SB19 added their P-pop flair when they were tapped to sing the modern version of the Binibining Pilipinas theme song for its 2022 edition.

You can’t go wrong with the classics and in fact, most stand up decades after they were originally made. But every now and then, there’s nothing wrong with giving a modern remake or interpretation, especially if that rework enhances the original or has something worthwhile to say. These contemporary takes also have the chance to introduce a new audience to something they may have not originally known. And that is the case with SB19 and their recent team up with Binibining Pilipinas.
SB19 WINS YOUR HEART
Recently, the P-pop supergroup was given the honor of reworking the long running pageant classic theme song, which was originally made by Nonong Pedero. And the end result was WIN YOUR HEART, SB19’s modern interpretation of the track. Initially teased during the Binibining Pilipinas 2022 media presentation last July 5, we can now listen to the song in its entirety with its full release. The original is quintessential pageant fair and is the kind of song that you would hear during these kinds of events. It’s lyrics revolve around the candidates of Binibining Pilipinas and marvels at their admirable attributes, from their beauty, brains, and skills. It also holds them up as model young women of the country.
SB19’s take keeps the same message of the original and doesn’t tweak its lyrics too much. Instead, the group turns the track into a pop banger that’s more upbeat, bouncy, and bright. It feels more inviting and modern, a kind of song that wouldn’t be out of place to hear on the radio today. Pablo, Justin, Stell handle the song’s vocals while Ken and Josh switch things up by adding brand new rap verses. The vocals delivered as always while the rap verses were a cool touch. Even though it is a theme song for a pageant, it also is a track you can listen to anytime as its bright and uplifting sound and message can be a good confidence booster. Indeed, WIN YOUR HEART has won our hearts.
PAGEANT MEETS P-POP
This isn’t the first time SB19 has been part of a remake of a classic OPM song. Back in April, the group, along with BINI, joined forces for the brand new version of Kabataang Pinoy. And now, SB19 has another classic remake under their belt. Catch the digital and music video release of the song on July 15, Friday. Meanwhile, see which Binibining Pilipinas candidate wins your heart (and the judges) during the Binibining Pilipinas grand coronation night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on July 31. SB19 is also set to perform the song during the show, hopefully as the contestants strut their stuff down the runway.
