That's my best friend. She a real bad b*tch.

It takes one to know one and these two prove that they’re more than just volleyball stars on (and off) the court.

Nowadays, it’s hard to find your soulmate IRL. Not necessarily a significant other in the romantic sense, but just someone who you know will be there for you in the long haul. You know, your ride or die, so to speak. Luckily, a friendship like volleyball teammates Aby Maraño and Ara Galang exists. Probably twin flames in this lifetime, they really went from being teammates, to co-MVPs then to becoming each other’s number one cheerleader even post-UAAP. They also have a term of endearment for each other! Aby calls Ara her “daughterf,” while she calls her team captain “fairy godmotherf.” A word of caution: do not mess with these two, because their tag team will always be dominant. From blocks, spikes, winning championships, to overall emotional support, Aby Maraño and Ara Galang is the type of friendship we all need.

WHEN ARA GALANG AND ABY MARAÑO BECAME CO-MVPs AT THE UAAP

For the first time in the history of the country’s premiere collegiate athletic league, Ara Galang and Aby Maraño became co-MVPs at the 75th UAAP Women’s Volleyball tournament. It was the year that they lead the DLSU Lady Spikers to a 13-1 record. Aby was awarded Best Blocker, while in the previous season, Ara was the Rookie of the Year.

WHEN THEY PROVED THAT YOU’RE STRONGER WHEN YOU HELP EACH OTHER OUT

“Miss ko na mahawaan ng super saiyan mo,” Aby comments as Ara posted a photo saying that she misses being on super saiyan mode at volleyball games. While society’s obsessed with pitting women against each other, these two have been through it all.

ABY TEASING ARA FOR BEING AN ENGLISHERA

We all have that one friend who won’t hesitate to call us out instantly. In a post shared by Ara to celebrate their coach Ramil de Jesus’ birthday, Aby teased her for speaking in English. “Taraaaayy!! Englisherist pag si coach RDJ babatiin! IBAAA,” comments the volleyball captain herself.

WHEN ARA BECAME THE BEST FRIEND WE ALL NEEDED

When your best friend is going through a nasty, painful, and not to mention, public phase, we know that all hell will break loose. Coming for blood, Ara Galang trended last night on Twitter for calling out Aby’s now ex-boyfriend. “UL*L G*GO KA,” clapping back at the PBA player for posting a photo of him with another girl. Meanwhile Aby on the other hand said, “Solid naman ng vacation nyo. Di ko alam may bago ka na?” Shots were fired. You don’t mess with these two feisty spikers, because when it comes down to it, they will always have each other’s backs, as we do theirs, too.
