We stan a woman who knows when to speak up.
One thing about Maine Mendoza? She will always stand up for what’s right. Love or hate her, she’s definitely a woman you can look up to for putting things in a better perspective without stepping on anybody. From clocking the boomers to making her fans understand that she no longer wants to be boxed by a love team, here are all the times Maine Mendoza did not hold back.

WHEN MAINE SCHOOLED HER FANS TO RESPECT HER FREEDOM

Maine Mendoza’s brave open letter to her fans back in 2017 should be considered the blueprint for those seeking to leave anything that no longer serves them. Her statements took us on an emotional roller coaster, with people being more enlightened about the dark stories behind Philippine showbiz and how they forget celebrities have lives, too.
WHEN SHE EDUCATED PEOPLE ON DEPRESSION, BUT WAS SHRUGGED OFF BY BOOMERS

Fig. 1: Over here, we have the mental health stigma in a nutshell as told by boomers. Props to Maine for taking a stand, because you’ll never know what’s going on in someone’s head.
WHEN SHE RESPONDED TO THE MARRIAGE ALLEGATIONS WITH HER FORMER LOVE TEAM PARTNER
Maine’s message to all the delusional fans who still believe she and Alden are married (which they are absolutely NOT). Please watch this, listen carefully and try to understand her every word.#MaineMendoza @mainedcm

TBF, the girl deserves a break. Despite posting an open letter five years prior, some of the fans still couldn’t get on with their lives. In response, Maine said, “I tried calling them out a couple of times already pero ayaw po talaga nilang maniwala. Yung iba kasi kapit na kapit sila na mag-asawa kami ni Alden, na may anak na kami.”
WHEN MAINE SHARED OUR COLLECTIVE FRUSTRATION ABOUT THE COUNTRY’S SOCIAL JUSTICE SYSTEM
BAKIT KAILANGANG UMABOT DOON? Hindi ko kaya, grabe, Hindi ko alam kung ano ang mararamdaman ko pero pwede bang barilin ka nalang din sa harap ng anak mo? Sorry Lord pero sobra kasi yun eh. Sobra yung ginawa niya. Hustisya para sa mag-inang Gregorio. #STOPTHEKILLINGS

(Trigger warning: violence)
Lest people forget, Maine Mendoza is still a human being. And she has every right to air out her frustrations and feelings just like most of us. Case in point, the controversial police brutality case that happened back in 2020 when an unarmed mother and son were fatally shot in Tarlac.
WHEN MAINE DIDN’T HESITATE TO CALL OUT SOME ENTITLED FILIPINOS ABROAD
If I came off as “supladita” (as ate sales associate in Bath and Body Works Ngee Ann Mall have said to every Filipino inside the store, even to my friend) e dasurv nga naman, sana tinarayan ko na nga talaga. Bastos si SA and that group of girls. Bastos at makakapal ang mukha.
— Maine Mendoza (@mainedcm) January 13, 2023
Oh if you only know how disrespectful and entitled those ladies were, especially the sales associate, ay maloloka ka nalang talaga. By far the worst experience/interaction with kababayans abroad. Bastos.

Sometimes, we fail to remember that celebrities also have the right to decline when someone asks for a photo, especially on their days off. One instance was a Filipino in Singapore who called out Maine online, saying that she was “disappointed” she was “suplada” IRL despite being able to take a photo with her. Of course, our girl didn’t back down and exposed how “entitled” these people were to her during her trip.
WHEN SHE GENTLY MADE A PARENT REALIZE THAT A CHILD SHOULD NEVER BE ANYONE’S RETIREMENT FUND

Telling a child that they’re the only hope in order to make it in life at a young age gives them the burden of a lifetime. Maine gently reminded the female contestant during a noon time show segment that she’s still young and capable of making her dreams come true for her family. “Tsaka bata pa si Ace. Huwag nating ipasa sa kanya ang responsibilidad,” says Maine. Truly a queen.
