6 Stars Who Clapped Back To Protect Their Own Peace

line
Our anger issues could never.

Putting celebrities and public figures on a pedestal takes away from the fact that they’re human, too.

No matter how much you stan somebody, at the end of the day, they’re still human. Sometimes, in our most passionate admiration, we compromise their privacy to the extent where others feel like they have a say when it comes to their life decisions. There’s nothing wrong with loving someone from a distance (oop-) and our faves also deserve to live and breathe. So, we can’t really blame them if celebrities suddenly become “patola,” as what they call it, to some entitled people. Below, we’ve listen down all the times stars clapped back and protected their peace.

BELA PADILLA TO A FAN WHO SHOVED THEIR PHONE ON HER FACE

At the top of our list is the most recent issue with actress Bela Padilla. A few days ago, she watched Harry Styles live and much like the rest of us, sung at the top of her lungs and lived in the moment. Not until she was called out by a fan online expressing their disappointment for not being able to take a photo with her. Bela beat the allegations real quick and said, “If I didn’t TYWK, it was probably because you shoved your phone in my face.” Lest people forget, she was there as a concert-goer and not a celebrity.

MAINE MENDOZA CALLED OUT A FAN ABROAD WHO CALLED HER “SUPLADA” EVEN AFTER TAKING A PHOTO WITH THEM

If any celebrity’s a victim of boundaries being disrespected, that would be Maine Mendoza. She’s grateful for their support all these years, but it’s been a struggle dealing with others who are denial when it comes to her real relationship with onscreen partner Alden Richards despite being engaged to fiancé Arjo Atayde. Early this year, she was called “suplada” by a fan in Singapore even after they were able to take a photo with her. At this point, Maine’s just protecting her peace. As she should.

HEART EVANGELISTA TO A FAN WHO ACCUSED HER OF USING THE “ARTISTA CARD”

People just can’t mind their own business, can they? While it’s right to hold public figures accountable, it’s also wrong to accuse somebody. It’s exactly the case when a twitter user called Heart “entitled” at the airport and went as far as claiming she used the “artista card.” This left the socialite confused, but laughed it off in the end and said, “I mean I’m not an angel so far from being perfect but I’d rather say she’s so maarte!”

LIZA SOBERANO TO A CONDESCENDING FAN WHO TOLD HER TO GO BACK TO WORK

Our anger issues could never. Here’s a toxic reason why sometimes celebrities would rather not post photos of them enjoying ourselves, because some fans like to rain on their parade. Condescending comments are never welcome especially when one is on their day off. Who wants to hear “you badly need to go back to the gym” anyway? Nobody. Despite the fan expressing their “concern” for Liza Soberano’s career, it comes off more as entitlement, which is why the actress wasn’t afraid of expressing her frustration.

WHEN POKWANG CLAPPED BACK AND SAID, “ENTITLED MO MUKHA MO!”

Back in 2020, Pokwang asked her fans for help in reporting a fake account (with half a million followers) that was posing as her. She was alarmed especially when she found out that the page attempted to ask for money from other people, prompting the actress to seek help from facebook and her fans. Out of the blue, she was called “entitled.” Trust that the queen wasn’t too happy about this and fired back.

NADINE LUSTRE ON BEING ACCUSED AS A SNOB

It’s easy to get lost in translation, especially in the age of the Internet, and Nadine Lustre knows this. Last year, an old interview of hers resurfaced wherein she shared that she was called suplada for seemingly not saying hi to a fan in public. She was in a shop when suddenly a lady said, “suplada naman” despite not acknowledging Nadine in the first place. “I was never the type to say hi to everyone, smile to everyone or wave, because I don’t know you.” She then educated everyone and said, as celebrities, their only job is to “give entertainment.”
