Chinita Princess supremacy only.
When you think of nostalgic Filipino style icons, stars like Jolina Magdangal with her kitschy hair clips or the flaming hot latex outfits of the Sex Bomb Girls may come to mind. But in the late 2000s, one queen ruled them all—Kim Chiu. Remember her brace-faced, “Chinese Cutie” days in Pinoy Big Brother? Yep, every girl in 2006 wanted to be her so bad back then because of her *kikay* style that’s reminiscent of, dare we say, Y2K legend Sharpay Evans. The girl acted, sang, and danced, too. Kim had a lot of style moments in the 2000s more than you realized, beginning from her Princess Diaries moment when she was crowned the big winner in PBB, to her pink embellished gown at the Star Magic Ball back in 2007 that defined the red carpet style of the early aughts. Scroll down below for a major throwback of Kim Chiu’s style.

1. KIM’S PINK CHIFFON GOWN
Kim Chiu has always been a doll ever since her PBB days. Her crowning moment was fully realized when she was announced as the big winner wearing a pink chiffon gown, a tiara and opera gloves. A historical moment on Philippine TV.
2. BEEN IN SPACE BUNS SINCE DAY 1
If you’ve been an avid watcher of the reality show, Kim was a big fan of space buns, pastel outfits, and dangling earrings even way back.
3. LAYERED TANK TOPS AND THE POUF
As she grew in the industry (she was only 16 when she joined PBB), we witnessed how Kim Chiu’s style evolved, too. She became a teen queen and often wore her hair in a pouf and of course, she also had to try the layered tank top trend, because two is always better than one.
4. TUMBLR GIRLS WOULD APPROVE OF THIS LOOK
Don’t even lie, you wanted to look like THIS back in the 2000s, especially with the rise of Tumblr. The fringed top, the big pendant necklace, and bangles reminded us of our Coachella mood boards way back.
5. KIM HAS BEEN IN PLATFORM SHOES SINCE 2008
As the teen queen of that time, it was only right that ABS CBN adapted the Korean series, My Girl, and gave her the lead role. This was peak Kim Chiu style, especially with her purple platform heels, chunky bangles, and dress with graphic prints that always needed to be cinched by a statement belt.
6. WHEN SHE WENT FOR A DARKER, MORE MATURE LOOK ON THE RED CARPET
Kim was always in pink outfits so it was a surprise to see that she went for a darker, more toned down outfit on the red carpet at the 2008 Star Magic Ball. The straight bangs and curly hair was THE LOOK of the time and you can’t tell us otherwise.
7. THE KNITTED BOLERO EVERYONE WANTED
You can’t talk about 2000s style without mentioning the bolero, because we’re pretty sure every girl had one. Plus points if you match it with your headband.
8. THE REAL Y2K QUEEN
The pink gown with appliques, the big curls styled into a bun and the hair accessories? Divine. No one did it like her when she walked on her first red carpet in 2007. Kim Chiu needs to recreate all of her fashion moments ASAP.
