A Dream Come True: Miss Universe Philippines Queens Transformed Into Disney Princesses

line
Damsel in distress? Never heard of it.

Rabiya as Ariel, Beatrice as Belle, and Celeste as Cinderella? Be our guest.

When you wish upon a star, manifest, and commit to whatever your heart desires, the universe listens. Rabiya Mateo, Beatrice Luigi Gomez, and Celeste Cortesi were once wide-eyed dreamers to get the crown before they all won as Miss Universe Philipines queens. But who would’ve thought these women could also pass as real-life Disney princesses? TBH, it came as no surprise considering they’ve faced every villain, slayed dragons, and almost traded their mermaid fins in their journey as queens of the universe. So, imagine how it must’ve felt like when Rabiya, Beatrice, and Celeste all got to play as Ariel, Belle and Cinderella for a day! Like what Princess Merida said, “our fate lives within us; you only have to be brave enough to see it.” And so they did. Be our guest and check their transformation below!

In collaboration with makeup brand BYS Cosmetics and fashion photographer BJ Pascual, we’ve been blessed with the most magical visuals for the Disney collection that includes liquid lipsticks, mascara, sunscreen, eyeliners, serum blush, face masks, and brow pencils. If you’re a pop culture enthusiast just like us, it was a thrill to see Rabiya Mateo become a fully-realized siren as Ariel of The Little Mermaid, Beatrice Luigi Gomez was our favorite bookworm Belle, of Beauty and the Beast, and Celeste Cortesi as Cinderella with her chirping friends.

RABIYA MATEO AS ARIEL

Even before Rabiya Mateo bagged the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 crown, pageant fans were already telling her that she looks like a mermaid. Probably because of her sultriness, curiosity for things, and the way she carries herself with pride as an Ilonggo. In her BYS x Disney shoot styled by Eldzs Mejia, she wore an asymmetrical chainmail dress by Steph Tan that’s dripped in gold. Hairstylist Renz Pangilinan also gave Rabiya some enviable mermaid waves and makeup artist Anthea Bueno sealed the overall look with a red lip.

BEATRICE LUIGI GOMEZ AS BELLE

Get you a girl who’s a beauty and a beast all at the same time like Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez. Much like Belle, she’s been through it all. Winning pageants while completing her military training (she was promoted from corporal to General last year), you can’t deny Beatrice’s dedication to her craft. She stuns in the Disney x BYS collection wearing an embroidered cape and a gold gown by Job Dacon, bringing back the bushy brows trend.

CELESTE CORTESI AS CINDERELLA

People think Celeste Cortesi was born destined for the glass slippers, but she was not. Before winning her Miss Earth and Miss Universe Philippines titles, she worked as a model and store cashier back in Italy to help provide for her mother and sisters. Even without a fairy grandmother, Celeste was able to support herself and her family, making her a real-life Cinderella. Makeup artist Anthea Bueno even got the Disney Princess’ rosy cheeks right, along with the ethereal tendrils by hairstylist Renz Pangilinan. Props to set designer Princess Barretto for the blue birds who were the real stars of the campaign.

The Disney x BYS collection is now available at Watsons, The SM Store, and online on Amorfia, and ShopSM. The products are all paraben-free and hypoallergenic, with packaging that’s elegantly wrapped in gold. Truly fit for a princess.
