Awaken Your Senses: Ben&Ben is Giving Us More Feels with Smart and Apple Music

Just another "Ma, may ____ na kami!" moment here.

Listening to Ben&Ben is such an extraordinary encounter, but vibing to their songs in a feels-like-they-are-just-sitting-beside-me level of music experience is almost literary.

It feels quite magical in how the folk-pop band Ben&Ben translates trivial little details of grief, pain, and doubt into a melody that soothes our aching parts. Whether it’s “Pagtingin,” which revolves around the feelings of frustration and anxiety of being into someone at a young age and being shy to go for it, or “Leaves” that talks about healing and forgiveness, or “Maybe The Night,” which alludes to special moments with others that we don’t want to slip away in time, there seems to be a Ben&Ben song for everyone.

But what happens when we’re taken on to a whole new level of listening experience? Yup, this is not your kathang isip talking! With a partnership that goes way back—from the “Inevitable” campaign song to the “Kwaderno” concert—mobile services provider Smart Communications, Inc. has made enjoying Ben&Ben music even more intense as the emotions of their songs because of Apple Music’s Spatial Audio feature.

Surround yourself with music that gives you all the feels

Apple Music’s Spatial Audio gives its subscribers an immersive audio experience with true multidimensional sound and clarity. “Listening to a song… is like magic. The music comes from all around you and sounds incredible,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Apple Music and Beats. “Apple Music as we know it is about to change forever.”

The nine-piece ensemble playing their instruments: Toni Muñoz and Andrew de Pano on percussion, Jam Villanueva on drums, Paolo Benjamin Guico on vocals, Patricia Lasaten on keyboards, Poch Barretto on electric guitar, Keifer Cabugao on violin, Miguel Benjamin Guico on acoustic guitar, and Agnes Reoma on bass.

With Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) technology that preserves every single bit of an original audio file, legions of supporters from the Liwanag fandom will be able to hear the exact same thing that Ben&Ben recorded in the studio—the energy in percussions, the romance in electric guitar, the silent cries of a violin, and the courage of beating drums. Literally lunod with feels!

New Apple TV and remote

Apple announced that there will be a new update to their Apple TV. This will be the 4th update to the device since its launch in 2012 and the latest since 2017. The new Apple TV will be equipped with a faster A12 Bionic chip. This new chip will bring with it new enhancements for the device such as enhanced picture quality, optimization for 4K streaming, and a more stable HDR frame rate. This new Apple TV will also allow you to change the TV’s color settings through your phone. The new Apple TV comes in 32 GB and 64 GB versions.

A new Apple TV also means a brand new remote as well. This redesigned version is made from 100% recycled aluminum and will come with a slate of additions such as a new wheel touchpad, a mute button, a Siri button, and a power button. The new remote will also be slightly thicker and bigger than the previous version. If you want the new remote but don’t want to upgrade your Apple TV, the new remote can be bought separately.

AirTags

Apple announced their newest device during the event which is called AirTags. An AirTag is a Bluetooth tracking device in a shape of a small circle. You can attach the AirTag to many different items such as your keys, bag, laptop, wallet, and yes, even your pet. The AirTag syncs up with the Find My app or Siri and you can use that to find your items. The device also comes with a built-in speaker so that it can play sounds to help you find it. The AirTag can be bought as a single device or in a pack of four.

New iMacs

Apple redesigned their iMac that has new specs and features. The new iMac is now powered by their internally made M1 processor. This then makes for an iMac that will run faster, run more quietly, use less power, and run cooler. At just 11.5 mm thick, the new iMac is Apple’s thinnest desktop computer yet. It also comes with a 24 inch 4.5K retina display and True Tone, a feature already available in the more recent iPhones and iPads. An improved camera, microphone, and speaker are also included. The new keyboard, meanwhile, will include TouchID so you can now sign in to your computer with your fingerprint. The new iMac will be available in seven colors: blue, green, pink, yellow, orange, purple, and silver.

New iPad Pro

Apple also announced the 5th generation of iPad Pro. This new iPad Pro will come with the M1 processor, which makes it 50% faster than the last iPad Pro. It will also be 40% faster for graphics processing so it can run console-quality games and edit high-quality 4K footage. The new iPad Pro will be the first iPad Pro to come with 5G and a version will be available where you can have up to 2 TB storage. It will also feature a Liquid Retina XDR display and have Thunderbolt and USB 4 support. The new front-facing camera will also have a new feature called Center Stage where the camera tracks you no matter where you go in the frame so it will always be focused on you. There will be an 11-inch and 12.9-inch version each with its own set of storage capacities available at launch.

iPhone 12 available in purple

Apple didn’t announce a new phone, but they did reveal that the iPhone 12 will now be available in the color purple. So, if you ever wanted to show your love for BTS with your phone color, now is your chance.

Apple Podcast Subscriptions

Finally, Apple announced that they are launching a paid service for podcasts called Apple Podcast Subscriptions.
