In a little over a week, Netflix’s Wednesday series has become a cultural force that has birthed a viral dance and a revival of an underrated Lady Gaga track.

In case you didn’t know, Netflix’s Wednesday series is currently the hottest show in the world right now. In less than a week, the modern-day adaptation of the anti-hero has pulled in millions of viewers to the point where it currently holds the record for most watched English language series on Netflix. By the way, that was a record that used to belong to Stranger Things, so Wednesday Addams is definitely the moment. The darkly appealing show has a lot of things going for it, and undoubtedly one of its biggest is the star-making turn of Jenna Ortega as the titular character.

The 20-year-old actress was already on the fast track to being one of Gen Z’s newest It-girls with a string of hit movies this 2022. But the show very much solidified her status as an A-lister (as seen in her gaining over 10 million Instagram followers in just one week). And it isn’t just eyeballs on Netflix that Wednesday is attracting, but a whole cultural moment on TikTok. Even some of our fave local stars and creators are in on the Wednesday hype. Let’s take a look at some of them who’ve traded in pastels for black clothing, dark makeup, and a killer sense of humor.

NIANA GUERRERO

There goes Niana Guerrero once again being an icon on TikTok that she is. Like many of us, Niana was obsessed with the moves Wednesday showed off during that dance scene at the Rave’N set to Goo Goo Muck by The Cramps. It served as a highlight of the whole series. So, Niana decided to recreate the dance, this time using a sped-up edit of Lady Gaga’s underrated bop Bloody Mary as the song.

While Niana wasn’t the first person to use the track for a Wednesday TikTok, her video did blow up and go uber viral, racking up over 96 million views and 14.6 million likes so far. Now, the video stands as the most liked using that sound among one million videos while Bloody Mary has slowly climbed the charts again. That’s award-worthy behavior right there.

ANDREA BRILLANTES

When it comes to Andrea Brillantes, always expect her to look the part with whatever she’s doing. And her take on the Wednesday dance is no expectation. She looks so good in the braided pigtails and bangs. It completed her killer dance that was good enough to get her acceptance into the Nevermore Academy.

RAMBURAT

Wednesday Addams? No, that’s her long-lost sister, Ash Wednesday. Bonus points to Ramburat for completing the whole look, from the black dress, pigtails, and bangs, and the Thing.

SASSA GURL

Me sa school after i adapt yung personality ni Wednesday:

Sassa captured the feeling we get whenever we obsess over a show we just binge-watched. After watching Wednesday, the color black this Christmas suddenly looks so appealing. And don’t forget that deadpan and biting attitude we all know and love. This video was like if Wednesday went to school in the Philippines. The only thing that would have made this better was if Sassa had Thing walking with her as her trusty companion.

XILHOUETE

@netflixph Gusto ko lang pong sabihin na…. what would Wednesday do? Alam mo yan, Xilhouete 💁🏻‍♀️🖤 #Wednesday ♬ original sound – Netflix Philippines

Whoever had the idea of having Xilhouete star in this commercial needs a raise immediately. It’s literally a match made in heaven with the perfect drag queen embodying the right character for a witty ad. Wednesday Addams sees stalkers, and she’s not afraid to push them out of her way.
