What happens when you turn the ground floor of one of the most popular museums in Metro Manila into a hub of young Filipino creatives and give them the space to do what they do best? You get the Digital Young Creators (DYC), a Digital Marketing Association of the Philippines (DMAP) initiative last October 3 held at the Ayala Museum. The bootcamp and competition brought the next generation of Filipino creatives together for a day of insightful sessions, mentoring, and yes, partying. The Ayala Museum is no stranger to being a pillar of learning, but the vibes were giving on another level that night. Here’s what went down at DYC 2024.

YOUNG, TALENTED, AND CREATIVE

For years, DYC has been a training ground to help grow young talents in the industry, and this year’s edition was no exception. Attendees at the bootcamp were split into two groups, Very Young Creators and Young Creators, with each group having its own competition, learning sessions, and mentoring breakouts from the country’s creative captains, marketing masters, and digital leaders. The star of the show was the competition proper, as creators formed into teams and were each given a brief to hack within 48 hours, with the winning teams representing the country at international festivals.

In the Very Young Creators case, which was composed of attendees who had five years or less experience in the industry, participants were given briefs by four of the biggest brands in the country, with teams tasked to come up with a Reel catering to Filipino consumers as the desired output. Participants weren’t left on their own, though, as afterwards, they had the opportunity to get up close and personal mentoring and Q&A sessions with some of the country’s leading and most experienced figures in the industry to help them refine their executions. These multiple learning sessions and mentoring breakouts were filled with nuggets of wisdom for teams to help them with their briefs.

What made this playground for digital natives special was how it was open to all young digital professionals in the industry, no matter their position or role, all in line with DMAP’s mission to uplift and spotlight young Filipino creators.

Whether they are copywriters, designers, in-house creatives, content creators, account managers, data analysts, or more, as long as they work in the digital space, they are free to join. Just goes to show you that everyone is creative in their own way, and can contribute to the future of marketing in the Philippines.

NOW THAT’S A PARTY

Once the sun was down and the masterclasses finished, it was time to celebrate a day of hard work with an after-party, of course. If you thought the Ayala Museum couldn’t be turned into a lowkey rave, the Digital Young Creators Competition said “bet” and transformed the ground floor into a dance party. Young creatives know how to get lit, as seen with the celebration having all the things you’d expect from a fire party. A full buffet table, free-flowing drinks, cocktail bars, you name it, it was there.

Adding to the hype were not one, but three DJs that night as DJ Romano, DJ Cupcakes, and DJ Hideki brought the beats and bops to the after-party, with a full lights set-up for good measure. We honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the artifacts on the upper floors busted a move when the guards weren’t looking. And as all this was going down, the attendees also networked among each other, because they are the future of the local marketing industry, after all.

From the breakout rooms to the dance floor, the young creatives at DYC 2024 did what needed to be done as it made for a day of flexing and recognizing next-gen talent with an after-party that had Poblacion lowkey shook.
