It’s her ability to adapt and transform that makes her all the more a well-rounded artist.
Belle Mariano in a long ponytail with an edgy fringe dressed in contemporary Filipino fashion? It’s something we never thought would’ve happened as we welcomed 2023 with our first cover of the year. As cliché as it sounds, this “new year, new me” version of Belle just shows how much she’s evolved as an artist, and we’re absolutely here for it. From wearing a cropped Filipiniana to looking good in a tapis dress, Belle Mariano is now on the path to becoming a fashion chameleon as seen on NYLON Manila’s January cover.
APRON TOP BUT MAKE IT CHIC
In both old and new Filipino fashion, Belle wears an embroidered apron top by rising label Synopsiiis and a midi skirt with fringes by femme-meets-utilitarian local brand, Viña Romero.
BELLE IN THIS SCULPTURAL OUTFIT
Out of all the outfits she wore, Belle found this look to be the coolest. She wore a body morph tee made by Paris-based Filipino designer Jude Macasinag, a bubble skirt by SoFA’s Designer of the Year Le Ngok, and PVC leather boots by avant garde brand MM6 Maison Margiela.
THIS TAPIS-LIKE DRESS
Belle loved how the shapelessness of the dress made her look taller compared to her petite frame. Pictured above is her wearing British-Filipino designer, Novel Worldwide and a pair of white cowboy boots.
SHE CAN PULL OFF BIB TOPS EFFORTLESSLY
This outfit is all about proportions, silhouette, and attitude, and Belle nails it on the head. She wears a full look from artisanal sustainable brand, Bagasao Studios and classic Cortez sneakers by Nike.
BELLE AS A MODERN MARIA CLARA
Belle Mariano takes the gritty route by wearing an embroidered Filipiniana top by LA-based fashion brand VINTA Gallery and deconstructed denim shorts by self-taught independent designer Leby Le Moria.
THIS MANUALLY-CUT FAUX FUR JACKET
Upon inspecting the fur coat Belle Mariano is wearing, you’ll notice how all the lines resemble waves. This was designed and meticulously hand-cut by trans creative Leby Le Moria.
