When it was announced that LAPILLUS was going to feature a member from the Philippines, they caught the attention of many Pinoy K-pop fans since it’s rare we find Pinoy K-pop idols. Not too long since, it was revealed that the Filipino member was former Star Magic actress Chantal Videla, who goes by the stage name Chanty. Immediately, the focus was strong on the emergence of LAPILLUS. Given their background, it really was only a matter of time before the group would eventually make their way to the Philippines. And they did just that this September where the girls have been busy with their Manila promotions.

HIT YA IN MANILA

LAPILLUS made their arrival to the country over the weekend. Not only did this mark their first of what could be many visits to the country, but it also was their first trip overseas. The group, who is expected to stay in the country for more than a week, didn’t waste any time making an impression on their Filipino fans as they have rolled around Manila in style, with their very own customized bus.

Already, the group has been busy with their promotions such as holding a press conference with local media on Monday. “I’m just really happy that I get to promote HIT YA, LAPILLUS, here in the Philippines, in my home country,” enthusiastically shared Chanty. The girls are excited to be in the Philippines with the choice to travel to the country to meet their many Filipino fans. Chanty herself has had a big influence with their decision as she often shares stories of what it’s like in the Philippines to her members.

During the press con, the girls gave us a glimpse into there foray into Philippine culture so far, like some of the members trying champorado, garlic rice, and ube. They also shared what it was like filming the music video for HIT YA with Chanty saying that they had to get up as early as 2 or 3 am just to get their hair and make-up done. And for those who are wondering, no, they still haven’t decided on their fandom name so it isn’t lapis. They are still waiting on the company for the final decision, but they are appreciative of the fans’ suggestions with they have described as “funny, cute, smart, and witty.”

MEET UPS, TOUR, AND MORE

Aside from holding a press conference and having interviews with multiple local press outlets, the group has also meet some Filipino stars. The group performed HIT YA on PIE Galingnan, their first performance ever in the Philippines. Chanty even got emotional when the show played a clip from her acting days in Star Magic. We also got a P-pop x K-pop interaction when LAPILLUS met BINI with both groups dancing to HIT YA and Lagi. We love a cultural exchange.

This upcoming September 10 and 11, the group kicks of their Hit Ya Pilipinas: The Lapillus Tour by holding fanmeets at Market Market on the 10th and Ayala Malls Terraces on the 11th. LAPILLUS is also supposed to make an appearance on It’s Showtime and ASAP as part of their promotions. And note that this is just what we know of so we may be getting more surprises as the week goes on. The group is definitely making the most out of their Manila trip and we love to see it. All these activities also do help considering that this September also is LAPILLUS first comeback as they will be dropping their first mini-album, Gratata, on September 22. The LAPILLUS invasion has hit us hard, and we’re not complaining.
