PRINSIPE BAHAGHARI
The Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas is having its last run of Prinsipe Bahaghari, a puppet show adaptation of The Little Prince! Catch it this January at the Powermac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater by getting tickets here.
ORPHIE & THE BOOK OF HEROES
Ateneo de Manila University’s musical theater organization Ateneo Blue Repertory is staging their Newbie Production Orphie & The Book of Heroes this February. Orphie tells the story of an orphan in Ancient Greece embarking on a quest to find Heracles and fulfill her dreams of becoming a hero. The musical will be staged early February at the Doreen Fernandez Black Box Theater, AretΓ©, at the university. Find tickets here.
THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE
This musical about students competing in their school’s annual spelling bee is a collaboration between The Sandbox Collective, ABS-CBN, Star Magic, and Teatro Kapamilya features young artists (some of them in their first ever stage musical roles) like AC Bonifacio, Shanaia Gomez, Shaun Ocrisma, Becca Coates, and more. Spelling Bee runs from February to March, 2024 at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Black Box Theater in Circuit Makati. Get tickets here.
MISS SAIGON
One of the most popular musicals in the world, Miss Saigon is set to run in the Philippines at the Theatre at Solaire starting in March. Filipino actress and singer Lea Salonga originated the role of Kim in the first productions of Miss Saigon in London and on Broadway, and Filipino-Australian Abigail Adriano will play Kim in the Philippine production of the musical about the tragic romance between an American marine and a Vietnamese bar girl at the tail end of the Vietnam War.

Popoy and Basha are back, and now on stage! The romantic drama film starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo is being adapted into a stage musical by the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) featuring the music of band Ben&Ben. One More Chance: The Musical will run from April 12 to June 16 at the PETA Theater Center.
PINGKIAN: ISANG MUSIKAL
Tanghalang Pilipino is staging a historical musical about Filipino revolutionary Emilio Jacinto (also known as Pingkian) this March at the CCP Complex. Pingkian: Isang Musikal stars Vic Robinson as Emilio Jacinto and Gab Pangilinan as his wife Catalina de Jesus. Get tickets here.
LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS
The Sandbox Collective’s next production this year (celebrating their 10th anniversary) is the classic horror comedy rock musical Little Shop of Horrors. The musical will open July 2024.
TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS
To close out their 2024 season, The Sandbox Collective will stage Tiny Beautiful Things, an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s self-help literary anthology, on November 2024.
RENT
Classic Jonathan Larson musical Rent is currently under production by 9 Works Theatrical, and is set to hit the Philippine stage this 2024.
BURUGUDUYSTUNSTUGUDUNSTUY: ANG PAROKYA NI EDGAR MUSICAL
Parokya Ni Edgar’s music is taking center stage in Buruguduystunstugudunstuy, a musical about four women’s journey of “self-discovery, resilience, and unbreakable bonds.” Newport World Resorts Musicals and Full House Theater Company will start ticket selling on January 26th.
JEPOY AND THE MAGIC CIRCLE
Based on short story The Magic Circle by Gilda Cordero-Fernando, this original production follows Jepoy and his magical adventures. The play will run starting September 2024.
SIX THE MUSICAL
The tales of the six wives of British monarch Henry VIII come to life in this incredibly fun, anachronistic and modern rock musical. Six the Musical will premiere in the Philippines for the first time in October 2024 at the Theatre at Solaire. Can you say queens?
