As we celebrate our second anniversary this November, we at NYLON Manila take a look back at all the stars that have graced our covers from Ranz Kyle and Niana Guererro, SB19, ENHYPEN, Nadine Lustre, Andrea Brillantes, and more.
Ever since NYLON Manila landed in the Philippines, we have made it our goal to be the voice of the Filipino youth. An intersection of fashion, entertainment, beauty, music, life, relevant issues, and more, NYLON Manila strives to be the go-to source for the young (and young at heart), stylish, and culture obsessed. As part of this mission, NYLON Manila has also highlighted, covered, and platformed some of the biggest, brightest, and boldest figures of the new generation. And no more prevalent was this than in our covers. As NYLON Manila turns two this November, let’s take a stroll through memory lane to see the stars that have graced our prestigious covers.

Q4 2020: THE NEW GENERATION
As the champion and go-to source for Gen Z and the new generation, it was only fitting that for our launch month, we placed some of the newest stars of the rising generation for our inaugural covers. And just like the generation they come from, these stars represent diverse backgrounds from entertainment to social media. First, there’s Andrea Brillantes who is the definition of a Gen Z star. She has been acting since she was a kid and has already made a name for himself as one of her generation’s biggest stars.
Then there’s Kokoy De Santos, a seasoned actor whose star rose significantly after he co-starred in the Emmy nominated hit series, Gameboys. In just a few months, Kakie Pangilinan became an example of the bravery and outspokenness of the youth and it was only right to include her. Finally, there is Yanyan De Jesus, one of the first local creators to truly make a name for themselves on TikTok.

Q 1 2021: NEW-GEN SUPERSTARS
For NYLON Manila’s March 2021 edition, we decided to highlight and cover some of the new generation’s biggest and most promising stars. Never one to play it safe, Nadine Lustre has stood out from the crowd and slayed in anything she put her mind to, whether it be acting, singing, dancing, fashion, or beauty. For her NYLON Manila cover, she showed a new side of herself by going blond.
Siblings Ranz Kyle and Niana Guerrero are social media superstars and have consistently dominated online both locally and abroad, especially on TikTok and YouTube. Fun fact: this was their first-ever magazine cover and was even featured in NYLON Japan. Ian and Paolo Pangilinan, meanwhile, went from up-and-coming actors to promising A-listers after their breakthrough roles in the smash hit, Gaya Sa Pelikula.

Q2 2021: PRIDE
When we celebrated Pride in June 2021, it wasn’t just about pride in the LGBTQIA+ community. It was also to celebrate pride in different fields, something that our cover stars reflected. Things got started with SB19’s red hot cover as in just over two years, they have grown to be artists recognized both locally and abroad. Markus Paterson has taken on a few acting roles before but he got his biggest and most important role to date when he became a new father. Finally, social media star Bretman Rock was, is, and will continue to be a champion for LGBTQIA+ Filipinos all over the world and is a true embodiment of pride. And that’s on period.

Q3 2021: WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?
As we reached September 2021, we dedicated the month to happiness, and who better to fit this theme for our covers than two of the most dynamic and entertaining stars of the generation. First was multi-hyphenate star Inigo Pascual who has entertained many through his singing, dancing, and acting abilities. And then we had Maris Racal on the cover decked out in a bold red wig and come-as-you-are Crocs. Not only is she a talented actress and musician in her own right, but her social media game is also goals. The contrast between Inigo’s blue and Maris’s red covers made it all the better.

Q4 2021: YOUNG, PINOY, AND ICONIC
For NYLON Manila’s first anniversary and cap of 2021, it was only fitting that we put one of the fastest-rising global Filipino stars on the cover of the anniversary issue and that was Bella Poarch. From gaining fame and attention through her viral TikTok videos, Bella has now branched out and is making a name for herself in other fields like music and fashion. Decked out in pastels and even a few Filipino designs, Bella truly rocked the anniversary cover. For our first anniversary print fanzine, we decided that Liza Soberano would be perfect for our first print issue. Sporting a blonde wig and a mix of local and luxury designers, Liza, looks stunning.

Q1 2022: DISCO DIVA
As one of the new generation’s best dancers, AC Bonifacio shined like a disco goddess for her NYLON Manila cover shoot. She channeled 80s glam, complete with glitter and sparkles, and owned the stage like it was no big deal. More importantly, the moment served as an example of just how far AC has come in her life, from dancing at home in Canada to being a globally recognized performer. This is what dreams are made of.
Q2 2022: THEY REALLY CARE
For a company who calls themselves Careless, they made sure that people actually cared for them. From its beginnings as a start-up, Careless Music how now become one of the major players in the Philippine independent music scene. And this is what our June 2022 cover lensed, the collective as the upstart noisemakers and game-changers that they are. Getting Nadine Lustre, Liza Soberano, James Reid, Massiah, Jolianne, Lesha, and Issa in one frame was a moment to remember. And of course, we finally got those long-awaited LizDine pictures.
Q3 2022: THE BOYS ARE HERE TO STAY
When it came time to launch our second print fanzine, we knew we need a special cover star. So, we went international and got a blockbuster of a cover star with the one and only ENHYPEN. As one of the biggest 4th gen K-pop boy groups on the scene, it only felt like to have the boys front the 2nd edition of the fanzine. Their catchy tracks, dynamic performances, and lovable personalities have endeared them to millions around the world, us included.
And that’s just the beginning of NYLON Manila’s journey. Stay tuned this November for the exciting plans we have in-store for our second anniversary. We can’t wait to show you what we have cooking up as we continue to platform the most important voices of the youth, as well as tell the stories of the generations to come. And of course, none of this would be possible without the support of you, our readers, who have helped make NYLON Manila what it is today. Thank you for your support and we’re excited as you continue to join us on this ride to a bigger, bolder, and braver future.
