Filipino-American singer-songwriter and actress Olivia Rodrigo held an ancestral home (ANCESTRAL HOME?!) concert to remember at the Philippine Arena, and beyond being a phenomenal artist, she also showed how kind, socially-aware, and generous she was by donating her concert proceeds to a nonprofit organization that ensures Filipino women and girls get the care and support they deserve.

Each ticket at her “Silver Star” show was not only affordable at PHP 1500 but also a donation towards Olivia’s initiative Fund 4 Good, which supports community based nonprofits that champion girls’ education, support reproductive rights, and prevent gender-based violence. The Fund 4 Good has funded nonprofits from North America to, now, the Philippines, making an impact on women and girls across the globe—including Filipinos supported by health nonprofit Jhpiego.

OLIVIA 4 WOMEN’S HEALTH

Olivia’s Fund 4 Good seeks to use part of—or in the Philippines’ case, all of—the profits and proceeds from her concert to finance girls’ and women’s rights, education, and reproductive health services. Through the fund, she finances and supports organizations in the countries where she performs

The singer has often shown her support for women’s rights and health at her shows, even providing free contraceptives, Plan B pills, and condoms to concert-goers. Blessing the world with your music is one thing—doing it while also directly supporting initiatives that advocate for reproductive rights and women’s health? An even bigger slay.

It wasn’t revealed until Olivia visited the Philippines, but the ticket sales from GUTS Tour in Manila went to Jhpiego Philippines, an international nonprofit healthcare organization originating in the United States in affiliation with Johns Hopkins University.

Jhpiego “creates and delivers transformative health care solutions that save lives.” In partnership with national governments, health experts, and local communities in 40 countries worldwide, the organization offers healthcare and education services for women—mothers and their children, adolescent girls in rural areas, women struggling with illnesses, and many more.

“I’m SO stoked that all the net ticket sales from last night could be donated to @jhpiego through my fund 4 good,” Olivia wrote in an Instagram post. “I got to visit the organization while I was in Manila and was so impressed by the work they are doing providing healthcare to women and girls in the Philippines.”

Jhpiego’s work in the Philippines deals with HPV screening, sex and health education, family planning initiatives, improvement in “gender-responsive and youth-friendly” healthcare training and services, and more. They offer private self-collection cervical cancer screening, advocate for women with the Sexual Health and Empowerment (SHE) program that allows families to learn about healthcare and family planning options available to them, pregnancy and infant care for adolescent mothers in Mindanao that deals not only with the physical, but the mental and emotional, among others.

With the proceeds from Olivia’s GUTS Tour in Manila, the organization can continue their work and empower more communities of women and girls who deserve to have proper care and the knowledge to be able to take control of their lives.

As the organization writes in a post, “Whether it’s navigating life’s big changes or planning for the future, access to the right information and care makes all the difference.” Olivia Rodrigo clearly believes so, too. Talk about making an impact. Check out where your ticket money went by learning more about Jhpiego here.
