As 2022 is about to come to an end, it’s appropriate we take a look back at what went down on TikTok. Nearly every week a new viral video, sound, or trend was taking over the platform and appearing across our FY page. But there were only a handful of videos and TikTok creators who reigned on top of the list when it came to the videos we became obsessed with. And during TikTok Philippines’ Creators Night last December 18, the platform revealed just that and the results may just surprise you. Here were the videos that got everyone watching, liking, and sharing.

FYP SUPERSTARS

With the hundreds and thousands of videos that go viral on TikTok every day, the one video that reigned supreme was that from TikTok star and P-pop singer Mona Gonzales and her short cover of Suave by El Afa. The less than 20-second video she posted back in March went nuclear and has a staggering 277 million views, 41.4 million likes, 215,000 comments, and 211,600 shares. It takes the crown as the most viewed video by a Filipino on TikTok this 2022. Appropriately, TikTok also named Mona as one of the platform’s five breakout stars of the year.

The other four were Joshua Garcia, whose dance videos always get the internet talking, Christian Mae with her dancing teacher videos, It’s Stefano for his video about getting banned from a restaurant getting 69 million views, and Roce Ordonez with her always relatable and entertaining relationship POVs. Niana Guerrero, meanwhile, was named Global TikTok Originator for how her videos and dance trends often go viral all over the world. That kind of global star power was seen in her iconic Wednesday dance which is her biggest video of the year with over 139 million views and 18 million likes.

TIKTOK PLAYLIST

When it came to music, hundreds of songs went viral on the platform. But the one that became the favorite for many was the song Andrew Ford Medina thanks to its storytelling lyrics. Paro Paro G by DJ Dandy and Diwata by Sam Concepcion rounded out the top three tracks on Philippine TikTok this year. Meanwhile, Wait a Minute! By WILLOW, ZOOM by Jessi, and Cool for the Summer by Demi Lovato also landed in the top ten.

As for the artists we loved, Jong Madaliday can brag that not only did he gain the most followers this year, but he also was the most viewed Pinoy artist of 2022. Other artists who join him in the top ten include Julie Anne San Jose, Maymay Entrata, Maris Racal, and Sharlene San Pedro.
