In 2024, NYLON Manila was at a crossroads. But just like who we are as a brand, our Year Four was anything but bland and boring in what has been a year of firsts, major moments, and exciting changes all in the name of championing the biggest, boldest, and bravest of Generation Now. November 2024 marks our 4th year anniversary. So, as we celebrate turning four, walk down memory lane through some of our most iconic Year Four moments that had the team, and you, talking.

NEW TEAM WHO THIS?

They say new year, new me. But for us, it was more new year, new team. Our Year Four began with the end of one chapter and the start of another with a refreshed and recharged team and a new content direction that brought in new ideas, stories, and energies to our continued goal of spotlighting the new, now, and next. With a young and talented team mostly composed of Gen Z as well, we went through Year Four of NYLON Manila by bringing even more of Generation Now’s voice into the conversation.

THE LAUNCH OF THE NYLON MANILA MYZINE

We’re no strangers to the print space. But Year Four was a big one for us in that arena as we launched the NYLON Manila MyZine. More than just a regular magazine, the MyZine is an interactive magazine that combines Gen Z storytelling with customization that emphasizes curating what you want. Think the interactive teen magazines you grew up with, but revamped for a modern audience.

The star of the show is the MyZine Binder, a hard-bound three-ring binder specially designed with the NYLON Manila logo on the spine. Together with the monthly MyZine Print Packs, the NYLON Manila MyZine made collecting magazines fun again for the new generation as it put personality front and center. The MyZine Binder is yours to decorate how you want, while each print packs comes with an exciting mix of features, exclusive stories, and interactive worksheets. With the MyZine, it’s your rules, your world, and your story.

A HOT TROPIC SUMMER PARTY

Year Four was a year of firsts for us, and that included our very first summer party. During a bright and sunny two-day getaway last April, we brought the summer vibes to our summer party called Hot Tropic with a select group of influencers, content creators, and artists in Lian, Batangas. Beachfront property Araya Beach Casas played host to two days of engaging games, get-togethers, a boodle fight, an afterparty, cool freebies, and a lot more fun that made for the best summer ever. And in between all this was a reminder that having fun and responsible partying can coexist at the vacay. This was a summer party, the NYLON Manila way.

BIG BOLD BRAVE AWARDS: NEXT LEVEL

BIG BOLD BRAVE AWARDS 2024

Ever since we began our Big Bold Brave Awards in 2021, our grandest event of the year created to hero and honor the biggest, boldest, and bravest in Filipino pop culture, fashion, beauty, youth, and so much more has always been a moment. But this year’s edition, called Next Level, was on, well, another level. Taking on the theme of the arcade, we took things retro as we highlighted and championed the different levels and worlds of the Filipino youth and the heroes who inhabit them.

In a change, instead of holding all the voting in one month, we split the categories and voting in waves over five months from January to May. Not only was this the biggest BBB Awards yet in terms of the number of nominees and categories, but we also saw over twenty million votes across five months and fierce discourse on social media as fans worked to make their faves win. You guys made Big Bold Brave Awards: Next Level an experience unlike any other, and for that, we thank you.

WELCOME TO THE NYLON MANILA CAREER FAIR: THE UNIVERSITY TAKEOVER

As a platform that is first and foremost for the youth, we know that entering the adult era is not easy, especially when it feels that school doesn’t teach you what you need to know about adulting. This is why we launched the NYLON Manila Career Fair in 2021 (which was then held virtually over Zoom), as a way to help students get a better sense of what they want to do once they toss their graduation caps.

For its grand return in 2024, we brought the Career Fair to where the students were with a four-stop tour of some of the biggest universities in the Philippines. The NYLON Manila Career Fair came to De La Salle University, University of the Philippines Diliman, Ateneo de Manila University, and the University of Asia and the Pacific, as students were treated to workshops, talks, and masterclasses with experts that helped prep them for their working era. Plus, interactive booths and activities made career planning as engaging as it was informative.

Year Four was one for the books, and it was thanks to your continued support. And as we celebrate our 4th anniversary and reflect on the year that has been, we also can’t wait to show you what we’ve been cooking up for Year Five as we continue to platform the new, now, and next of Filipino youth, as well as tell the stories of what’s next for Generation Now. We don’t want to spoil too much, but let’s just say in Year Five, expect us to continue doing the content you love seeing from us, a return of some of our biggest events, and exciting new opportunities for students to have their voices and stories heard on our platforms.

And of course, none of this would be possible without the support of you, our readers and followers, who have helped make NYLON Manila what it is today. Thank you for your support and we’re excited as you continue to join us on this ride to a bigger, bolder, and braver future.
