Celebrating Pride has never felt so colorful, purposeful, and meaningful as it has in recent times, as people marry celebrations of love and identity with tirelessly advocating for safety, equality, and liberation. Every Pride Month reminds us that the LGBTQIA+ community still face plenty of hurdles to their existence. From the SOGIE Bill being in limbo at the national governance level to queer individuals still facing threats and backlash for expressing who they are, it’s an ongoing fight for freedom to love and exist.

Pride events are spaces where that fight manifests—safe, inclusive, and celebratory spaces that many queer Filipinos deem a relatively rare joy to partake in (though we should advocate for queer freedom all day, everyday). Pride itself is a protest, a resistance against norms that subject the queer community to injustice and inequality. Gatherings of queer people and allies partaking in brave, loud expressions of living and belonging—don’t they sound like the places to be?

This June, be one with the community in taking space and fighting for queer joy and liberation by partaking in Pride marches, drag shows, concerts, parties, protests, intimate hangouts, art fairs, and more. Whether you want to attend a huge, city-wide event or have a more intimate get-together with members of the community, these Pride events have got you covered. Check them out below, and block off your schedule ASAP!
