The Emmy Awards 2021 gave more than just recognition. It honored women, queer folk, and people of color on television and the big screen.
When you’ve been invited to walk the red carpet at the Emmys, you have to bring out all the drama in the most cinematic of fashion. A lot can be said about this year’s return to full scale of the awards night, but for its surprising snubs, even for a historically diverse set of nominations, some of the highlights came from standouts such as Michaela Coel in a neon bright Christopher John Rogers look where she made history as the first Black woman to win an Emmy for limited series writing, Elizabeth Olsen swathed in an immaculate empire-cut dress made by her sisters at The Row, and RuPaul being the most-decorated Black artist since the Emmys began in 1949. Scroll down below for more of our favorite red carpet moments at the Emmys 2021—including Emma Corrin’s swimming cap, Issa Rae’s diamond grill, and of course, Billy Porter’s dramatic entrance.
