Struggling with body image and self-love isn’t easy, but Alexa Ilacad is here to stay for the curvy girls.
Being in the spotlight may sound tempting. Having the attention, traveling around the world, and meeting new people sounds like THE dream. But for someone who hasn’t passed the “beauty standards” set by the industry, it might just be hell on earth. This has been the constant struggle of breakout actress Alexa Ilacad who grew up being constantly criticized for her body.
Last year, Alexa opened up during her time in PBB about how she hated herself and was disgusted by what she saw in the mirror. She later found out that she had major depressive disorder caused by dysmorphia. We always teach people to love themselves, but it’s easier said than done, especially for girls like Alexa who admits that they never got the help that they needed.
While she’s aware that she’s still a work in progress, we’re proud to see how she’s become more confident and unapologetic of her curves. Remember when she ended a body shamer telling her to “lose” weight with just one word? The power. Scroll down to see all the times Alexa Ilacad owned her curves.
WHEN SHE WAS NO LONGER AFRAID TO POST BIKINI PHOTOS
“Work on you, for you. ?,” says Alexa when she posted this photo on her Instagram, and we couldn’t agree more. The courage to say that you’re proud of yourself might just be one of the most challenging things to do and she finally did it.
ALEXA FINALLY IN HER ELEMENT
Alexa Ilacad wearing a corset with waist snatched by the gods might just be the perfect silhouette for her hour glass figure. We love to see how she’s been seeing herself in a different light and it shows.
WHEN SHE FLAUNTED HER ABS
We stan Alexa’s dedication to working out, because look at this masterpiece. Toned arms and abs? And more than anything, she’s doing this for herself.
THAT TIME SHE WORE THIS ✨KIRA KIRA✨ DRESS
This outfit right here is Alexa in her peak diva behavior, and we’re here for it. If you want to lengthen your frame, try mini dresses with a deep neckline. (Plus points if it has the Kira Kira shine.)
ALEXA IN THIS OFF-SHOULDER DRESS
Body-hugging dresses are a curvy girl’s best friend and Alexa got the memo. From the monologue in Beyoncé’s song Flawless, “we teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller,” but we’re no longer hearing that out, aren’t we?
