Starring Barbie Forteza and David Licauco, the latest music video from Ben&Ben can just be that missing piece you’re looking for.
One of the very special gifts that the entertainment industry gave us last year is the unexpected yet very much welcomed ship of Barbie Forteza and David Licauco. From enemies-turned-lovers as Fidel and Klay in the Gen Z historical series, Maria Clara at Ibarra, to being the adored FiLay tandem that everyone stans now, Barbie and David are truly among the hottest love teams right now.
And even if MCAI has wrapped up, we still get to experience (thankfully) the onscreen magic of BarDa, as their fans now call them, with all the exciting projects lined up for them post-MCAI. Just like in this one special BarDa ayuda from the nine-piece band Ben&Ben where Barbie and David make us believe in the power of love once again.

THE WAY THEY LOOK AT EACH OTHER
Last weekend got brighter as the most awaited release of Ben&Ben’s The Way You Look At Me cover music video finally came. The excitement for this music video was on a different level for two reasons: One, everyone was thrilled about how the folk pop band would reimagine the legendary romantic track; and second, it stars one of the most stan-worthy love teams recently, Barbie Forteza and David Licauco’s BarDa.
Produced under Universal Records Philippines, Ben&Ben’s version of The Way You Look At Me captures the same heart-fluttering essence of the iconic song popularized by Christian Bautista, who also starred in the music video. Miguel and Paolo’s heavenly vocals, per usual, are sure to tug at your hearts, gliding through the notes effortlessly. And then there’s Barbie Forteza and David Licauco making our hearts beat even crazier with their palpable chemistry and that familiar, transportive appeal that they’ve been delighting us with ever since MCAI.
“I don’t know / how or why / I feel different in your eyes / All I know is it happens every time.” Directed by Blasgil Tanquilut with concept by Jam Lucas, the MV follows David, a creative seemingly unready for love until she meets the bubbly and vibrant Barbie who will change his life and prove to be that missing piece in his heart. As with most reactions spilled on social media, it’s that way Barbie and David look at each other in every shot that is just too much to handle. Add to that that heartrending twist and THAT last dialogue scene (that you should see for yourself) and that BarDa effect becomes even more irresistible.
TEAM BARDA REACTIONS
I lost it here. Barbie’s delivery is chef’s kiss, ang galing. Truly one of the best actress of this generation.

As expected, this BarDa and Ben&Ben collab quickly rose to the charts as the most talked about topics on Twitter after its release last March 25 and the reactions were just as satisfying. While others are crying out of kilig and how “mapanakit” the video is, some are stanning over Barbie Forteza and David Licauco’s ever-reliable acting skills. Even GMA Network’s showbiz correspondent Nelson Canlas admits he’s watched the music video 20 times already.

In another Tweet where music video creator Jam Lucas reveals some of the scenes were deleted, a fan quickly responds with a request for the “uncut version.” We second the motion. Another netizen reasonably points out how the MV is like a “glimpse of BarDa on the big screen.” A BarDa film soon? We’re manifesting it already.
