What do ABBA, Drake, and Charli XCX all have in common? They all released new music this week on the same day, that’s what. Before you head off into the weekend, here are some new music releases that you should make room for in your playlist.

Hurricane – Kanye West

In probably one of, if not the, most publicized and not to mention dramatic album rollouts in recent history, Kanye West finally dropped his 10th studio album, Donda. The 27-track album is named after Kanye’s late mother and was teased to the public through select listening sessions across stadiums in Atlanta and Chicago.

Champagne Poetry – Drake

Kanye isn’t the only rapper who dropped a highly anticipated album this week. Drake finally dropped his much-hyped Certified Lover Boy album that features a much-talked-about cover art from Damien Hirst. It’s also should be noted that Kanye and Drake have been feuding for a while now so Drake releasing his album close to Kanye’s might raise some suspicion. But at least we got new music from them.

Kapangyarihan – Ben&Ben and SB19

Ben&Ben dropped their highly anticipated second studio album, Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kuwaderno, this week. The album once again highlights the group’s musical talents and features standout tracks like Sabel with KZ Tandingan and Kapangyarihan with SB19.

Don’t Shut Me Down – ABBA

Well, who would have guessed this would happen. ABBA just announced that after 40 years of no new music, they are coming back with songs, I Still Have Faith in You and Don’t Shut Me Down. Aside from this, they are also dropping a new album called Voyage later this year. And to top it all off, they are holding a special concert on May 27, 2022, called ABBA Voyage. The concert will see ABBA’s avatars accompanied by a 10-piece live band, in a custom-built arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.

Love (Sweet Love) – Little Mix

Little Mix just dropped their latest single called Love (Sweet Love). The track was co-written by members Jade and Leigh-Anne and is a soaring pop anthem about love and passion. This is the first single of their first greatest hits album, Between Us, set for release later this year in celebration of the group’s 10th anniversary.

Good Ones – Charli XCX

While we don’t mind Charli XCX writing bops for her fellow peers, we’ve been missing solo music from her. Before any more time passed, our prayers have been answered as she dropped new music this week with the release of her single, Good Ones. The song is a pure pop bop with an addicting beat. We can’t wait to see what else this era has in store.

ex i never had – LANY

This week, LANY dropped their latest studio album, and their second of the year called gg bb xx. Along with the album, they also dropped a new track called ex i never had.

Free Woman – Lady Gaga, Rina Sawayama, and Clarence Clarity

Get ready to go back to Chromatica as Lady Gaga released the remix album called Dawn Of Chromatica. Aside from remixes to the album’s songs, it also has new features from a variety of artists like Rina Sawayama, Pabllo Vittar, Charli XCX, Ashnikko, Bree Runway, and more.

Lonely – Imagine Dragons

Imagine Dragons dropped new music this week with the release of their fifth studio album, Mercury – Act 1. The album embraces emotional extremities, holding nothing back as it tackles the high highs and low lows we face in life. The title draws inspiration from the word mercurial which is used to describe a person who is subject to sudden or unpredictable changes in mood or mind.

Araw Araw, Ikaw – DAZE, Alliyah Cadeliña, and Johnny Alegre

The 21-year-old singer and rapper DAZE just dropped his latest song called Araw Araw, Ikaw. The track is in collaboration with rising artist Alliyah Cadeliña and world-renowned jazz guitarist Johnny Alegre. Along with the song’s release, Daze also launched a TikTok campaign called #PiniliChallenge. The challenge encourages users of the platform to introduce their “tanging pinipili” in their everyday lives. Backed by TikTok Philippines, the campaign aims to spread positivity and remind everyone that there is always someone in life who has pure feelings for them.

Hate that… – KEY and TAEYEON

SHINee’s KEY released new music this week when he dropped the single Hate That… The pop track is a collaboration with Girls Generation’s TAEYEON, and their voices sound good together.

Never Gonna Come Down – Mark Tuan and BIBI

The official soundtrack from Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings just dropped this week. The soundtrack, called Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings: The Album was produced by 88rising along with the film’s director Destin Daniel Cretton. The album features a who’s who of artists like Anderson .Paak, Rich Brian, Swae Lee, Jhené Aiko, Mark Tuan, Saweetie, Audrey Nuna, NIKI, Guapdad 4000, Warren Hue, keshi, 21 Savage, Rick Ross, DJ Snake, and many more.

Outsider – BTOB

BTOB is back with their latest comeback single, Outsider. The title track is a Neo Funk/Neo-Soul song that conveys a message of encouraging people to overcome troubles in life. Along with the song’s release, they also dropped the special album, 4U: OUTSIDE.

The 90s – FINNEAS

Grammy award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer (and Billie Eilish’s older brother) FINNEAS dropped a new single this week called The 90s. The track is a heartfelt look back at a decade where things seemed simpler and a desire to return to those times. The song comes from his forthcoming debut album, Optimist, set for release on October 15.

Intoxicated (Arthur Tan Remix) – Nadine Lustre and Arthur Tan

Just in time for the weekend, Nadine Lustre and Arthur Tan just dropped the remix to Intoxicated. The track from Nadine’s Wildest Dreams album was already great, but the remix turns things up a notch. The remix is a deep house track that invites people everywhere to dance.

Something special – joan

Arkansas-based duo joan released their new single called something special. It is a vibey uplifting ode to realizing you’re in love with your best friend. The track comes from hi, one of two upcoming EP’s (hi and bye) set to drop later this year.

Sun Came Up – Sofi Tukker and John Summit

Sofi Tukker released new music with her latest single, Sun Came Up, a collaboration with John Summit. Sofi’s brand of dance music has always been about bringing people together, and Sun Came Up is no exception. It has a rapturous house track with intricate Spanish guitar work, complemented with breathy and ascendant vocals.

Love Will Tear Us Apart – David Bay

David Bay dropped his groovy indie-pop cover of Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart. Considering that his cover was given the green light by the band themselves, this is a cover Joy Division fans may want to listen to.
