That’s where NYLON Manila Picks comes in. Every month, our team rounds up the best beauty must-haves to help you look fresh, feel confident, and stay prepped for whatever the season throws your way. From SPF-packed essentials to glowy skin saviors and sweat-proof glam, these are the beauty buys you’ll want in your summer rotation.

BLK Cosmetics Face Stacks – Precy Tan, Creative Services Copywriter

The BLK Cosmetics Face Stacks are basically my summer makeup dream come true—blush, bronzer, and highlighter all in one easy, on-the-go stack. When I’m out and about, whether it’s a coffee run or a full-day beach trip, I love having everything I need in one swipe.

My go-to shades? High Beam (pearlescent champagne) for that fresh flush, Coffee Run (warm terracotta) for a sunkissed glow, and Runway (mauve rose) to top it all off with a dewy finish.

Happy Skin 360° Cooling Sunscreen Spray – Precy Tan, Creative Services Copywriter

The Happy Skin 360° Cooling Sunscreen Spray is legit a lifesaver—just spray and go, no mess, no fuss. Since I’m always out hiking or swimming, this has become an instant summer must-have for me. It’s light, refreshing, and actually makes reapplying SPF feel like a cool-down moment instead of a chore.

MAYBELLINE Firework Mascara 360 Full Lash Impact – Nica Glorioso, Features and Pop Culture Writer

I’ve been on a hunt for a mascara that fulfills my specific needs, and the new MAYBELLINE Firework Mascara 360 Full Lash Impact has become a quick fave. It’s more on the lengthening and defining kind of mascara than volumizing (the Lash Lift, which I also love, comes to mind in comparison), but it’s perfect for someone like me, who prefers simple, no-fuss looks. The brush is flexible and easy to use, and the mascara is easily removable with my fave Heroine Make mascara remover (which was important for me, because it just makes removal so easy).

Nature Republic California Aloe Fresh Powdery Sun Stick – Precy Tan, Creative Services Copywriter

Growing up with the classic Nature Republic Aloe Gel, I was super excited to try the California Aloe Fresh Powdery Sun Stick, and it did not disappoint. It’s lightweight, blendable, and sits so well under makeup—no weird pilling or greasy feel, just smooth SPF protection. As someone who never leaves the house without at least a little makeup, this has easily become a summer staple in my routine.

Serrine Perfume in Blouse – Gelo Quijencio, Multimedia Artist

This scent is very warm powdery, musky, fruity scent. I finished this bottle so fast and probably will repurchase another bottle. This scent is very reminiscent of a warm vacation which I will definitely use in warmer days.

Schick Shave Guard Sensitive Lime Foam – Raf Bautista, Deputy Editor

This is one of my go-to shaving creams for how easy, cool, and light it feels on the skin. It gives a smooth shave every time. And I also like how one can will last you a long while, minimizing the need to keep on buying new cans.

SOLA Foundation Primer SPF50+/PA+++ – Precy Tan, Creative Services Copywriter

Even before summer hit, the SOLA Foundation Primer SPF50+/PA+++ has been a staple in my routine because it delivers every time. As a naturally oily (and sweaty) girlie, I need something that keeps my skin looking fresh without sliding off by noon. This one holds up so well and doesn’t transfer as much as other lightweight bases I’ve tried—definitely a go-to for hot, humid days.

Strokes Beauty Lab Makeup Brush Cleaner & Sanitizer – Bianca Lao, Senior Brand Associate

I recently ran out of the Strokes Beauty Makeup Brush Cleaner and Sanitizer after seeing the product since its release earlier this year, and I fear, it will be a recurring product in my makeup kit, as someone who frequently needs for her brushes to be cleaned – this product is a life-saver in so many ways. It saves you time, effort, and cleans your brushes perfectly. For all those girlies that are as particular as me, especially with their makeup brushes, ADD TO CART NOW.

Sunnies Face Glidegloss in Gumamela – Bianca Lao, Senior Brand Associate

We love a plumping product that’s local, affordable, and accessible! My cousin recently gifted and recommended the Sunnies Face Glidegloss and surprised me with the shade Gumamela. Ever since receiving the product, I’ve noticed myself reaching for it more and more throughout the day. It’s lightweight, the plump isn’t *too* intense, and it’s compact enough for you to take it anywhere. A plus? It’s not messy, provided you know how to properly use it 😉

It serves as a great dupe for some plumping gloss balms out there, so grab it and enjoy, besties!

Beyond the Vines’ Colourblock Heart Pouch in Turquoise – Gelo Quijencio, Multimedia Artist

Summer is fast approaching and I couldn’t emphasize more how convenient pouches with clips/carabiners are. You can easily clip onto your bag, ID laces, or pants and you’re ready to go. You can keep your precious trinkets or your essentials in this cute heart pouch. Plus points: the color block and its shape truly is screaming summer!

Casio X Barbie GMA-S110BE – Raf Bautista, Deputy Editor

They say a watch is meant to compliment a look, but this watch from Casio and Barbie is for the baddies and baddies only. The monochromatic pink color scheme makes it stand out in all the right ways (especially for summer) and makes for an accessory that’s extra in the best way possible.

Desigual Retro Split Leather Sneakers – Nica Glorioso, Features and Pop Culture Writer

Me when I have the most basic outfit on, but it’s fine because these shoes are the ‘fit. The Desigual Retro Split Sneakers in bright orange and pink, and it is so cute and eye-catching. It’s a mix of leather and suede in colors that are so bright they almost hurt to look at, and it’s got a comfy, plush inside. My new fave summer shoes, FR.

MARGESHERWOOD Bags – James Jacinto, Marketing Multimedia Artist

MARGESHERWOOD has been nailing the ‘modern classic’ aesthetic across its collections, but it’s their bags that have me hooked—especially the Outpocket Hobo. There’s something about its sleek form and effortless functionality that just works. It’s structured yet relaxed, minimal yet never boring—the kind of bag that fits seamlessly into any wardrobe.

ORPHIC Orchid Claw Clip – Bianca Lao, Senior Brand Associate

On a spontaneous shopping date with a friend, we came across the ORPHIC Orchid Hair Clips in Frankie and Friends at Rockwell, and fell in love with the designs of each claw clip, paying close attention to the different color ways and details that each clip presented. We ended up convincing each other to purchase the clip as a memory of the day, and I’ve found it to be a great purchase ever since – it provides a great colorful pop to any black and white outfit, and breathes personality into your look. Since you can get these on-hand and any Retail Lab or Frankie and Friends, it’s a versatile piece you can’t miss!

UNIQLO Seamless Half Bra Camisole – Precy Tan, Creative Services Copywriter

The UNIQLO Seamless Half Bra Camisole is perfect for summer—lightweight enough to wear as a top but supportive enough for workouts. As someone who hates feeling squeezed into tight bras, this one gives the right amount of support without that suffocating feeling. It’s breathable, comfy, and effortlessly fits into both my active and everyday wardrobe.

The way to our hearts is through our stomachs, if it hasn’t been made clear. We’re always discovering and rediscovering new food faves, dining hotspots, and more! No matter the season, the cuisine, the type of food or drink, we’ve got faves for everything—and we love them enough to say “Trust us, you’ll love this.” For this March, these sweet treats, filling meals, and fun drinks (a staple for anyone studying, working, or chilling) will be your best friend in all kinds of weather. Make our picks your new faves—check them out below!

Bolero’s Spanish Cheesecake  – Raf Bautista, Deputy Editor

The hype is real. I got to try the internet-famous cheesecake during my brother’s birthday, and I understand why people have been raving about it. The cheesecake filling is gooey, silky, and delicious while the crust adds a nice crunch to every bite. I honestly wouldn’t mind coming back to Bolero just for a slice of their famous cheesecake.

Uma Nota’s Brunch, Champagne & Bossa Nova Every Sunday  – Nicole Thomas, Contributing Writer

When you think brunch, it usually means relatively simple meals like sandwiches. But Uma Nota takes it up several notches with their Sunday brunch. The five-course menu is enough to fill you up the whole day while the choice of either free-flowing cocktails or free-flowing champagne makes for a great pairing. Add the live four-set Bossa Nova performance, you got yourself a worthy splurge on Sundays.

Chatime’s Taro Milk Tea – Bianca Lao, Sr. Brand Associate

A blast from the past snack for me, I remember the Chatime Taro Milk Tea being my introduction to milk tea and boba in general and I was forever changed into a boba lover because of it. I also got into it recently as my favorite K-Pop boy (aka Joshua of SEVENTEEN) recommended Taro Milk Tea with Pearls for a sweet treat. Treat yourself!

Joe Kind Snoopy Chocolate and Caramel Oatmilk Frappuccino – Precy Tan, Copywriter

The Joe Kind Snoopy Chocolate and Caramel Oatmilk Frappuccino is a total treat—because who wouldn’t want a Snoopy-shaped chocolate on their drink? The combo of chocolate, caramel, and oat milk is smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet. It’s almost too cute to sip… but trust me, it’s worth it!

Odd Cafe’s Peach Mango Tea – Gelo Quijencio, Multimedia Artist

A very refreshing drink for the scorching heat this summer. There’s a blend of sweet and sour flavors from the peach and mango which I truly love. This is a perfect on-the-go drink as someone who seldom drinks caffeine.

Honeydew Melon Bingsu – Nica Glorioso, Features & Pop Culture Writer

I tried out the new BonChon bingsu in Honeydew on a hot March day, and I instantly loved it. It kind of reminds me of halo-halo with its chewy bits of strawberry mochi and aloe jelly, with the classic creamy, snowy taste of bingsu. Such a great summer treat.

Krispy Kreme Glazed Donut – James Jacinto, Marketing Multimedia Artist

IMO, Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed Donut is the kind of treat that never gets old. Light, fluffy, and coated in just the right amount of glaze, it’s personally my consistent go-to for a quick sugar fix. Whether it’s a random craving or a comfort snack, it always hits the spot—especially with an iced coffee on the side.

Who isn’t a sucker for cute or fun little things? Whether we see anik-anik hanging off our bags or take a few minutes of break to play our favorite mobile game, our tech and trinket faves of the month have made our days just a teensy bit brighter. We’ve got collectibles, games, mugs, useful little tech gadgets, and more—all of them matching our personalities and lifestyle. If you’re looking to get budol-ed, look no further. Check out the newest batch of our lifestyle faves below!

The Corazon Marikit Monster High Doll – Raf Bautista, Deputy Editor

Mattel did their big one with this. Not only is it cool how Monster High pulled inspiration directly from Filipino folklore for the doll, but you can tell that there was effort that went into its design. From the little details of Corazon’s outfit to the packaging itself, it’s giving slayable manananggal, literally and figuratively.

Stumble Guys & Blanc Nue Adjustable Phone Strap – Bianca Lao, Sr. Brand Associate

One of my all-time favorite pandemic games is back, and I couldn’t be more excited! After hearing that the game had been revamped and finally runs smoothly without crashing every time you open it, my friends and I decided to give it another go. Fast forward to now, and I’m totally hooked again. The maps are still so much fun, and I love that you can play with your friends in real-time. Plus, the adorable characters you can unlock? Run. If you’re looking for the perfect game to bond with your barkada, download it now—trust me, you won’t regret it, bestie!

As an on-the-go (and rather clumsy) girlie, I was on the lookout for a cute phone accessory that would keep my phone secure and stuck to me while being something stylish enough to match with my outfits. Enter, the Blanc Nue Adjustable Phone strap, I came across the brand during a recent music festival, and purchasing from them turned out to be one of my favorite decisions of the night. Stylish and kept my phone close to me at an event with a lot of people. I got mine in pink and matched with a friend who chose a blue strap. If you’re reading this, take this as your sign to budol your bestie and get matching phone straps!

Starbucks x Peanuts Friendship Ceramic Mug – Precy Tan, Copywriter

The Starbucks x Peanuts Friendship Ceramic Mug is straight-up serotonin in a cup! It’s the perfect mix of nostalgia and cuteness, and the bright yellow makes my coffee hits even happier. Basically, my childhood faves + my fave color = an instant fave.

CASETiFY Sakura Collection – Gelo Quijencio, Multimedia Artist

As someone who loves pink and adores seeing flowers, the CASETiFY Sakura collection is a perfect case for me. What I love about this collection is the flower phone charm, pink ripple case, and the pressed sakura case. The range of designs, functionality per device, and customization allows for personalization, making a complete case and tech rotation—talk about aesthetics with functionality. If you love cherry blossoms, this collection lets you carry that beauty with you no matter the season.

Canon SureShot AF-7 Film Camera – Nica Glorioso, Features Writer

I recently upgraded from a plastic film camera to a vintage one I found from Facebook, the Canon SureShot AF-7, and when I got my first roll from it developed, I shot up straight out of my seat. The colors were exquisite, and the quality was fantastic without losing the grainy look of film. The SureShot lets in plenty more light than my previous one, has a huge viewfinder, a powerful flash, and an automatic film advance and rewinder. Totally worth getting a vintage film cam if you’re into film!

HIRONO Figures – James Jacinto, Marketing Multimedia Artist

I was late to the collectible toys trend, but something about Hironos changed that. Their characters don’t have the usual smiley faces—instead, they carry a certain mystery and “personality” that stand out. Watching the Hirono Little Mischief Series made me appreciate them even more, especially getting to know each figurine’s backstory. Personally, Birdman and The Aviator are my top favorites so far.

NYLON Manila Picks: The Media That Took Over Our Faves List This March 2025

line
From the watchlist to the playlist.

From the hottest new K-dramas to the latest albums of the pop girls, these are our faves of March.

Related: NYLON Manila Picks: The Media And Entertainment We Raved Over In February 2025

With the arrival of March comes hotter days, the official start to the 2025 summer season, Women’s Month, and more. But blue skies and a glaring sun aren’t the only things that had our attention this March. From new movies to new albums and more, we had our fill of fun entertainment this month that we’ll highkey be remembering long after the month is over. Check out our picks for March below, some of which we’re probably your faves, too.

ZOMBIEBOY BY LADY GAGA – RAFAEL BAUTISTA, DEPUTY EDITOR

Mayhem was not the album I initially expected from Lady Gaga. But over time, I’ve learned to love it for what it is, and Zombieboy has been on repeat ever since the album came out. I’m a sucker for disco productions so this song is right up my alley as a true earworm in my opinion. Gaga snapped here, and not only is Zombieboy my favorite track on the LP (aside from Abracadabra), but it’s also one of my top songs of the year so far.

MICKEY 17 – RAFAEL BAUTISTA, DEPUTY EDITOR

What I love most about Mickey 17 is how Robert Pattinson looks to be having so much fun as a titular Mikey. He looked like he enjoyed his time making the movie and it made the film that much better. And for fans of Bong Joon-Ho’s English films, Mickey 17 isn’t far from what you’d expect from the acclaimed director; a dystopian black sci-fi comedy with a not-so-subtle take on today’s political climate.

WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU TANGERINES – BIANCA LAO, SENIOR BRAND ASSOCIATE

It took an IU and Park Bogum drama to take me out of my K-Drama hiatus, but the story and plot of When Life Gives You Tangerines to make me stay throughout the series. Grab your tissues, besties – this series is a wild ride and is not for the weak-hearted (I have not stopped crying since watching it last weekend). While I don’t want to spoil anything, the series will poke at your heart strings, provide you a sense of belonging and comfort, and will teach you great things. If you have the time to indulge in a new series, take a chance on this series and I promise you, you will not regret it!

MULTO BY CUP OF JOE – NICA GLORIOSO, FEATURE AND POP CULTURE WRITER

Hindi na makalaya indeed. 😅 With the music video coming out, I was alerted to this banger of a track from Cup Of Joe, and within a week or two, it made it to my most-played tracks of the month. Multo is relapse-worthy, but it’s just too good for me to not queue it five times in a row.

RUBY ALBUM BY JENNIE – GELO QUIJENCIO, MULTIMEDIA ARTIST

I’ve been playing Ruby non-stop since its release. I love how the album captures JENNIE’s artistry from rap to vocals! Plus, the artists Jennie collabs within this album are top-tier. Bonus: with the IE (way up) and Seoul City are my top tracks!

BOYNEXTDOOR TOUR ‘KNOCK ON VOL.1’ IN MANILA – GELO QUIJENCIO, MULTIMEDIA ARTIST

This concert is truly memorable and heartfelt for someone who’s been a OneDoor since debut. Their stage performance, aura, songs, even their VCR, and LIVE VOCALS are truly through the roof. I loved it when they did a full-on Filipino skit before their song Nice Guy. Truly, the boys serenaded Filo OneDoor with their concert here in Manila.

BURIED HEARS – NIKKI BALBOA, HEAD OF OPERATIONS

As a K-girlie, I’m soooo obsessed with Buried Hearts on Disney+. Riveting! The theme revolves around revenge, family ties, and honor. I like the mind games, the struggle for power, and how it’s not a sad story (so far). Somewhat related to what’s happening here in the Philippines. Men in polished suits are also wonderful!

Oh, you thought Women’s Month celebrations were over? Not for NYLON Manila! Sometimes, all we need to get through the tough days (and it’s tough being a girl in this world, but you’re tougher) is to know that we’re not alone—that we’ve got people rooting for us, believing in us, standing with us. Sometimes, we just need a message of encouragement to help us keep going, something we’ll remember and keep close to heart. Well, we got you—but they’re not just from us.

We’ve collected 28 lovely messages from your favorite artists, girl groups, singers, actors, creators, creatives, organizations, and leaders—all icons in their respective fields, all empowered women dedicated to empowering others. From heartfelt odes of gratitude to empowering messages of hope, these women have something wonderful, uplifting, and inspiring to say to the women and girls of Generation Now. Take these to heart, even after Women’s Month is over! We’re all in this together, and we’re all stronger for it. Hear it straight from them right here.

BINI

“To all the women of all generations, we want you to know that you are loved, you are worth it, you are important, and you are beautiful! Kung may gusto kang gawin, do it, dahil kaya mo. Just be brave and know that BINI will always be here for you. You know we got your back, we know you got our back.”
BINI, P-pop Group

LYNN PINUGU

“To the young women reading this,
There will be moments in life when you’ll discover that the world tends to treat women unfairly.
You’ll notice that how you look or how you act, what you decide to do or not to do, will often be placed under scrutiny.
There might be times when people will project their dreams and expectations onto you, and try to shape you into someone who fits their ideals rather than honor who you truly are.
There will be moments when you’ll feel that your voice is ignored, your ideas dismissed, or your worth diminished.
But trust me when I say this: You are strong, resilient, and brimming with potential. You have what it takes to rise above these things, to define your own path, and to carve out a space where your voice will not only be heard but valued and respected.
And someday, you’ll be in a position where you can help change these things—not just for yourself, but also for those who come after you.

With love, Lynn

P.S. “No.” is the most powerful sentence you will ever learn. Do not be afraid to use it as often as you need to.”
Lynn Pinugu, Co-founder and CEO of She Talks Asia

MARJ MAROKET

“I took a leap of faith to pursue my passion for beauty, and it was the best decision I ever made! Never be afraid to take up space. Go after what you want while staying true to who you are.”
Marj Maroket, Beauty Content Creator

KYLIE VERSOZA

“To the young women and girls of Generation Now: You have everything you need inside of you. Always believe in yourself and don’t forget to put in the hard work. You are enough. You are strong, capable, and worthy of every dream you have—no matter how big or impossible it may seem. Trust in your unique journey, embrace your voice, and never apologize for taking up space. You are the future, and the future is bright because of you.

With love,
Kylie Verzosa”
Kylie Versoza, Beauty Queen, Model, & Entrepreneur

ABI MARQUEZ

“I’ve walked into rooms where I was the only woman, the youngest, or the least experienced. And I won’t lie—there were times I felt like I had to act a certain way just to be taken seriously. But the right people will respect you for what you bring to the table, not for how well you fit their expectations. Keep showing up, keep creating, and take up space—because you deserve to be here.”
Abi Marquez, ‘Lumpia Queen’ & Content Creator

KRISSHA VIAJE

“To every woman reading this right now, I’d like you to know that you are enough exactly as you are. The world will try to convince you that you need to be more of this or less of that but the truth is, your imperfections are what make you real. Real is beautiful! Give yourself the same kindness you so freely give to others. Love yourself through the good days and the messy ones because every version of you is worthy of love. Keep learning, keep growing, and most of all, keep being you. Happy Women’s Month!”
Krissha Viaje, Actress & Performer

SHAI YMBONG

“Navigating society as a woman is tough in itself—the constant pressure to conform and mold yourself to what everybody wants might seem like the easiest path, but it’s actually the hardest. Not being yourself and always feeling like you’re living in someone else’s skin is exhausting. This struggle doesn’t end in your teens, nor does it disappear in your late 20s—trust me. But with age comes grace. The grace to let yourself grow out of the things and people that no longer resonate. The grace to realize that putting yourself first and pursuing something you truly want is not selfish.
Whether that’s starting another 9-5 job, applying to a completely different field that feels unfamiliar, training for a marathon, leaving that long-term relationship that kept you stagnant, or simply learning a new recipe—it’s not selfish at all to make time for yourself.

All my life, I thought I would always pursue journalism because of how much I used to love writing. But when life happens and you walk your own path, your expectations won’t always align with reality—and sometimes, it turns out to be even better than you imagined. Instead of writing all my thoughts, I’ve found a way to give others the space to tell their own stories visually. Becoming a multimedia editor has given me so much openness and freedom to have a voice for myself.

This Women’s Month, I hope you realize, woman, how capable you are of doing absolutely everything the world has to offer. No one starts something knowing everything. It’s okay to figure it out in the middle—or even at the end.”
Shai Ymbong, Freelance Creative & Content Creator

ANGELA KEN

“To all my wonderful girls, in every aspect of life, be as strong and ambitious as you desire. We live in a world where some may say everything has its limits. But I say, BE LIMITLESS. If you want to be a superstar, you can achieve that. If you want to make your mom proud, you will do it. Don’t let the world define you or stop you from being limitless. Ang buhay ng isang babae ay hindi madali, kaya kung babae ka, ipakita mo sakanila kung gaano ka ka-lupet, ka-husay, pero mostly, ipakita mo na ang puso ng isang babae ay higit pa sa ginto. YOU ARE A PRICELESS GEM AND BEAUTY; ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT. SOBRANG LATINA KA, NE!”
Angela Ken, Actress & Singer

BABY DIWATA

“It will get easier. There is time to heal and grow. Allow yourself to create and make mistakes and build relationships with different people. You will find your place in this world through the ups and downs of growing older. Trust yourself.
If there was one thing I could tell my younger self it would be that growing older is so much fun and you will meet your truest self there. Confidence comes with age, and you will find people who will unlock your vision and path in life. So surround yourself with good people and trust the waves of life. “
Baby Diwata, DJ, Model, & Creative

G22

“Thank you so much for holding on sa sarili mo, and don’t forget na you are perfect. There’s no need to be or copy someone else. Feel confident in your own skin, kung ano yung talagang ikakasaya mo, ‘dun ka pumunta. Don’t forget to love everything about yourself.”
Alfea of G22, P-pop Group
“To all the young women reading this—you are the future. Generations and generations of women have fought for you to have this voice and freedom that you have now, so use it. Dream big, and persevere in those dreams, because women before you have fought for you to do that. Hold it close to your heart, and go for it.”
Jaz of G22, P-pop Group
“Hello girlypops! I just want to say that you have a voice, and you have an army of women standing behind you, and isa ang G22 doon. I hope that you hold onto that. Don’t dim your light, and be a slayer. Keep on slaying!”
AJ of G22, P-pop Group

INKA MAGNAYE

“You don’t need to be nice to be respectful or kind. I’ll say that again so you remember: you don’t need to be nice to be respectful or kind. Throughout our existence as women, our patience and boundaries will be tested. But I want you to understand that 1.) you don’t need to bend over backwards to accommodate those who have no consideration for you, and 2.) don’t believe people when they say meekness and kindness are one and the same. Respectfully establish your boundaries, defend them firmly if you must.”
Inka Magnaye, Voiceover Artist & Content Creator

YANA KALAW

“Women are women, whether we are born to it or not. We should be uplifting each other and supporting each of our dreams together. 💗 It’s such idealistic thinking but as you grow older, you realize, it’s really just better going after your dreams knowing that we’re all rooting for one another.”
Yana Kalaw, Fashion Designer

LARRA LASAM

IG/frntsc

“You’re more than self, familial, and societal imposed limitations and identities. Regardless of your successes and despite your setbacks, you are worthy, valued, loved, and beautiful.”
Larra Francesca Lasam, Content Creator

LUNAS COLLECTIVE

Lunas Collective, Advocacy and Survivor-Centered Care Organization

REYNA VALMORES SALINAS

“To my fellow girls of Generation Now, who live in a time of rising rates of violence against women, sinking salaries for women workers, landlessness among peasant women, rising prices for our families, and erasure of trans women—it’s time we make our voices heard! This 2025, let us practice our right to vote and to speak out for better leadership! Generation Now, say NO to misogynistic leaders, NO to traditional politics! This time, we say YES to women empowerment and inclusion, YES to wage increase and price control, YES to sovereignty, respect and equality for all! 💕”
Reyna Valmores Salinas, Bahagari Chairperson

ANDREA FERMA

“Girl power—a phrase that decorated my childhood, printed on shirts, notebooks, and stickers, as if to remind me daily of the strength I had yet to fully understand. It was more than just words. It was a promise. A fire waiting to be ignited.
And now, as an adult, I see it not just as a statement but as a movement—one that lifts, empowers, and redefines what it means to be a girl in this world.

Grit in the face of challenges.
Inspiration drawn from those who came before us.
Resilience to rise after every fall.
Leadership that paves new paths.
Passion that fuels our dreams.
Ownership of our voices, our choices, our futures.
Wisdom to know our worth.

Revolution—because we are the change.

We are the daughters of the women who refused to be silenced. We are the sisters of those still fighting. And we are the women who will leave this world stronger than we found it.

GELA ATAYDE

“You are more powerful than your doubts, more capable than your fears, and more deserving than you sometimes believe. Confidence isn’t about never doubting—it’s about trusting yourself enough to move forward anyway. Own your space, chase what sets your soul on fire, and never shrink for anyone. Walk into every room like you belong there, because you do.”
Gela Atayde, Dancer & Actress

MAUREEN WROBLEWITZ

“It’s time that we connect with our femininity. Let’s embrace who we truly are and prioritize self-love and self-care by doing things that we enjoy and by being more caring, loving and patient with ourselves. Let’s listen more to our bodies by eating nutritious foods, by movement and taking a break when we need it. Let’s choose peace and gratitude. We are so much more powerful than we think! Let’s uplift each other instead of tearing each other down. 💕”
Maureen Wroblewitz, Model & Beauty Queen

IYA TRINIDAD

“Even if we are able to enjoy a little bit of freedom that women were not able to centuries ago, this society still reminds us that we have a long way to go for genuine liberation. We must continue fighting, stepping up, and showing up in the most difficult times. I sincerely believe that the new Filipina is militant—brave, full of hope, and determined. Our collective aspirations and struggle for a free society is not impossible when we work collectively. Abante, babae!”
Iya Trinidad, Activist & President of the National Union of Students of the Philippines

JAN CHARLOTTE VENZON

“Being a woman in this business hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had my ups and downs, faced challenges, and walked into rooms where I wasn’t always taken seriously. But if there’s one thing I’ve always clung to, it’s this: gender biases don’t matter. What matters is how you show up, how you own your space, and how you refuse to let anyone define your worth.

Your skills, your ideas, your work ethic—that’s what sets you apart. Not your gender. So don’t wait for permission, don’t shrink yourself, and don’t let outdated mindsets dictate how far you go. Success is yours to take, and the only limits are the ones you refuse to break.

And remember—empowered women empower both women and men. Always choose kindness.”
Jan Charlotte Venzon, Founder & Owner of Charlotte Folk

ROCIO ESCAÑO

“A love letter to 18 year-old Rosie (who kinda sorta had a life plan, but had no idea just how magically unpredictable life would turn out to be),

Repetition rewires reality. Read that again. And again. And again. (No, seriously. Let it sink in.)
Because one day, you’ll understand that the things that feel impossible today will one day feel effortless. The things you fumble through, overthink, second-guess? Keep doing them. Keep showing up. Because the more you do, the easier it gets. And before you know it, your reality has shifted.
And what did you do differently? Nothing. You did the same thing over and over again, until it wasn’t hard anymore.
Life is a series of patterns. I see that now. The signs, the cycles, the ways the universe nudges us back to the same lessons until we finally learn them. Until we finally get them right. The more we return to something, the more we refine it. The more we revisit, the more we rebuild. Reinvent. Reimagine. Reclaim. Look at life as one big RE-do button—fitting, since ‘RE’ are our initials (I swear it can’t just be happenstance).
There’s a reason all these words start with ‘RE.’ They always mean coming back to something—a second, third, fourth time—seeing it again, trying again, making it better. Until it is better. Until you are better.
And one day, without even realizing it, you’ll look around and see that you are living the life you once thought was impossible.
Again. And again. And again.

All my love, (a lot a lot of) patience and hardwork,
A Future Rosie Who Knows You’ll Get There”

The Round-Up: The Last Week Of March Came Through With The Bops

line
🎧

Ariana Grande, KAIA, and TEN are among the artists who served at the end of March.

Related: The Round-Up: Our Favorite New Music Drops Of The Week

It’s safe to say that March was yet another good month for new music, and with the fresh releases we got in the last week of the month, the playlists continue to be filled with new jams. Check out some of our favorite new drops from the final week of March.

TWILIGHT ZONE – ARIANA GRANDE

With six new songs included in eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead, Ariana treated us to a trip through her different eras and reminded us that Ari will always be that pop girl

MS. PAKIPOT – ADIE

It’s an Adie track, of course the emotions are going to give.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR – D4VD

A high-energy, anthemic, and relatable pop declaration brimming with urgency and emotional intensity, the track captures the feeling of being unseen by a crush.

AYOS LANG – JANINE BERDIN

Janine’s latest bop is the energy we need to take in our dating life. If it isn’t meant to be, then okay, life moves on.

SUNSHINE & RAIN… – KALI UCHIS

With her smooth and sensual vocals, Kali puts into focus the need to find that special someone who will be there for you through all the seasons.

NEED YOU AROUND – GRENTPEREZ

The real ones who’ve been there since his YouTube cover days know how big of a deal this is with the release of his debut album, Backflips in a Restaurant. The LP embodies a sonic playground, from tracks his day-one fans will resonate with to their core, to offering a newly explored range from the vocalist.

STUNNER – TEN

Of course TEN’s first win as a solo artist would come from one of his best solo songs yet.

GBAD – JACKSON WANG

With a tongue-in-cheek edge, Jackson embraces the reality that setting boundaries may make you the villain in someone else’s story. The song sheds Jackson’s people-pleasing tendencies, offering a sharp reflection on the uncomfortable price of personal growth. An unapologetic, alt-R&B cut, the track pairs Jackson’s unmistakable vocals with laid-back, jazzy production.

KARMEN – ZAE

The Femme Fatale energy in this track is insane. Zae is out for blood on that cheating ex, and as she should.

DEATH WISH – LYN LAPID

It kinda needs to be talked about how Lyn Lapid has some impressive productions in her songs. Diva knows how to make a bop.

KILALA – ACE BANZUELO

A dreamy, melancholic pop track, the song revels in romantic longing: those heart-fluttering moments that often escape definition. Set against a backdrop of minimal guitars, gentle synths, and electronic flourishes, the track delivers a vocal performance that is bright and hopeful, yet punctuated with an emotionally incisive tone.

IT WAS A MOMENT – SOS

SOS’s second studio album, It Was A Moment, presents a lighter and less fussy side of the group in many ways, removing the proverbial chip on the shoulder. Technically, it’s as exacting as one can expect from the group—more sonically expansive and experimental, primarily thanks to the beautifully added sheen of synths and keys to classic SOS anthemic guitars—but thematically, It Was A Moment sees members Seña, Andrew, Anjo, King, and Ram become more deliberate spectators of others as much as themselves while keeping the interior feel and unfading anxieties of their first album, Whatever That Was.

K – ELIZA MATURAN

Yeah, Eliza continues to hit with the emotional bangers.

YIPPEE-KI-YAY – KESHA AND T-PAIN

Okay cuntry music.

TANGA – KAIA

Teaming up with Gen Z hitmaker Zack Tabudlo, who produced and composed the track, KAIA delivers another banger that blends pop confection with a lightness and ‘90s R&B flair. The song centers on a love that borders on naiveté, a relatable feeling that some people go through at some point in their life. Balancing a humorous, light vibe with a sense of introspection, the song tells the all-too-familiar story of choosing to ignore the red flags in a relationship just to hold on a little longer.

ROUGH LANDING – PIXIE LABRADOR

Oof, right in the feels with this track about realizing that you’re not the one.

PANSAMANTALA – PRESS HIT PLAY

The vocals??? They were really feeling this one.

PHYSICAL REMIX – DUA LIPA AND TROYE SIVAN

It took us five years, but we finally got the remix, and Dua and Troye sound good together on the chorus. Now if only we get an original song from these two divas.

STAR BELOW – EVAN AND PH-1

EVAN, formerly known as PLUMA, teams up with pH-1 for a song that captures the exhilarating moment of locking eyes with someone in the audience during a live performance. The track’s immersive soundscape, infused with raw emotion and wonder, takes listeners on an unforgettable journey. The vocoder-infused chorus and electronic drop heighten the sense of euphoria, leaving a cinematic impression that lingers long after the song ends.

They sustainably cooked with that one.

There are many ways to champion sustainability in fashion BTW.

When it comes to local organizations that deserve their flowers for fighting the good fight in the country, the Youth Advocates For Climate Action Philippines (YACAP) is on that list in how it has dedicated its mission to fighting climate change and promoting climate justice in the Philippines. The nationwide alliance of Filipino youth organizations, student councils, and individuals champion the local environment and understanding its interconnectedness with many aspects of Philippine society wherever they can, and as they should, given how disastrous climate change is for countries like the Philippines.

But it isn’t just through educational talks, protests, online campaigns, and on-ground activities like fashion shows that YACAP makes its voice and advocacies heard front and center. With membership mainly composed of Gen Z students and individuals, the group also knows how to add a little fun to what its fighting for, and that’s exactly happened on the newest episode of Dare-Z.

FOR THE CLIMATE, BUT MAKE IT GEN Z

yacap

ICYMI, March 2025 is our Style & Sustainability Issue which features four members of YACAP on the cover and was shot on location at Season Pass. With a generation that is increasingly seeing the value in secondhand, ukay-ukay, thrift, and vintage fashion as both a personal style statement and their way to not participate in the destructive nature of fast fashion, we felt YACAP made for a worthy cover star who stands on business and understand that Gen Z isn’t playing about their future.

It’s an energy they brought to Dare-Z as YACAP members and Gen Z environmental and climate advocates Mela Llamado, Fiona Fuentes, JC Cabangon, and Alab Mirasol Ayroso faced the wall of balloons to answer poignant questions and do a few fun dares. Advocating for climate justice isn’t limited to mobilization efforts, after all. From the importance of joining youth orgs, why rewearing the same clothes is not a bad thing, and other fun challenges, our four March 2025 cover stars took it on like the pros that they are. As the first youth organization to be on the cover of NYLON Manila and be on Dare-Z, it’s highkey a moment.

See how YACAP does by watching the full episode below. Don’t forget to check out NYLON Manila’s YouTube channel to watch the other Dare-Z episodes and other fun content.

Issues of climate are issues of people, and this organization in the spotlight knows this well. The Youth Advocates For Climate Action Philippines (YACAP) is an alliance of organizations, collectives, student councils and young individuals that advocates for immediate global climate action. Youth-founded and youth-led, the organization is one of many around the world that proves that this generation is at the forefront of the struggle for climate action—and all the world needs to do is listen and address the issues that have them fearing for their future.

As our March 2025 cover stars, YACAP represents a generation that’s had enough of the way people and planet have been suffering. From standing in solidarity with marginalized communities to participating in discussions at global climate conferences, advocating for sustainability in style to calling for accountability from people in power, YACAP walks the talk and urges Filipino youth to protect the environment and the people that depend upon it. The kids really are alright.

Get to know YACAP through our interview below with the organization’s current National Coordinator and full-time climate activist Rachelle Junsay!

STANDING STRONG FOR PEOPLE AND PLANET, WITH YACAP

yacap

Tell us about Youth Advocates For Climate Action Philippines!

YACAP started in 2019 after recognizing the need for a broad youth-based alliance that would fight for climate justice amidst worsening conditions, especially in vulnerable countries like the Philippines. We believe that the youth should be at the forefront of this struggle, joining forces with the most impacted sectors, as we will inherit this Earth in the future.

We conduct monthly onboardings to recruit and expand membership for individuals, organizations, and student councils while simultaneously offering educational discussions about the climate, inside and outside of the organization. To properly engage with the masses and other sectors, we also frequently join mobilizations to exchange stories and strengthen intersectional calls for our advocacies.

What are YACAP’s main advocacies and how are these advocacies upheld and realized?

There are 5 points of unity for all members and member organizations of YACAP: Climate Justice, Urgent Climate Action, Youth-led Collective Action, Defend our Environmental Defenders, and System Change.

These points encapsulate the hows and whys of our advocacy for climate justice—recognizing the problem, collectivizing the fight with our fellow youth and environmental defenders, and wanting genuine change to save our society. These are realized and upheld through our regular activities like EDs, speaking engagements, and on-ground and online campaigns. We also have major events like the annual Fashion Against Fascism and Fossil Fuels (FAFFF) and basic mass-integrations in partner communities.

What are your biggest or most highlighted projects and initiatives throughout the year?

Our most highlighted project is our yearly flagship event Fashion Against Fascism and Fossil Fuels which started in 2022 along with the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the 1972 Martial Law Declaration. We also regularly and actively participate in global climate school strikes and at COP as part of our international campaign efforts for climate justice.

Though these events are some of the highlights of YACAP, I actually would like to put more emphasis on our regular activities: regular educational discussions, basic mass integrations (BMIs), mobilizations, and our yearly campaigns. The daily mundane and routine activities that we do are the bread and butter that propels YACAP’s growth and the qualitative, material change that we want for society as an organization. Without these, we wouldn’t actually have the enormous support of the youth to pull off any successful project like FAFFF—big events like these are the culmination of our daily struggle that needs grit and dedication.

Describe the kind of person that joins YACAP or its member organizations.

A YACAP member will always display the following qualities: principled and ready for action. The climate crisis is an urgent issue that needs to be addressed and our members heavily recognize this fact.

What prompted you to join YACAP specifically and join a leadership position?

I was first introduced to YACAP during the pandemic, with their posts floating around my social media feed. As someone who already cared for the environment, their calls for climate justice intrigued me, so I joined to learn more. I then attended the EDs, participated in several activities as a volunteer for write-ups and pubmats, and even taught some EDs on my own. The leaders of that time saw my potential and tapped me for leadership roles, and now I’m here.

Why do you think the youth specifically are more inclined to be vocal and proactive towards issues of climate justice?

I believe it’s the recognition that we can’t dream of a future when it’s already being destroyed in the present. We are all working hard in our studies and dreaming of being good contributors to society, as our families also dream for us. Our immediate surroundings have taught us that our future is ours to build, and in this case, ours to save.

What are the most pressing issues regarding climate justice that desperately need to be addressed? What is required to address such issues?

To put it simply, I think the most pressing issues we need to address are, 1) the need to stop the proliferation of destructive practices that causes the climate crisis, and 2) the societal injustices that permit these practices in the first place.

First, we know that the cause for the climate crisis is the exploitation of the environment by a select few for profit, such as Big Oil, deforestation, land use conversion, and so on. Such practices must immediately be stopped to prevent the further worsening of the climate crisis.

Secondly, this exploitation of the environment is built upon the wider culture of exploitation of our farmers, fisherfolk, workers, indigenous peoples, and women by the Global North towards the Global South. This is through land grabbing and unequal politico-economic agreements between nations that are a product of a long history of colonialism and foreign domination. Without addressing this base of exploitation by capitalism—that some lives are more expendable than others in the name of profit—there will never be any genuine climate justice.

How does YACAP and its members perceive the interconnectedness of climate issues and other sociopolitical and economic issues in current Filipino society? How do you help others come to the understanding that it is all connected?

As an alliance, YACAP has always partnered with other sectors, especially those who are more vulnerable to climate disasters (the urban poor, the farmers, the fisherfolk, women, and children). Through these interactions, we perceive the interconnectedness of our struggles—how they root in sociopolitical and economic issues. This is also why we call for a system change as a point of unity. “There is no climate justice without ______ justice,” and you can insert a lot of things there, and it will make sense.

For that matter, why is it important to formulate an understanding that everything—climate, environment, people, justice, politics, community, issues involving class or gender—is connected and requires collective action?

It is the masses that create history. No movement can progress if it is not supported by the general public. This is why YACAP was created. We stand at the forefront of this climate movement to unite the calls of the people. We serve as a platform so others can hear the lived experiences of the vulnerable sectors, to inform and encourage other people to stand in solidarity with us, for us.

Win Or Lose, Alex Eala Is Living The Cinderella Dream

line
We 🫶 you Alex!

Even if she didn’t come home with the championship win, Alex Eala is still a winner in our books with her historic run at the Miami Open.

Related: All The Firsts Alex Eala Earned With Her Asian Games Medals Finish

Alex Eala is the greatest Filipina tennis player of her generation, and that’s not a hot take. The 19-year-old athlete has made a name for herself as a rising star in the sport ever since she began playing at the start of her teen years with a few notable wins here and there. And with her recent run at the Miami Open, Alex not only solidified her status as such, but she also lived the Cinderella story with wins that earned her even more recognition in the history books. All that before she turns 20? Ok queen, we see you.

SHE MADE HISTORY

Alex Eala will be remembered for many things moving forward, starting with her three victories over Grand Slam winners at the 2025 Miami Open. First, she defeated Jelena Ostapenko, the 2017 French Open champion and current World No. 25 in the Round of 64. Then, she bested Madison Keys, the Australian Open champion and one of the top five players in the world, with a score of 6-4, 6-2, making Alex the first Filipino to beat a Top 10 opponent since the ranking system came into effect 50 years ago.

Then, in probably the most jaw-dropping win of her run, Alex won against World No. 2 Iga Świątek, 6-2, 7-5, to advance to the semi-finals. Sadly, Alex’s journey ended when she fell to World No. 4 Jessica Pegula, 7-6 (3), 5-7, 6-3, in a match that saw the Gen Z athlete give it her all despite a few struggles and frustrations, including a slightly twisted ankle.

Still, that doesn’t diminish the many historic firsts she achieved. To name some of them: Alex Eala is the first ever Filipino to reach the quarterfinals and final four of a WTA-level 1000 event, the first player from the Philippines to beat a Grand Slam champion, the first player from the Philippines to beat multiple Grand Slam champions, the first Filipina to beat both a Top 25, a Top 10, and a Top 5 player in the WTA rankings, the second wild card ever to have 3 wins over Grand Slam champions a single WTA-level event, and the first Filipina to make it to the top 100 of the WTA rankings, where she currently ranks No. 75 (she entered the competition ranked No. 140 in the world).

ALEX THE GOAT

Alex entered the 2025 Miami Open as a wild card, and she is leaving with a newfound reputation as one of if not the Philippines’ best in the sport. She handled each win and her defeat with grace and maturity, and, more importantly, she got many Filipinos to pay attention to tennis in a way as if it were the Olympics. Alex’s impact was felt beyond the court, such as capturing the country’s attention to root for you is no easy feat, and she did all that at just 19 as she proudly represented her country. She came to Miami ready to prove something, and that’s exactly what she did. And despite the pressure she must have been in, Alex still made sure to have fun in the most Gen Z way possible, and we have no choice but to stan.

We have yet another Filipino athlete being dominant in a sport that’s not mainstream in the country, and hopefully, this could be another sign of how sports like tennis can be given their due in this country because as we can see, the talent is there and it matters when we support and nurture their talents when they’re still young. With every win and loss, Alex continues to get better at her game, and we hope she continues to get those Ws and inspire other young athletes to be the best at their own sports.
