Nadine Lustre has been in the public spotlight since she was a child. From being a TV host when she was a kid to the award-winning actress that she is today, Nadine practically grew up right before our eyes. But as much as some people feel like they know Nadine inside and out, the multi-hyphenate isn’t here to act like her life should be controlled by others.

As a celebrity, Nadine has her fans and supporters who naturally want what’s best for her. But at the end of the day, she is human just like the rest of us, and deserves to do what she wants in her life. This is why it’s no wonder that the internet’s president has left A-tier clapbacks to those who thought it was a good idea to tell Nadine how to live her life. Who’s going to tell them?

Here are the times Nadine was unafraid to let people know that what she does with her private life is hers to make.

CALLING OUT “FANS” WHO THINK THEY KNOW BETTER THAN HER

Sometimes, people mistake their admiration for a public figure for thinking that they have a say in their life decisions, and Nadine wasn’t having any of that. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the superstar called out her “fans” who had the nerve to call her “tanga” because they thought they could live her life better than Nadine. FYI, celebrities have as much right as anybody else to dictate how they want to live their lives.

WHEN SOMEONE CALLED HER A SNOB

Our anger issues could never. In an old interview with Edward Barber that has resurfaced recently, Nadine shared a moment where, as she was shopping in the mall, she didn’t say hi to another person in the store, causing the person to say, “suplada naman.” Aside from the fact that Nadine was out for personal reasons and therefore not obliged to say hi, she also shared in the interview that she wasn’t the kind of person to greet strangers. “I was never the type to say hi to everyone, smile to everyone, or wave because I don’t know you… People forget that we’re also people.”

CLAPPING BACK AT COLORISM

Nadine is a stunning woman, and the fact that she doesn’t shy away from her morena skin, a trait that used to get her judged when she was younger, makes it even better. But even if it’s already the 21st century, some people still think that dark skin is unattractive.

Such is the case when one person had the nerve to give unsolicited advice to Nadine and commented on her Instagram post that she should get procedures to lighten her skin. Like the queen that she is, Nadine left a one-sentence response that not only shut down the suggestion but also won plaudits on social media for her defense of the morena girlies out there.

While Nadine and her boyfriend, Christophe Bariou, have kept their relationship pretty low-key, that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from churning, with one netizen even going as far as to comment that Christophe was seeing other women behind Nadine’s back. As you can imagine, the two-time FAMAS winner responded with a scorching burn that was as hot as the sun’s surface.

“Stop trying to act like you’re concerned. You’re just another hater tryna create drama,” she said to the accusation. Nadine further shared her sentiment that there’s nothing wrong with guys having girl friends and girls having guy friends without attaching a romantic connotation to it. “Di ko kaya yung backwards mentality mo teh. It’s giving pre-pandemic.” Period!
