Klea Pineda is a name many people are bringing into conversations these days. While she has figured in several headlines over eight years of her career so far, the most reverberating was made recently, when on her 24th birthday, she came out as lesbian.
While people may now closely associate her with this liberating moment of truth, which is truly something worth celebrating, a peek into the life and career of this young actress shows that she is more than just the latest to proudly wave the flag of the LGBTQIA+ community. SHE CAME OUT ON HER TERMS
Coming out is never an easy thing to do. It gets even harder when the person is in a very public industry. After all, Philippine society is still not that fully accepting of those who identify with the LGBTQIA+ community. However, for all the fear and worry Klea had, she still came out and did so on her terms. She chose her birthday to do so and accompanied the Instagram post of the moment with a beautiful caption that spoke to the hope of someone like Klea means to others like her. “I know not everyone will understand and appreciate this decision.”
She continues in her narrative of truth, “But throughout the years, I’ve learned to prioritize the things that give joy and meaning to my life, and revealing my sexuality to the world is a huge part of it. By doing this, I hope to inspire and empower others who are still struggling to come to terms with their sexuality. Alam ko mahirap at nakakatakot, but please know na walang mali sa atin at walang kulang sa atin kahit pa magpakatotoo tayo. Marami man ang manghusga, mas marami pa rin ang tatanggap at magmamahal sa’yo nang buong-buo. Just be the person that your younger self would be proud of!”
SHE’S PROVEN HER TALENT SINCE DAY ONE
While Klea may now be living her truth, that doesn’t change the fact that she’s still a talented actress. As she says, “My sexuality is just one aspect of my life and it won’t stop me from chasing after my dreams. I am still the same Klea that you loved and supported throughout the years. The only difference now is I can proudly say that I’m gay!” Klea first landed on the map when she competed and was crowned Ultimate Female Survivor of Starstruck 6 in 2015. (That’s tantamount to winning the show.)
Fresh from Starstruck, Klea then landed a role in the 2016 revival of Encantadia, no big deal. Since then, it’s been a steady stream of projects for the star, appearing in shows like Man & Wife, Magkaagaw, Bolera, and most recently, Arabella. SHE DIDN’T LET SOCIETY FORCE HER INTO A BOX
As an actress, Klea could have easily pretended to be something she’s not. In fact, she shared in an interview with Boy Abunda that she dated Jak Roberto, Jeric Gonzales, and Andre Paras in the past to try to get into liking boys. But Klea knew in her heart that she felt a different kind of happiness when she was with a woman. Klea knew what she wanted and was confident enough with herself to be with the people she truly loves.
SHE’S A BAD-ASS ON A MOTORCYCLE
A woman who knows how to ride a motorcycle will always be a plus in our book. Aside from being an actress, Klea is also an avid motorcycle rider and often shares on her social media pages her latest adventures on her sweet ride. What makes it even better is that her girlfriend, model Katrice Kierulf, is also a rider. Aside from motorcycles, Klea also has a thing for driving race cars and hopes to be a pilot someday. She’s a woman who loves the road, and we’re here for it.

If you want to know how much of a boss Klea is, know that she was the one who made the first move in the relationship. On an episode of Updated with Nelson Canlas, Klea revealed that she first learned about Katrice on TikTok in 2022 and saw that she was a rider, too. Klea then decided to shoot her shot and reach out to her without knowing if she was into girls or not. That shot hit the bullseye considering how Klea and Katrice have the cutest of relationships, especially with the wholesome videos they share of each other on social media.
