With the summer heat bearing down on us like there’s no tomorrow, it can honestly feel like you’re paralyzed to do anything. Luckily, music will always be there as an escape and quite fittingly, during week one of Coachella 2024, we find new releases from artists that will give us the highest of highs and lowest of lows. Check out some of our picks that should be on your radar below.
ILLUSION – DUA LIPA
Dua Lipa is here to remind us that the only red flags we’ll be seeing this summer are ones at the beach.
ESPRESSO – SABRINA CARPENTER
Sabrina gives us the shot we needed with this bouncy bop that just does it.
UMIINIT – LOLA AMOUR
It’s a Lola Amour song, of course the production is going to give, as heard in this funky number fit for the summer heat.
ALIENATED – ZAYN
Excuse us while we look out the window and contemplate the lyrics for one hour.
MALING PANAHON – ARTHUR MIGUEL
We all know about the fabled right time in a relationship. But Arthur is here to break hearts with his somber reminder that you can enter relationships with the wrong person at the wrong time.
UNDEFEATED – XG
XG’s collab with VALORANT sees the girl group deliver a powerful message of fearlessness and seizing the moment, underscored by a pulsating baseline, minimalist drum drum composition, and ethereal synthesizers. It serves as a rallying cry for those who dare to confront challenges head-on.
THRU2U – LUSTBASS, JESS CONNELLY, AND JASON DHAKAL
Ah, the vibes we ordered for the summer just arrived.
PANAUHIN – JUAN CAOLIE
This slow groove blends trap beats, soul, R&B elements, and themes of temptation and tumultuous relationships.
FORGET ABOUT US – PERRIE
For her solo debut, Perrie gives us a bittersweet uptempo pop song that looks back on her exes, not with disdain, but acceptance of how they made her the woman she is now.
BELIEVING IN MAGIC – ALEXA ILACAD
It’s the way Alexa’s soaring vocals match so well with the orchestral production.
HAIR DOWN – THUY
This beat though. We’ll definitely be listening to this with our hair down.
IKOT – OVER OCTOBER
If this was used in the OST for a romantic movie, it would probably be the best scene in the film.
YOU DID IT – KAIA
With swag through the roof, KAIA confidently calls out all those people who act maliciously even as they pretend to be the good guy.
DINGGIN – DANIEL PARINGIT
This upbeat song reminiscent of fun, carefree days where everything is possible makes for great road trip music.
