August came in bursts of sunshine and rain, and we braved through it with some old and new favorites. From places that can satisfy your cravings to refreshing drinks, these food, drink, combo, and restaurant faves will have you hungry and salivating. We’re also going global for this round of picks, traveling to Vietnam, Hong Kong, and even Japan just with our taste buds. Don’t wait until your stomach growls—scroll on and find a new gastronomic fave below.

Crosta Pizza – Maggie Batacan, Editor-in-Chief

Every time I go to this little pizzeria in Salcedo the seats are packed, the standing room is suffocating, and the delivery boxes for pickup on the counter are piled high. Once you take a bite of these little masterpieces, you understand why instantly. The flavor and texture of the crust is perfection and the flavors of the toppings just hit different. The Basic B*tch and The Retiree are my current favorites. And when you upgrade to a spinach cream cheese stuffed crust – MAGIC.

Little Bao X Your Local Takeover – Raf Bautista, Managing Editor

Even if you aren’t familiar with Hong Kong’s Little Bao, this limited-time takeover was still worth the splurge. It was like American diner food with an Asian twist. The Pork Char Siu Bao was everything. But it’s the Ice Cream Bao dessert that lives in my mind rent-free with the mix of the crunchy fried Bao bun and decadent ice cream.

Vietnamese Milk Coffee – Bianca Lao, Brand Associate

For all the strong coffee loving girlies out there, Vietnamese Coffee is a game changer if you find the right beans. I’d recommend the Phuc Long Vietnamese Coffee Beans and to mix it with condensed milk. It’s a great mix of strong and sweet, and we all need that anyway!

Fat Seed’s LGBT – Nica Glorioso, Features Writer

The Fat Seed Cafe + Roastery’s LGBT (lychee, ginger, basil, tea) iced tea is a light and refreshing drink perfect for a warm summer day. The basil taste isn’t too intense, but it adds such a depth to the drink.

Drizzled Chicken Mac n’ Cheese & Butter Chicken – Precy Tan, Copywriter

I recently indulged in Drizzle Chicken’s best-selling combo of Mac n’ Cheese topped with buttered chicken, a meal that’s been buzzing on TikTok. And let me tell you, the hype was well-deserved. For just PHP 250, this meal is a cheat day dream come true. The creamy, cheesy mac n’ Cheese paired with tender, flavorful buttered chicken (with drizzle of your choice) is a match made in comfort food heaven. It’s a hearty, satisfying option that’s definitely worth the splurge.

Yayoi Beef Teppanyaki Set – Gelo Quijencio, Multimedia Artist

I love how the beef is seasoned to perfection with added freshness from the vegetables around. The set can satisfy your Japanese food cravings. It’s something I look forward to after a work day.

Couch Club Kapitolyo – Maria Sophia Andrea E. Rosello, Social Media Associate

Brent Faiyaz & Fana Hues) – Tyler, The Creator

As an avid TikTok doomscroller, I came across this cafe on my For You Page, and they did not disappoint. The ambiance was comfy despite the size of the actual cafe, with their array of couches and seats I found it easy to get comfortable while eating their to die for ‘Mac N Chz,’ which was their take on your everyday macaroni and cheese. I am still thinking about that hot bowl to this day.

Wok It Out – Jhezrylle Roxas, Marketing Intern

Wok It Out has always been my go-to spot for comfort food. The first time I tried this restaurant in Rizal, I instantly fell in love with their food. They serve authentic taiwanese cuisine and delicious dimsums. My favorite in their menu is their taiwanese chicken chops that is perfectly tender and flavorful. I’m also a huge fan of their prawn dumplings, which are generously filled with shrimp. And I can’t forget the dessert that we always order which is the molten chocolate xiao long bao. Every dish I’ve tried in their menu is so rich in flavor and so satisfying that Wok It Out has truly become my favorite restaurant for comfort food.
