever upped the standard of maternity wear. Legendary. Maybe body-shamers could learn a thing or two from telling pregnant women to cover up. Congratulations to everyone, we’re all aunties and uncles now!

Bella Poarch And Valkyrae’s Valentine’s Photoshoot Was So Steamy It Broke Dropbox

line
Remind us to not get on their bad side.

First she broke internet records. And now, Bella Poarch, along with her Valkyrae, recently broke the internet with their NSFW Valentine’s photoshoot.

Related: Whoa, Bella Poarch Just Slayed In This Fierce Terno-Inspired Dress

You most likely know who Bella Poarch is. She went from becoming a TikTok sensation into fast rising musician and fashion star. And you also know who Valkyrae is. She’s one of the most popular streamers in video games and has millions of followers across her social media profiles. The muti-awarded creator is also a businesswoman as she is one of the owners of 1000 Thieves, an esports and gaming organization.

But did you know that these two barrier-breaking Pinays are actually besties IRL? The two have hung out on multiple occasions and Valkyrae has even made a cameo in Bella’s music video. So, when Bella needed someone to join her for her Valentine’s Day shoot, it was a no brainer that she would connect with her fellow Filipina. And their too hot to handle collab was definitely something, as it literally broke Dropbox.

BELLA AND VALKYRAE GET DARK AND STEAMY

Released on Valentine’s Day 2022 via Bella’s website, the drop consisted of photos the two took together. This being something special, the duo made sure it was a memorable one. It doesn’t take a lot of to see that the theme of the steamy shoot was Valentine’s with a dark twist (read: BDSM) served in multiple looks. One look sees Bella and Valkyrae don black and red leather outfits and lingerie with props that included red rope and a teddy bear.

Considering how Bella was tapped to walk in Rihanna’s SavagexFenty show in 2021, we are already used to seeing the young star bare her skin. But what really caught us off guard was Valkyrae. We know she can turn a look, but we weren’t expecting her to show this much skin. In line with the dark BDSM vibe, another set of photos had them hold a dagger and sword, as well as a heart, evoking vixens of the night who take away the hearts of men. While another look sees the duo switch to red and black with Bella wearing a top that leaves little to the imagination.

They then switch to white outfits to show off their sweeter and more innocent side as a contrast to their bold leather looks.

Aside from this, Bella’s website also contains behind-the-scenes clips of the shoot, as well as Bella Poarch-themed love cards to give to your significant other.

BELLA AND VALKYRAE BREAK THE INTERNET

Both Bella and Valkyrae look absolutely stunning as they served look after look. And clearly we weren’t the only ones taken by their beauty as many people descended on the site to see what was up. Their Valentine’s surprise sent pulses raising and made fans understandably go wild. And in fact, so many people went on the site that the Dropbox link containing the photos and video they made during the shoot was suspended because of so much traffic.

As shared by Bella, Dropbox sent her an email informing her that the links she posted were temporarily suspended due to heavy traffic and clicks. So yeah, it’s fair to say that Bella Poarch and Valkyrae broke the internet. You’re not the only one Kim K. You can check out the photos and video here but be warned, most of these are NSFW so it may be best to check them out in private. A wholesome shoot this is not.

WHO’S DOING IT LIKE THEM?

This actually isn’t the first time Bella was with fellow Filipinos. Bella enjoys a great friendship and has hung out on occasion with Bretman Rock and Bryanboy. And just recently, Bella was spotted sitting beside another fast rising Filipina, Olivia Rodrigo, at the Super Bowl. And this also isn’t the first time two Filipinas worked together for an epic project. Just recently, Saweetie and H.E.R. worked together for the first time for a song called Closer and it’s a whole bop.

If this situation has taught us anything, a.) we need more Bella and Valkyrae content, and b.) Filipinas in the global scene continue to stay winning. Now the only thing we need now is for Bella Poarch and Olivia Rodrigo to collab and maybe Bella might break the internet again.

TREASURE Finally Makes Their Highly Anticipated Comeback With JikJin And It Feels So Good

line
Hopefully the first of many releases for TREASURE this 2022.

After more than a year, TREASURE is finally back and they didn’t come to play with JikJin and the beginning of their new era.

Related: 7 4th Generation K-Pop Boy Groups That You Need To Be Paying Attention To

In some ways, TREASURE’s career is that of excitement meets long periods of patience. The road to debut for TREASURE had its ups and downs, as well as name and lineup changes. But in 2020, they finally made their much anticipated debut with the release of their single BOY in August 2020. And the rest of that year was filled with single releases and award wins that proved TREASURE was worth the hype as a 4th gen boy group to watch out for.

Hyunsuk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Mashiho, Jaehyuk, Asahi, Yedam, Doyoung, Haruto, Jeongwoo, and Junghwan weren’t to be noticed just because of the fact they came from YG and was their first boy group since 2015. They also have the talent, charm, personality, and stage presence. But after the release of their debut album, The First Step: Treasure Effect, in January 2021, the group was nearly radio silent on the release front for the rest of the year. It was definitely a frustrating moment for many fans who wanted to see more of the boys. But finally, the time has come. TREASURE is finally back with the release of their comeback single JikJin and their first EP, The Second Step: Chapter One.

GO STRAIGHT TO YOU

JikJin, which means straight in Korean, skews more to the sound of past TREASURE releases with it’s pop/EDM flavor. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad though, far from it. Starting relatively tame, it then explodes into an EDM chorus as the boys sing about falling in love and going straight for that special someone’s heart. And by the time the song reaches its finale, it delivers an all-out memorable and bombastic closer to make sure you won’t be forgetting JikJin anytime soon.

The finale somewhat calls back to the closers of songs like BANG BANG BANG from BIG BANG and DDU-DU DDU-DU from BLACKPINK, which is a great compliment. It’s music video, meanwhile, screams budget and you can tell the group really put effort into making this a great comeback. The visuals, looks, choreo, sets, production design, and cinematography are all on point.

NEW YEAR, NEW ERA

TREASURE drops new concept poster for upcoming mini album 'THE SECOND STEP: Chapter One' | allkpop

JikJin though isn’t the only new TREASURE release to enjoy. The group also dropped the EP, The Second Step: Chapter One, filled with four brand new songs and six if you bought the CD version. Considering how the land of new TREASURE music has been like a dessert, this is very much welcome news for many fans.

TREASURE continues the preparation for their comeback and drops the title poster | allkpop

As the name of the EP suggests, their new album is the beginning or first chapter of their new era, their second step in their journey. TREASURE is now set to present a new side of themselves, one where they get to show their growth, passion, dedication, and talents to even more people. We’re very much excited to see what else they have to offer this go around. And hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long for new music.

All Grown Up: These Cool Kids Have Style And They Know It

line
Their style is already 10x better than ours.

Bite-sized fashion? Nah. They’ve got the whole ‘fit in the bag.

When Kim K graced the cover of Vogue’s March 2022 issue, it wasn’t exactly her who stole the show. The real stars were North West and three of her sibs, where it was revealed that eldest was apparently in charge of picking all the clothes for Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. That explains the lime green Kawasaki top and purple pants on Saint, Chi’s Chicago Bears jersey and pink cowboy boots, Saint’s flannel and Yeezy sneakers (obvi from their dad), and North in her mom’s Levi’s.

Style for kids isn’t what it used to be. Now, you see young’uns in the flyest clothes, which for the fortunate ones mean an access to the enviable closets of their parents. With an archive of clothing that’s way, way older than them, it’s rare that they could go wrong. Just check out Kendra Kramer, Stormi Webster, and the Norwood kids’ style that’s already ten times better than ours. Scroll down below to see more of these fashion icons on the rise that are all grown up (seriously, where did the time go?) with the best outfits. Safe to say, the kids are alright.

1. KENDRA KRAMER

12-year-old Kendra Kramer, the eldest daughter of Cheska and Doug Kramer has been in the spotlight since she was young. Getting endorsements, magazine features, and filming vlogs along with her siblings, Scarlett and Gavin, it wasn’t a surprise that she’d bloom into a sophisticated woman, especially with her latest shoot where she was decked in a Coach bucket hat, a pink fur coat, and a feathered headpiece. Most people are already betting on her to become the future Miss Universe, including Pia Wurtzbach. We’re honestly excited to see more of Kendra’s OOTDs and how she’ll be exploring her style as she grows.

2. KELI TEO

We’re not sure how to keep up with Kelicia “Keli” Teo’s busy schedule. Aside from having impeccable taste in fashion early on and raiding her mom’s designer closet, the 9-year old daughter of Dr. Aivee and Z Teo has proven to be fit for the role she’s about to play in her family’s beauty empire. For real, she’s been posting a lot of her workout routines on her IG account and was even featured on a Singaporean channel. If anything, Keli’s been stealing her followers’ hearts ever since she shared her quirky and colorful sense of style ever at age six. Now that’s a rising style icon.

3. CASH, ORION, AND IZZY NORWOOD

The Norwood boys may just be one of the best dressed kids in Manila. Cash (Cassius), O (Orion), and Izzy’s (Idris) street style was obviously influenced by their parents, Lei and Gilas player Gabe Norwood. They’re always decked in the coolest sneakers, flannels, oversized hoodies, and jerseys. The NBA Stadium ain’t ready for these kids!

4. STORMI WEBSTER

“All jokes aside she’s the real drip lord?,” reads one of the comments on Kylie Jenner’s snap of 4-year-old Stormi. She’s barely a pre-teen and yet she already has the best wardrobe filled with Louis Vuitton mini bags, her sneaker rotation thanks to her dad Travis Scott’s collabs, and matching designer outfits with her mom. The fact that Stormi doesn’t realize how she’s become some sort of influence in the streetwear community gives her so much power and cred.

5. SCARLET SNOW BELO

Growing up right before our very eyes and fast, even the style of Scarlet Snow Belo has followed suit. From wearing gowns fit for a princess and big bows to now switching it up with her preppy, equestrian style, the daughter of beauty moguls Dr. Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho created a superstar unknowingly. Aside from her fun looks, Scarlet has also proven to be full of wisdom as seen on her Instagram account that’s followed by five million people. Phenomenal.

6. NORTH WEST

When you have your Vogue cover as an infant, sit front row at runways next to Anna Wintour and Queen Bey, and perform at your dad’s collection launch, you’re already primed to be a fashion icon. Aside from styling her siblings for their recent cover shoot, North also has the coolest TikTok and outfits, most of which are either hand-me-downs from her parents or a designer archive piece.

7. ZIA DANTES

When the whole world was introduced to Zia Dantes in 2015, she was instantly praised for her flawless features. The mestiza beauty, who is the eldest of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes has also been well-loved for her floral dresses and fondness for dressing up as her favorite characters like Princess Jasmine, The Joker, and even Darna, like her mom. Chic!

8. NATALIA GUERRERO

Natalia Guerrero may be a tiny dancer that looks like a baby doll, but her style’s pretty much a fusion of her Ate Niana and Kuya Ranz’s laidback, dance-ready aesthetic. We love how she switches from frilly dresses to deconstructed denim every time. Remember her sassy fuzzy coat at her Ate’s 16th birthday party? A sign of a future fashion girl.

9. DAVIAN ALEJANDRO LAUREL

What can we say, the kid has got style down pat. Also known as “Bukie,” Denise Laurel’s son has the funkiest style. We actually don’t know what we love more: his curls or his sense of humor! Bukie’s also good friends with the Norwood boys, which explains their amazing outfits. You can watch his channel here to see more of his adventures.

Fave Film Got Snubbed At The Oscars? You Can Now Vote For Your Pick On Twitter

*Tweeting that The Green Knight deserved better*.

If you’re feeling frustrated that your favorite movies never get the love they deserve at the Oscars, you can now use your voice and vote to change that.

Every year, movie lovers and cinephiles around the world wait with bated breath for the nominations of the Oscars. And every year, heated debates are waged as to movies and actors that were snubbed or which movies deserved and didn’t deserve their nominations. This much is true for this year’s Oscars. Among the many conversations started about this year’s nominations was which movies were nominated for Best Picture, and which weren’t.

Many fans in particular called out how Spider-Man: No Way Home was not nominated for Best Picture despite its glowing reviews, box office success, and campaign. Even Hollywood stars were divided on this year’s nomination and who were left out. Jane Campion, the director of Oscar nominated The Power Of The Dog, wanted Lady Gaga nominated for Best Actress. Josh Brolin, meanwhile, somewhat shaded the Academy on Instagram for the fact that they snubbed Denis Villeneuve for Best Director despite his work for Dune.

Whether or not No Way Home deserves a Best Picture nod or who else should have been nominated is a story for another day, but it’s clear that many fans were not happy. But it seems that the time of snubs is slowly coming to an end as for the first time in Oscar’s history, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will open up voting for an award to the general public.

FAN FAVORITE MOVIE

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) - IMDb

Beginning today until March 3, the Oscars are launching a new initiative where Twitter users share their vote for favorite movie, regardless of it was nominated for an Oscar or not. As long as the movie was released in 2021, it’s eligible. So, you’re free to vote for your favorite underrated indie flick or major blockbuster that you think deserved more love. When you tweet your vote, include #OscarsFanFavorite and #Sweepstake. You can also send in your vote via the Academy’s website. The movie that receives the most votes will be revealed during the 94th Academy Awards on March 27.

It should be noted that this is not a formal award and the winner won’t receive an Oscar trophy. But at least fans will finally have a say on what film they think deserves a nod and give justice to movies they felt were snubbed. And the best part about this is that the Academy will pick three lucky Twitter users, along with their guests, to be flown to Los Angeles, all expenses paid, and actually attend and present an Oscar award at the 2023 ceremony.

This actually isn’t the first time that the Oscars has flirted with the idea of awarding a fan favorite movie. They initially thought of creating a most popular film category during the 91st Academy Awards in 2019 so that more mainstream and blockbuster movies can get nominated for an Oscar, as well as boost ratings. But it was cancelled after facing pushback and criticism.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Twitter to help build an engaged and excited digital audience leading up to this year’s ceremony. Through these activations, social media users around the world now have more opportunities to engage with the show in real time, find a community and be a part of the experience in ways they’ve never been able to before,” said Meryl Johnson, VP of digital marketing at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, to The Hollywood Reporter.

But the fan voting doesn’t stop there. Twitter users can also share and vote for their favorite scene or moment from a 2021 film using #OscarsCheerMoment. The winning scenes will be shown during the 2022 Oscars telecast, alongside the fans tweets. And just like with fan favorite film, select users can also get a chance to win prizes. Five lucky users will receive a prize package that will make any cinephile’s jaw drop to the floor. They will win a full year of free movie tickets at the theater of their choice, subscriptions to streaming services, and exclusive items from the Academy Museum store.

Twitter users will be able to tweet out their submissions to both categories up to 20 times a day. So, if you want to show love to your fave movies and moments of 2021, get those tweets ready.

line
Things just got real.

Brought together by the internet and TikTok, Ayn Bernos, Rica Salomon, and Kai Javier are set to color the town pretty with their beauty brand, Kayu Beauty.

Contrary to what one might think, not all that springs forth from the internet is an intangible. With a lot of life lived online, especially over the course of the challenging and concerning two years, the virtual plane has become more than just an extension of reality rendered in bits and bytes, as well coded in 1s and 0s. More than just an escape into the void, this is where discoveries are made, economies sustained, and connections fostered, all of which directly affect life as we know it. And for a group of friends formed on social media, this is where their new chapter begins, one that is brimming with possibilities and potential.

“The internet brought us together and now we’re about to make real world things happen,” writes Kayu Beauty, the newest Filipino beauty brand raring and ready to color the local market with their point-of-view. From dominating our FYPs, the coming together of some of our favorite follows on TikTok, Ayn Bernos, Rica Salomon, and Kai Javier, is both a dream come true and a pursuit of passion and advocacy. The best part? It is inspired by you. Yes, you.

“We made something,” Kayu Beauty writes the brand on the first wave of their introduction. A cross-section of interests in the scope of beauty, one that comes from a professional artist, a connoisseur, and a consumer, Kayu Beauty is a makeup brand anchored on purpose above everything. This time, they see you first.

Say Hello To Kayu

While the local beauty market is considerably thriving, what with a growing list of Filipino-made and Filipino-owned brands, as well as of collaborations that really put a focus on the needs specific to us, there is still admittedly a lot of gaps to be filled. And Kayu Beauty not only intends to address that, but mostly importantly, offer solutions and products that are first and foremost made for the Filipino. “Now, why is it called Kayu Beauty? So, it actually started when Rica and I were brainstorming about the name. She wanted to put up a makeup brand, I wanted to continue with my advocacy, and we came up with Kayu, short for kayumanggi,” details Ayn Bernos in a TikTok video.

“However, I’ve been frustrated for a long time na afterthought kasi ‘yung morenas sa mga campaigns. It’s like we’re the background person,” she furthers, her lifelong purpose of championing the morenas really expanding skin positivity this conversation. “So, when we created the makeup brand, we wanted to make sure na you know, we have the space we always wanted.” The result is an inclusive brand that is committed to creating products inspired by you, which is already evident in their campaign images that are more than anything, thoughtful and diverse. From range of skin tones, tropical climates, as well as of daily habits, goals, and aspirations, all these are the main considerations for everything they do at Kayu Beauty.

“Now, that doesn’t mean it’s exclusive to morenas or anything like that,” the TikTok star, beauty queen, and entrepreneur clarifies. “It just means that, yay, we advocate for everyone, especially you guys, kayu. Kayu na rin.”

One Kiss Is All It Takes

Set to launch on February 19, Kayu Beauty finally revealed the first set of products to herald their foray into the beauty game. And it all starts with a kiss.

“Meet Kayu Kiss. The classic bullet lipstick, inspired by you,” the makeup brand shares on their social media pages. “Designed to own permanent real estate in your everyday bags, our flagship collection comes in six wearable shades. We have a soft moisturizing matte lipstick to suit every skin tone, every mood, and every whim.” Described as a light velvety formula that grazes the lips like a feather on every glide, the cheekily christened lip products (Send Nudes, Luv You A Latte, Papa Don’t Peach, Clay With Me, Left U On Red, Watcha Pink) are buildable, flattering, and designed for pure comfort.

Listen, this isn’t just mere lip service, because clearly, Ayn Bernos, Rica Salomon, and Kai Javier, together with Landamme Vivas and JR Rodriguez, have put it in the work to make this dream a reality for no one else but you. See, good things can come from the internet. And this time, it just got real.

7 Jeremy Glinoga Performances That Showcase His Rising Star Status

line
A star in the making.

He can sing, dance, and act. Jeremy Glinoga is out here showing that he’s one to watch out for and these performances prove that.

Throughout the storied history of Philippine talent competition shows, many artists and personalities have come and gone. But only a few have truly broken past their competition days to establish themselves as a force in the industry. And some are on the verge of doing just that. This is true for singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor Jeremy Glinoga.

Originally hailing from Los Angeles, California, the young artist first appeared on our screens when he auditioned for The Voice Teens Philippines in 2017. He impressed judges Sharon Cuneta and Sarah Geronimo enough to make them turn their chairs, where he ultimately joined Team Sharon. From then on, he charmed many viewers, making it all the way to the finals. And while he didn’t win, it did help him jumpstart his career, and by the looks of it, it truly is taking form as of late.

THE COME UP OF JEREMY GLINOGA

A regular performer on ASAP Natin ‘To, Jeremy is regarded as a rising star. He’s been active in the industry for a few years now, but the spotlight on him shines brighter. Recently, he dropped his debut EP, maybe forever, a body of work about the stages of love. “Once you listen to the songs together, you’ll realize we all go through the same emotions. All these songs are about hope and wondering whether what you did or happened was right. Love is a journey without a final destination,” he said of the EP.

The EP, which four of its tracks were written, composed, and co-produced by Jeremy himself, was met with praise for Jeremy’s soulful and emotional voice as well as songs that felt like a throwback to the early 2000s OPM ballads. And to top it all off, he is also set to make his acting debut this year with the musical series Lyric and Beat. In the show, he’ll star alongside other new-gen stars like Andrea Brillantes, Seth Fedelin, Darren Espanto, AC Bonifacio, Angela Ken, and Sheena Belarmino.

As this all-rounder continues to flourish, here are seven performances that you need to check out to understand the hype behind this young artist.

HIS COVER OF ISTORYA BY THE JUANS

Everything about this cover feels correct. From his voice, the arrangement, to the emotion, it was all on-point. Jeremy definitely gave justice to this song, but at the same time gave it his own take and spin.

DUET OF I’LL NEVER LOVE AGAIN WITH JANINE TENOSO

I’ll Never Love Again served as one of the emotional highlights of A Star Is Born, and Jeremy gave what needed to be given. Together with Janine Tenoso, the two bodied this cover with their voices that blended well together. Starting off slow, the two ramped up to give a satisfying emotional climax by the song’s peak.

PERFORMING DAHIL MAHAL NA MAHAL AT THE VOICE TEENS FINALE

When Jeremy joined Team Sharon on The Voice Teens Philippines, the mega star revealed that she wanted him on her team because he was a singer who delivered on emotions. He may not be known for being a belter, but Jeremy really digs deep to deliver the song, it’s feeling, and message. This performance during the finale of The Voice Teens is prime proof of that. Taking on this Roselle Nava classic, Jeremy embodied the song to give a performance that hit all in the right spots.

THIS MESMERIZING RENDITION OF SANA MAULIT MULI BY REGINE VELASQUEZ

Done during the battle rounds of his season, this duet was arguably one of the best in the show’s history. And what’s most impressive about it all is that it was sung by two singers who weren’t that good in Tagalog at the time. Heather and Jeremy both rose to the occasion in this performance, which is why both ended up moving on to the next round. Lea Salonga even expressed that her breath was taken away.

HIS DUET OF PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH MY HEART WITH ZEPHANIE

Jeremy Glinoga and Zephanie remain a superior duet couple. Both came from singing competition shows and both are regarded as some of the best singers of the new generation. So, when they combine forces for a performance, you know it’s going to be good. And while they had many great performances together, this duet of Please Be Careful With My Heart is truly next level. From the voices, emotion, and chemistry, they did that.

HIS TAKE ON TOO GOOD AT GOODBYES BY SAM SMITH

Covering Sam Smith can either lead to really great or questionable results. For Jeremy, this performance was definitely of the former than the latter. Scenic views of the city combined with Jeremy’s beautiful voice made for an A-tier cover.

DANCE NUMBER WITH AC BONIFACIO

Not only is Jeremy a talented singer-songwriter, but he can dance, too. If you catch him on ASAP or his TikTok account, you can see him bust a move every know and then. Take this dance prod with AC Bonifacio for example. Not only was he able to keep up AC, but gave us sharp and slick dance moves in the process. Definitely looking forward to what they have to offer in Lyric and Beat.

These Social Media Platforms Are Finally Taking A Stand Against Unrealistic Beauty Standards

line
Perfection is overrated.

Reclaiming your power is the move for 2022.

No matter how strong one is, there is something we don’t like about ourselves to a certain degree. While it is important to rally for unconditional self-love, it’s important to recognize that the feeling of self-loathing will always exist. Remember that scene in Euphoria where Kat was in her bedroom talking about how she’s unhappy with herself then one by one, different women bombarded her with toxic positivity? “You need to smash all beauty standards” and “That’s not you f*cking talking, that’s the patriarchy” were just some of the lines that the show got right, but sometimes, it does more harm than good unknowingly.

Body dysmorphia (often referred to as BDD) is a disorder where someone has a perception of their physical flaws as a “defect” and can cause emotional distress. According to the Anxiety & Depression Association of America, the causes of body dysmorphia may be unclear, but “certain biological and environmental factors may contribute to its development, including genetic predisposition, neurobiological factors such as malfunctioning of serotonin in the brain, personality traits, and life experiences (e.g. child maltreatment, sexual trauma, peer-abuse).” BDD isn’t necessarily caused by social media, but it can and has perpetuated unrealistic beauty standards.

PINTEREST BANNING WEIGHT LOSS ADS

We’re still a long way to go, but there’s been some light that was shed on these topics when social media platforms began implementing policies that prioritize the well-being of its users. Just last year, Pinterest announced that they were banning all weight loss ads on their home pages. “We encourage others in the industry to do the same and acknowledge, once and for all, that there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all,” a statement reads. We truly applaud Pinterest for taking a huge step, especially since most young people get their unrealistic “inspos” through their boards. Their stats also showed that users started searching terms like “body neutrality,” “self-love illustrations” and anti-body shaming quotes.

INSTAGRAM’S FILTER BAN

beauty standards social media

(Trigger warning: Mentions self-harm and suicide.) Back in 2019, news of 14-year-old Molly Russell’s death broke out due to finding graphic images of self-harm and suicide on Instagram. This led to people raging over the social media platform’s unhealthy effects and loose control over images on the app. Instagram has then started taking careful measures such as banning filters that depict cosmetic surgery to help their users have a more positive experience. This and the roll out of invisible number of “likes” have somehow helped. They’ve also restricted posts that promoted weight loss products and plastic surgery since then.

NORWAY’S PHOTO EDIT LAW

Passed with a 72–15 vote last year by the Norwegian Parliament, it is now illegal for people to post their photos on social media without declaring that they’re retouched. The government is aware of how social media has been distorting our unattainable standards of beauty, thus passing a law where the penalty is punishable and can lead to fines of imprisonment. It requires any post that may contain a body with modified size, shape, or skin to carry a declaration of alteration in hopes of lessening body pressure. But we could only wonder, would a disclaimer stating the post had been modified help in improving one’s self-esteem?

LACK OF BODY REPRESENTATION

In the end, we all have to accept that a self-distorted body image, dysmorphia, and other similar effects exacerbated by the relentless preference for near-perfection is real no matter how many self-help books you read. And despite social media now streamlining their policies to alleviate insecurity issues, it’s still you who can change what you see and reclaim the narrative. It’s not just platforms like Instagram, TikTok and Twitter that have a problem. Even if you lessen screen time, it’s still primarily the lack of representation of all bodies that adds insult to the injury.

The one-size-fits-all narrative isn’t entirely the solution. With so many loopholes in the media when it comes to body positivity, no wonder everyone’s so obsessed with the impossible. Luckily, you have brands like Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty that encourages everyone to be the “bad b*tch” versions of themselves no matter what shape or size, or singer Lizzo who doesn’t give a damn about all the body-shaming and bashing mostly from grown men. Maybe the rumors are true—while you’re spending all the time breaking a woman down, realer sh*t is going down. Just have a look around, you’ll see.
