While David Licauco has been active in showbiz for years, it was only in 2022 that he finally got his moment in the spotlight when he played Fidel in the breakout teleserye Maria Clara at Ibarra. The role was the textbook definition of a breakthrough as fans all over the country fawned over red-turned-green-flag Fidel and his equally popular love team with Klay. It put David on the map as more people got to appreciate the actor, athlete, model, and businessman.
And among the many traits that make David adored by many is the fact that he’s a loving brother. As the kuya of the family (he has two younger siblings, James and Jean, and an older sister, Elan), David has made it no secret of his affection towards them. David isn’t the only athlete in the family. His two younger siblings, James and Jean, play volleyball and are part of the Ateneo Men’s and Women’s Volleyball teams. So, when the new season kicked off last February, you can bet David wasn’t going to miss their opening games. James and Jean can take heart in the fact that their kuya will be there cheering them on for the rest of the season.

GETTING EMOTIONAL OVER HIS SIBLINGS’ UAAP DEBUT
Seeing your siblings follow their dreams can be a lot to take in. In an interview, David revealed that when he first saw James and Jean in their Ateneo uniforms, he got emotional and stepped out of the arena since he was crying. “I have this emotional connection towards my siblings and nakakatuwa siyempre nakikita ang mga kapatid ko having fun, playing volleyball, playing the game they love. As a brother, you can’t help but be thankful and happy for them.”
He added that he keeps in constant contact with them since they’re living in the dorm, sharing encouraging words and giving mental health checkups on occasion. David has been his siblings’ number-one supporter since day one, and we love to see it.

A scroll on David’s Instagram shows that he and his mini-me James have a tight bond. Given that, it’s no surprise that David takes every birthday as an opportunity to show how much he loves him. “To my brother who has been nothing but great at whatever that comes his way, from academics to sports and everything in between,” wrote David for James’ birthday in 2020.
