Do you hear that? It’s the sound of skull masks rattling in the distance, scarecrows ready to have their moment, and carved pumpkins getting out of retirement as we get closer and closer to Halloween. Party plans have been set as many are getting ready to serve with their Halloween costume(s) this year. And when it comes to Halloween parties in the Metro, no one does it quite like the Opulence Ball as their recent teaser for this year’s festivities shows many of the country’s top stars bring Mount Olympus to the Philippines.
SERVING OPULENCE
In case you need a refresher, Opulence, which was first held in 2019, is a one-of-a-kind Halloween Ball that goes all out on the decor, costumes, and guest list. The iconic event highlights the artistry and creativity of Filipinos as its masterminds and creative duo, Mond Gutierrez and Ash Rye, collaborated with the country’s top event stylists to transform a venue into an opulent wonderland filled with mesmerizing installations.
Plain and boring is nowhere near the vocabulary of the Opulence Ball, which is no wonder it has become one of the most anticipated Halloween events of the year. It marries everything we love about Halloween with glamour for an unforgettable party.
STARS OF THE NIGHT
This year, Opulence returns with the theme of a modern take on Filipino, Greek, Roman, and other mythologies. It’s a culturally and artistically deep theme to mine ideas from with possible interpretations coming in all forms, shapes, sizes, and looks. And as a sizzle of what Opulence Ball’s take on mythology and folklore will be, they recently dropped a teaser video that showcases a mythical spectacle into a cosmic realm where stars align, and glamor and fashion take on a celestial form.
Stars who we peeped serving celestial realness included Anne Curtis, Pia Wurtzbach, Julia Barretto, James Reid, Celeste Cortesi, Chie Filomeno, and Kylie Versoza. Even the constellations are jealous of how star-studded the teaser video is. And the best part? The celebs were dressed in creations by Anthony Ramirez, Rajo Laurel, Bonita Penaranda, Martin Bautista, Jerome Lorico, Patty Ang, and Job Dacion. Some of the country’s top designers presented their unique and stunning interpretations of the theme that combined Filipino craft with the cultural richness of mythology. It’s giving god and goddess energy.
“Our teaser video is a glimpse into the celestial wonders of an unforgettable night that we’ve curated,” says Mond Gutierrez. “It will be a night where fantasy and reality seamlessly intertwine.” Adds Ash Rye, co-producer of Opulence, “What sets Opulence apart is our passion for crafting fantastical experiences that transcend expectations. The teaser video features a constellation of stars, a promise of a night of enchanting fashion and alluring Filipino creativity.”
The fact that the teaser video is already serving this much probably tells us that we’re not ready for the slayage at the ball. The 2023 Opulence Halloween Ball goes down on October 31 at the Marquis Events Place in BGC, Taguig City.
