The 2023 Golden Globes celebrating the best of film and television commenced on January 7, where movies and series like Oppenheimer and Succession bagged several awards. From dramas to comedies, miniseries to series that lasted six years, these Golden Globe winners offer something different for everyone—and you do have a chance to watch them and determine for yourself if their awards are well-deserved.
For this list, we’ve rounded up the winning productions at the Golden Globes and listed where you can stream them or catch them in theaters. This list will only include productions that can be watched here in the Philippines, but if productions like Poor Things, The Holdovers, or Anatomy of a Fall comes to local theaters or streaming services (which we hope they do), it will be updated accordingly.
OPPENHEIMER
1/2 of the Barbenheimer phenomenon and big winner at the Golden Globes, Oppenheimer earned itself five awards: Best Motion Picture – Drama; Best Director for Christopher Nolan; Best Actor – Motion Picture, Drama for Cillian Murphy; Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture for Robert Downey Jr.; and Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson. KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON
This Western crime drama about the murders of members of the Osage Nation in Oklahoma was nominated for seven Golden Globe awards, with Lily Gladstone taking home Best Lead Actress in a Drama. Killers of the Flower Moon can be streamed in the Philippines on Apple TV+ (starting Friday, January 12), YouTube Movies, and Google Play.
SUCCESSION
The corporate/family comedy-drama Succession concluded in 2023 to widespread acclaim. The series won four Golden Globes: Best TV Series – Drama; Best Actor – TV Series, Drama for Kieran Culkin; Best Actress – TV Series, Drama for Sarah Snook; and Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or TV Film for Matthew Macfadyen. You can stream Succession on HBO Go.
THE CROWN
Elizabeth Debicki of lauded British series The Crown bagged the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series for her role as Princess Diana. You can watch all six seasons of The Crown on Netflix.
THE BOY AND THE HERON
Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy And The Heron won Best Animated Film at the Golden Globes. Watch the fantasy film following a young boy navigating life after his mother’s passing alongside a grey heron that shows him a new fantastical world in theaters now.
BEEF
Ali Wong and Steven Yeun star in this comedy-drama miniseries that bagged three awards at the Golden Globes: Best Limited Series, Anthology, or Television Movie; Best Actress in a Limited Series for Wong, and Best Actor in a Limited Series for Yeun. BEEF can be streamed on Netflix.
BARBIE
The movie that painted 2023 pink can be streamed on HBO Go, Apple TV+, and Google Play. Barbie won the first-ever Golden Globe for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, as well as Best Original Song for the heart-wrenching What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish and FINNEAS.
THE BEAR
