Raise your hand if you ever felt that school didn’t teach you enough about how to make it as a creative. While YouTube will always be there as a useful platform, it wouldn’t hurt if there were other ways to get the tools of the trade when it comes to making it in a creative field. And with that, Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE), Metrobank Foundation, and its educational partner, Kathâ Pilipinas have got your back as those supportive and encouraging besties with an upcoming workshop made for and by creatives. Here’s what you need to know about their event, PAGSIBOL: Grow and Thrive as an Artist-Entrepreneur.

YOUNG CREATIVES, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU

For over 40 years, MADE, the visual arts and design program of the Metrobank Foundation, has been striving to champion and spotlight the talent and hard work of young Filipino artists and continuously promote Philippine art and culture. Together with Kathâ Pilipinas, an arts management initiative and creative social enterprise dedicated to supporting and promoting the Philippine creative community, MADE is celebrating its big 4-0 anniversary by giving the new generation of artists and creatives the hand they deserve.

How, you may ask? By pursuing programs that promote their growth, both personal and professional, towards having sustainable artistic careers. This manifests in PAGSIBOL: Grow and Thrive as an Artist-Entrepreneur, a one-day workshop designed to empower creatives from all fields by providing essential tools and insights to foster success in today’s dynamic creative landscape. And the best part? It’s all for free.

PAGSIBOL WORKSHOP

PAGSIBOL aims to support local creatives by offering practical guidance in navigating the business side of things, working on their branding strategies, and, most importantly, prioritizing self-care practices to enhance their sustainable growth and success. While it’s one thing to know and work on the craft, it’s another to turn that into an actual career that pays the bills. This is why the initiative looks to equip participants with holistic knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in what can be competitive creative industries. As a cool bonus, the workshop will also serve as a networking platform for creatives to connect with fellow creatives and industry experts.

CREATIVE BAG SECURED

The main event will be split into three workshops hosted by featured speakers who are veterans of the industry. The first is Daianne Moreno-Mempin, the founder of Kathâ Pilipinas. In her workshop, Business Toolkit for Creatives, participants will gain and discover valuable strategies, essentials, and tools for managing the business aspects of an artist’s career. This session covers key areas like marketing, business, and legal requirements, along with practical tips and tricks for creating a toolkit that prepares you as an artist-entrepreneur.

To help participants in the branding department and make their work stand out from a crowded industry is the second featured speaker Christian Vallez. The award-winning artist, creative, storyteller, educator, and founder of storytelling consultancy business Overmind will be hosting Branding Your Art, a workshop all about guiding participants through effective branding strategies to elevate their artistic identity, finding their artistic voice, building a personal brand, crafting narratives around one’s art, and communicating it effectively to the audience.

PAGSIBOL WORKSHOP TALKS

Of course, securing the creative bag isn’t all about the hustle and career moves. In between all that, personal care should still be a priority because you can’t be your best if you aren’t thriving mentally and emotionally. MADE and Kathâ Pilipinas know this, which is why for the third workshop, business consultant and certified life and career coach Kai Soriano-Sta. Cruz will present Artful Balance. For those struggling to find that ever-elusive work-life balance, this workshop will focus on techniques, intentional practices, time management tips, and creative rituals that nurture your art, business, and well-being for achieving harmony between creative work and personal time.

PAGSIBOL will happen on October 12, Saturday from 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, MK Tan Centre, BGC, Taguig City. For more information on the program, you can check out MADE and Katha Pilipinas’ social media pages
