Any Bernos, or teacher Ayn, shared that she wants people to know that you shouldn’t always think about yourself when you post on TikTok and other hacks.
It goes without saying in the past year or so, TikTok has exploded into one of, if not the most popular social media sites in the world. The short-form video-sharing app has become one of the hottest apps to be one where regular people can go from just another subscriber into social media stars. During the first ever NYLON Manila career fair, content creator Ayn Bernos was on hand to share what it takes to make the most out of TikTok. It’s clear that many of you wanted to know too as hundreds of you guys participated in Ayn’s talk. Here are some of the most important lessons we learned in Ayn Bernos’s talk at the NYLON Manila Career Fair.
IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO START SOMETHING NEW
Ayn revealed that she only started using TikTok in December 2020. Like most people in the past year, she got on the app because she was curious. Within her first month on the app, Ayn reached 100,00 followers. Despite the relatively late start, she has gained millions of views and nearly a million followers and counting. These days, most of her content is about self-development, confidence, and morena pride on her main account. On her second account, Ayn pero Tagalog, she teaches English words explained in Filipino (she has a degree in the English language and taught in Spain). That account too also blew up and has over 2.5 million followers.
She said that it wasn’t too late for her to start making content on TikTok. In the same way, you’re never too old to start something new or try something different from what you are doing now. It’s never too late to start something new as Ayn Bernos shows. Don’t let age or time stop you from branching out and expanding your horizons.
IT’S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU, IT’S ABOUT YOUR COMMUNITY
Ayn shared that a key to success on TikTok is to always listen to and think about your audience and community. Think of something worthwhile that you want to share with your followers because there is something always worth sharing. Ayn wants to spread goodness with her account so most of her content is inspirational and uplifting. Share or talk about something you feel the community would appreciate, learn, or be made better by. Don’t feel the need to have everything revolve around you because it shouldn’t.
AUTHENTICITY IS KEY
The first time Ayn dabbled in content creation was when she made a YouTube channel in 2016. She shared that one of the things that stopped her from truly taking advantage of the platform was that she felt that she needed to be perfect. She wanted the videos she posted to be polished and have zero mistakes. But she realized that shouldn’t be the case. When you share things, don’t be afraid if it isn’t perfect. Ayn says that authenticity is key, and you shouldn’t pretend to be someone else. Let your personality shine because your authenticity will be appreciated on TikTok.
