In case you’ve been living under a rock, you would have known that the Superbowl of the Philippines, aka Miss Universe 2022, recently happened. Beauty queens from all over the world came together in New Orleans, Louisiana for the competition with this year marking the very first tilt under new ownership. Unlike past pageants, this year’s Miss Universe (and others to come) was looking for a woman of true advocacy who was ready to use her newfound platform to help bring about progressive change in the world.
In the end, it was Miss USA R’Bonney Gabriel, who delivered a strong answer regarding women and ageism, who took home the crown, making her the first Miss USA since Oliva Culpo (who was also there as a co-host) to win the crown. But before we got to this point, the show was filled with moments that gagged netizens, from hometown bet Celeste Cortesi not making it to the Top 16 to the fact that R’Bonney is Filipino-American. And as always, netizens processed their emotions with hilarious jokes and reactions. Here are some of the best reactions we found regarding Miss Universe 2022.

At the end of the day though, let’s remember that Celeste did her best and proved her worth. She made her country proud. There’s no need to send hate towards anyone because that’s the antithesis to what Miss Universe is all about. As this tweet sums it:
I hope Celeste will not only be remembered as the rep who ended the winning streak of PH in #MissUniverse. She is more than that. She is empowered, intelligent, beautiful and powerful.
