When juan karlos released his first new album in three years, Sad Songs and Bullshit Part 1, last September, the OPM star probably imagined the LP would give a sense of comfort to those who may relate to the body of work’s themes. After all, the album is a commentary and reflection on love and loss as it follows a story of a persona speaking in a love lost, painfully questioning their self-worth and breaking down that ultimately concludes with a reformation and restoration of a renewed man. But the LP not only resonated with audiences, it did so on a mass scale, mainly thanks to the runaway success of ERE.

INIWAN SA ERE

The second track of the album, ERE is four minutes and forty-four seconds of everything we love about juan karlos, lyrics that hit extra hard about a man who felt left betrayed and vocals that bring out that pain and emotion. It’s no wonder then that the anthem has taken a life of its own, especially if you’ve been on TikTok as of late. And unlike most tracks that go viral on the platform, ERE has seen two sections of the track make the rounds.

With a push from juan karlos himself, the chorus line “Oh, di ba? Nakakaputangina” became a go-to for many to soundtrack the BS of life, whether that be floods or exuberant spending of public funds. Later in the song, the lyrics “Tatlong bilyon, ikaw lang nga ang aking gusto,” became its own viral trend on TikTok as the OST to celebrate milestones in a relationship. Two different parts of the same song that sound completely unalike without context going viral at the same time, we love to see it. Crisp cursing aside, the song also has that gave-you-motivation-but-is-not-actually-ready-to-commit energy that has us saying, ‘same’.

All that and more has led juan karlos’ ERE to not be left hanging as it has broken a slew of streaming records, both locally and abroad. Here’s a rundown of the achievements the chart-topper has earned.
