MCDONALD’S SPICY MCWINGS AND DJ&A SPICY VEGGIE CRISPS – Maggie Batacan, Editor-in-Chief
As a person who is not a fan of spicy foods, I find the McDo wings to be delicious, even if they’re a bit too spicy for me. They’re super peppery, which is a flavor profile I like in general.
The DJ&A veggie crisps taste good, have no MSG, and the slow cook process they use keeps the vegetables in shape, so they’re also aesthetic to eat. Overall experience is great. They’re just expensive, but when you consider the process to make the chips, the pricing is only a bit above what’s fair, IMO!
ODD CAFE’S FRENCH KISS – Elyse Ilagan, Jr. Brand Manager
Other than the fact that it makes me giggle when I order a French Kiss, I like the hint of cinnamon in my coffee and the fact that it’s plant-based! I also love it when my coffee uses Oatside because I love the creamy flavor of oat milk.
KRISPY KREME’S CHOCO HAZELNUT KREME PIE – Raf Bautista, Managing Editor
This Nutella-filled donut topped with powdered sugar has become one of my go-to orders. The sweet treat is made even better with a side of their *chef’s kiss* Strawberry Lemonade.
COOPER’S MATCHA + TOKYO MILK CHEESE FACTORY CREAM PUFF – Gelo Quijencio, Multimedia Artist
As someone who has a sweet tooth, these two complement each other. The bitterness and earthy taste of the matcha latte complements the crispiness and creaminess of the cream puff. Indeed, a perfect snack combination.
POSTCEREMONY CAFÉ – Shane Sy, Social Media Associate
PostCeremony is a café and studio in one where people can take cute IG photos while enjoying their yummy drinks. I personally loved their iced matcha latte which has the right combination of sweetness and matcha flavor that suits my taste perfectly.
DRIP COFFEE’S VIETNAMESE COFFEE (CÀ PHÊ SỮA ĐÁ) – Precy Tan, Beauty Writer
Drip Coffee’s Vietnamese Coffee is strong and sweet at the same time. But also because Drip Coffee is an Instagram-worthy café, that’s why I keep coming back for more.
UMA NOTA – Nica Glorioso, Features Writer
Listen, I’m not a fancy girl. But when given the chance, I make the most of it. Uma Nota Manila opened its doors this February, and I got the chance to eat some great food at the Brazilian-Japanese bar and restaurant. Their steak? Immaculate. Rent-free in my mind. Price ranges a little higher than a “little treat”, so if anyone would like to take me back there so we can scarf down their steak, feel free to offer.
LLAOLLAO – Jasmin Dasigan, Editorial Assistant
Their frozen yogurt is so good, even without any toppings! I love how it tastes milky and not too sweet at the same time. Definitely my go-to dessert to relieve stress!
TAHANAN BISTRO – André Cesar, Art Intern
This cozy family home turned restaurant has the best views of Antipolo, the most crisp air, and an easy-on-the-pocket set menu perfect for an intimate get-together away from the city.
CAMP BARBECUE – James Jacinto, Art Intern
If you’re on the lookout for a café with an oddly-specific combo concept, then try Camp Barbecue in San Antonio, Makati, a camping-inspired cat café that also serves Korean BBQ.
