Liza Soberano isn’t just beauty and talent. She also has a heart of gold and has used her platform to help and inspire others.
Liza Soberano is one of the biggest stars of her generation. She is a box-office draw and one of the most beautiful faces not just in the country, but in the world. But Liza is so much more than just a pretty face. She is also an outspoken actress who isn’t afraid to use her voice to speak up on certain issues. For some celebrities that have reached a status like Liza’s in their career, being that outspoken might seem like a no-go territory, but Liza isn’t afraid to speak up when she has to.
Especially in the last two years, Liza Soberano has highlighted important issues that need to be discussed, used her influence to give a voice to the voiceless, and started meaningful conversations. She is hopeful of helping bring real positive change to the world. Her real name is Hope after all. With that being said, here are just a few times Liza Soberano used her platform and voice to help make the world a better place.
SHE HELPED RAISE OVER P500,000 FOR CHARITY
All because of you guys, I have the best fans with the best hearts ❤️❤️❤️ https://t.co/8j1LLdfcjn— Liza Soberano (@lizasoberano) August 3, 2021

The couple even held a virtual fan meet where proceeds went to the donation drive. The money raised was used to help families during the pandemic.
SHE CALLED OUT HARMFUL DEPICTIONS OF MENTAL HEALTH IN MEDIA
Really hoping that this movie will spread awareness and enlighten us on the struggles of dealing with mental health. But the poster? It’s a no for me. Mental health is NOT a joke. Stop the stigma. pic.twitter.com/EHndPS2khs— Liza Soberano (@lizasoberano) February 8, 2021
Liza doesn’t play when it comes to mental health. So, when she sees people making fun of it, she isn’t one to keep silent. Back in February 2021, Liza took to Twitter to call out the poster for the movie, Tililing. The poster showed the cast sticking their tongue out while making weird faces. Liza wasn’t here for the outdated depictions of mental health.
SHE HELPED FORM A COMPANY DEDICATED TO MENTAL HEALTH
Mental health is an important cause for Liza. It’s so important to her that she, along with fellow stars Nadine Lustre, Yassi Pressman, formed Mind You. The new company aims to provide Filipinos with easier and affordable access to mental health experts, as well as help destigmatize mental illness in the Philippines. Liza is actually currently studying for a degree in psychology and is hoping to use that to help people with mental health problems.
SHE URGED SENATORS TO RAISE THE AGE OF SEXUAL CONSENT IN THE COUNTRY
In case you didn’t know, the age of sexual consent in the country is 12 years old making the Philippines one of the countries with the lowest age for sexual consent. Many people called for the age to be raised and one of those people was Liza. As an ambassador to Save The Children Philippines, she shared a video on her social media pages imploring senators to pass the “End Child Rape” bill, which would increase the age of consent to 16 years old. The bill did pass in the Senate, but has yet to be signed into law.
SHE SPOKE UP AGAINST INTERNET-BASED CHILD ABUSE
I am ENRAGED. I saw so many videos online that absolutely broke my heart. An innocent man got shot, a teacher went to jail, and multiple street vendors. Is anyone doing anything about this??? https://t.co/qW9knmcSIE— Liza Soberano (@lizasoberano) May 14, 2020
One of Liza Soberano’s major advocacies is ending online child abuse and exploitation, especially now that it has been easier for predators to reach out to children digitally. Among other things, Liza quote tweeted a tweet from Senator Rise Hontiveros that showed screenshots of people selling child pornography on Facebook. She also invited her followers to join her in a seminar about online child abuse. There, she talked about the importance of her speaking up and how we can help end the abuse.
SHE TOOK A FIRM STANCE AGAINST THE RAPE COMMENTS MADE AGAINST HER
This all started when Liza tweeted that she was unhappy with her current service provider and decided to switch to a new one. While this alone caused a minor scandal, things took a turn for the worse when screenshots were shared of an employee of Liza’s former internet service provider commenting on Facebook rape jokes about the young star. While some people might have kept their heads down or addressed it in private, but Liza addressed it head-on. She filed a criminal complaint against the person who left the comment for the rape remark. One thing to know about Liza is that she never backs down.
SHE’S AN ADVOCATE FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN’S ISSUES
With all the philanthropic and charitable efforts Liza Soberano has done, it’s clear that she cares about women and children’s issues. She has in the past expressed how other celebrities and influencers should use their voice and speak up on these important issues. During a Gabriela Youth webinar on October 13, 2020, Liza talked about her advocacies and the importance of speaking up. Her participation in the seminar actually got her red-tagged, believe it or not.
SHE USES HER PLATFORM TO SHED LIGHT ON INJUSTICES
For most personalities and celebrities with big followings, being vocal about a lot of issues is usually avoided. But not for Liza Soberano. She speaks her mind on social issues and understands the importance of using her platform. A scroll through her Twitter account alone shows you that she speaks up when she has to. Among other things, she showed her support to the ABS-CBN shutdown, Black Lives Matter, called for justice for Jennifer Laude, amplified donation drives, called out fake news, shared stories of regular people getting abused and mistreated, and more.
