With Beyond The Stars, Star Magic celebrates their 30th anniversary with a two hour spectacle featuring some of the company’s biggest stars.
2022 marks the 30th anniversary of Star Maigc. As such, the talent agency has many plans in the works celebrating the milestone. And one of their biggest this year is the Beyond The Stars tour. As its first live event of this scale since the pandemic began, Beyond The Stars is meant to showcase some of the company’s top talents in a show designed to entertain any Kapamilya.
BEYOND THE STARS
The show lineup is packed, as well as diverse. Edward Barber, Bylthe, Maymay Entrata, Kyle Echarri, AC Bonifacio, Maris Racal, Kim Chiu, Charlie Dizon, Eric Nicolas, Zanjoe Marudo, and Carlo Aquino are all part of the cast. They are joined by new-gen vocalists Gigi de Lana, SAB, Janine Berdin, Lian Kyla, and Angela Ken. Of course, Star Magic love teams are present, which is why two of the biggest love teams of today, DonBelle and KDLex, are also part of the tour.
The Beyond The Stars tour began in earnest on July 23 with its first and so far only show in Manila at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. It then transitioned to the three-date US tour, which began on August 6 at the Kings Theater in New York City. It then heads to San Francisco at The Warfield on August 12 and ending in Los Angeles at the Saban Theater on August 14. Given how it’s a 20-artist lineup of some of the brightest Star Magic acts, Beyond The Stars is a two-hour show of pure entertainment and a way for fans to see their faves in-person. In case you haven’t been to a show, were here to break down some of the highlights of the concert.
After an intro video hyping Star Magic, the show begins with an opening dance number with everyone dressed in different shades of green. Afterwards, it gives way to a vocal performance between Janine Berdin and Gigi De Lana. Next up are the solo stages from stars like AC Bonifacio, Kim Chiu, Maris Racal, and Maymay Entrata where they perform their singles and unleash their inner pop diva. KDLex and DonBelle get solo stages where they fill the theater with kilig. One highlight from the concert is an acoustic stage courtesy of SAB, Lian Kyla, KD Estrada, Carlo Aquino, and Angela Ken where they each take turns tugging at the heart strings with just a piano and guitar.
No concert that’s meant to celebrate Star Magic is complete without teleserye theme songs, which is why during the latter half of the show, there is an entire segment dedicated to some of the stars singing their rendition of classic ABS-CBN teleseryes. They all then go back on stage for one last dance number that has a little bit of a throwback theme to it. As the closing number for Beyond The Stars, everyone, dressed in their Star Magic shirts, deliver one final song number. All in all, it tries to highlight each talent of the stars as they sing, dance, and entertain a crowd for two hours all while serving looks. If ever you find yourself in LA or SF for the last two shows, you may want to get yourself a ticket.
