NYLON Manila turned two this November. So, what better way to celebrate that than by throwing it back with a 90s-themed party?

November marks a very special occasion for NYLON Manila as it serves as our anniversary month. The past year for us has been a roller coaster, to say the least, with its ups and downs, and one that is worth celebrating. As such, we weren’t just going to let our birthday go by with just a simple event. We went special for our second anniversary with a party on November 22.
And because we here at NYLON Manila love to do things differently, we didn’t just have a regular party. We threw it back with the theme of the 90s given how the comeback has proven to be one of the biggest themes of the year. Here then is a rundown of the happenings at NYLON Manila’s second-anniversary party.
90S LOVE
Guests made their way to the basement of Makati Cinema Square for NYLON Manila’s second birthday party at NoKal Manila. Once guests stepped into the venue, they were greeted by a disco ball that illuminated the whole room, silver balloons, and the NYLON Manila logo at the front of the place. They also enjoyed drinks such as bottles of Heineken. Beside the main area was a GUESS photo booth that was a popular attraction of the night. It was busy practically the whole night as guests lined up to get their photo booth print outs and don some stylish GUESS denim jackets.
The theme was the 90s, so the guests made sure to show up and show out with their fits that screamed of the era. There was an abundance of denim jeans, overalls, bandanas, sports jackets, and the like. Standouts we spotted include Zoie Garcia in her simple yet chic denim overalls and Chezka Carandang in her bad-ass aviators and leather jacket from GUESS. You could say it was like stepping into the past as we celebrated our birthday.
CELEBRATING THE YEAR THAT WAS
After the guests arrived, a quick program began with NYLON Manila’s Brand Associate Elyse Ilagan welcoming everyone to the party. She then thanked the night’s sponsors for making the night possible. Elyse then called on NYLON Manila’s Fashion and Beauty Editor Lyn Alumno to introduce a special game from OPPO. Throughout the night, an OPPO x NYLON Manila disco ball was passed around as guests struck a pose with the ball and had their photo taken on the OPPO Reno8.
As shared by OPPO’s Product Marketing Manager Louie Ngo, the Reno8 is a master of taking portrait shots which is why it wasn’t easy picking a winner. But in the end, Alan Segui served the hardest and won the contest. Meanwhile, Jeyo was able to win a bonus trivia game. Their prize? Oh, a brand new OPPO Reno8 and OPPO Enco buds, no big deal. Go to a party and win a brand-new smartphone, what’s not to love about that?
NYLON Manila’s Editor-In-Chief Angelo Ramirez de Cartagena then shared NYLON Manila’s many successes this 2022 and teased what is to come in an even bigger, bolder, and braver 2023. And, as the final pasabog of the night, we revealed not one, but three covers for our anniversary month. Since we are all about highlighting what’s new, now, and next, our three cover stars were young personalities who embody that: Miel Pangilinan, Mavy Legaspi, and Kendra Kramer. Miel and Mavy were on hand for the cover reveal as they shared a few words of gratitude. Finally, everyone joined in to sing happy birthday, cake from Aegyo Cakes included.
DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY
The night ended with partying as guests took to the dance floor to move to the beats of DJ Butta B who played some of the best the 90s to get jiggy with it. And if guests weren’t on the dance floor, they were mingling with each other. In one corner, some of our fav content creators like Gaia Poly, Gigiboi, and Raiza Contawi were coming together. On another part, our cover stars Miel Pangilinan and Mavy Legaspi marveled at their photos. We even spotted a wholesome moment of Deo Cabrera fangirling over Ian Pangilinan.
And before guests went home, they got a loot bag courtesy of Careline filled with their makeup goodies and a customized Lollykiss lollipop that was a favorite among attendees.
Thank you to all our guests who came. The Totally Rad NYLON Manila anniversary shindig wouldn’t have been possible without the kindness and generosity of Heineken, Careline, GUESS, and OPPO for helping make this event possible. And most especially, thank you to our readers who helped make the past year that it was. There was a lot of celebrating during NYLON Manila’s second year, and our totally rad anniversary party captured that spirit.
