A start of a new year means a whole new set of New Year’s resolutions being made by people all over the world. And more often than not, a popular resolution for many is to get or stay fit and healthy. It’s more than okay to aspire to look and feel good, but that often means getting your butt to the gym. And for many people, they do not have time for that. Time for the gym is a luxury some people just don’t have nor is paying for a membership a priority in a time of high inflation. The demands of your everyday life can make it hard for you to live a healthy lifestyle.

It ends up becoming a challenge for you to stay healthy while going about your busy day. Whether it be work, school, or other commitments, your healthy living practices become less of a priority than more pressing concerns. This doesn’t mean though you have to say goodbye to those fitness resolutions though. There are ways in which you can shed those pounds, all without having to break the bank. Here are a few simple ways you can get your fitness in 2023 and beyond.

SPEND TIME EVERY DAY BEING ACTIVE

Aside from a balanced diet, being active also helps in staying healthy. Spend around 10-15 minutes a day being active. This does not mean that you have to go to the gym as there are a lot of exercises you can do easily. If you can walk or bike to work instead of driving or taking public transportation, do so. If your job has you sitting down for hours on end, use your break to stretch your legs and walk around for a bit. Before the day starts, do some cardio-based exercises like jumping jacks and jump rope to energize yourself.

You do not have to search far to find activities that keep you active. And if you find yourself swamped with so much work, make being healthy a part of your schedule. Do not think of it as something to do if you have free time, but actively build it into your daily routine. In this way, you lessen the chance of forgetting to do healthy things.

MAKE SOME SPACE IN YOUR ROOM FOR EXERCISE

Exercise at home

The gym isn’t the only place for you to work out. You can do your exercises in the comfort of your room. And if there isn’t enough space in your room, you can use any open space around your house where you can feel comfortable doing your exercises. That way, you don’t have to travel just to burn those calories. If you have the equipment to set up an at-home gym, then that is great. If you do not or if it doesn’t fit the budget, it is not the end of the world. You do not need to have gym-grade equipment at home, all you need is the proper amount of space.

Look for an area in your home that you can set aside as your exercise area. Make sure that it is clear of any breakable objects and that you have enough space to move around. You can also substitute weights for at-home items like food cans, water bottles, and even large-size laundry detergent. Just make sure that you use an object that is of equal or similar weight to the weights you have used before. The key is to make sure that you have proper form, and that you do the exercises the right way. And remember to take breaks and drink water in between your exercises.

Having a healthy body is just as important as having a healthy mind which is why it’s time to put that phone down and give yourself some proper shut-eye.
