Usher ate at his halftime performance at the Super Bowl, and we have some ideas as to who else would make great performers for the next one.

The Super Bowl halftime performance is one of the most highly-anticipated annual performances in Western pop culture (but its impact and influence spreads across the globe, of course) due to the prestige of holding the title of Super Bowl performer. Only a pretty well-known, highly-skilled, and capable artist and performer would be able to take on the task of performing for hundreds of millions of people watching the grand finale of American football season.

The Kansas City Chiefs won over the San Francisco 49ers with a score of 25-22 at this year’s Super Bowl Sunday, but before they cinched the championship, at halftime, Usher took the stage to bring on a silky smooth set of performances that brought all the nostalgia. Joined by Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am, Lil Jon, and Ludacris, Usher made sure his addition to the roster of Super Bowl halftime performers was an epic event.

Huge names make up the roster, including Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and more. Speculations on Super Bowl halftime performers are a perpetual, year-long experience, with people guessing and hoping for their faves to grace the stage (or field) all the time, and we’d like to throw a few names in the ring. Time to manifest.

TAYLOR SWIFT

We know, we know. Taylor Swift has rejected offers to headline a Super Bowl halftime show a few times, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still hope for her to take the stage in the future! The superstar has shown plenty of times over that she can take on any stage, from the Victoria’s Secret runway to the Grammys stage.

And with her already having major ties to the world of football as she’s dating Chiefs player Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift was a no-brainer guess to headline this year’s Super Bowl (and people have wanted her to several times over the years). The busy star could not do the show and instead attended as a supporter, but there’s always a next time!

ARIANA GRANDE

Ariana Grande’s music and vocals have made her an accomplished pop star of this generation. And while we can argue that the stereotypical Super Bowl audience probably isn’t her demographic, we know she can hold her own in a performance. Plus, how cool would it be if she brought on musical theater actors to a theater-themed performance set? From jocks to theater kids, her halftime performance would bring all the stereotypical high school cliques together.

MEGAN THEE STALLION

With a relatively shorter career than the previous Super Bowl halftime performers, Megan Thee Stallion’s just coming up at the fringes of guesses, but there’s no doubt that she’s got the talent and stage presence to make waves as a headliner. And with previous halftime shows being a group of artists collaborating together, it’s also not hard to imagine Meg joined by other icons like Cardi B, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, and more. Making the Super Bowl it-girl central would be such a power move. Megan has been on a Super Bowl ad before, so she’s definitely on the way there. She’s been manifesting it herself, too!

MILEY CYRUS

This newly-minted member of the Grammy Award winners list has been a superstar for a long time. Miley Cyrus has been a household name for decades at this point (and has shaped a generation, NBD), and with her talent, versatility, and innate superstardom, she would bring an entire football stadium of people to their feet, cheering her on.

MARIAH CAREY

Speaking of household name, Mariah Carey isn’t just the queen of the Christmas season. A vocal powerhouse and pop culture legend in her own right, the singer has been an icon for decades, her music a staple all over the world. She hasn’t performed at the Super Bowl yet, but we’d love to see her dazzle at halftime.

BTS

Global supergroup BTS being halftime performers at the Super Bowl after they return from the military would be a groundbreaking moment in music, history, and pop culture. A distinctly American cultural phenomenon, the Super Bowl bringing a foreign act as its headliner would be something amazing to witness. And we all know how electric and powerful a BTS performance is! More people need to witness the grandiosity of a K-pop and BTS performance and appreciate the different art and cultures across the globe.

BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK in your area—and the area is, hear us out, the Super Bowl. With their concepts, stage presence, singing and performing skills, and massive amounts of support behind them, the four-piece would make an iconic halftime artist. BLACKPINK has already headlined major American music festival Coachella last year, so making them Super Bowl halftime performers isn’t that big of a stretch.

What about you? Who would you like to see be added to the list of Super Bowl halftime performers?
