She came, she slayed, and she conquered. Liza Soberano let the world know that she has arrived in Hollywood.
It seemed as if it was only yesterday when we first heard rumors that Liza Soberano would appear in her very first Hollywood movie. Now, two years after her casting for Lisa Frankenstein was announced, the movie is finally here. With that, it marks an exciting new chapter in Liza’s career, her Hollywood era.
For a while now, Liza has made it known that she wants to explore new opportunities in her career, and Lisa Frankenstein is a manifestation of that. “It’s the kind of movie I’ve always wanted to do. It has horror, comedy, and romance in one. I was looking for a role that would really push me. Sure, it’s a huge risk for my career, but that’s what’s exciting about it. I know I’ve learned a lot no matter how it turns out. That’s what counts,” Liza shared in a statement. And it’s clear all her hard work paid off.
Liza, who plays Taffy, the step-sister of the lead character Lisa in the 80s teen horror rom-com, has been met with praise for the dynamic and layered performance of the popular but kind cheerleader. She came to Hollywood to prove a point, and that’s exactly what she did. Scroll down for a few highlights of Liza’s romp through the city of stars. Trust us, it won’t be her last.
PRESS TOUR REALNESS
Like with any Hollywood star promoting their new movie, Liza embarked on a press tour that saw her be interviewed by major titles such as Buzzfeed. She also did promotions with Asian-American-focused brands such as Next Shark and One Down Media, a nice touch given Liza’s place as a new Asian-American actress on the Hollywood scene.
A particular highlight of Liza’s Lisa Frankenstein press tour was guesting on Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen’s podcast Broad Ideas, where she talked about one of her biggest advocacies, mental health. Needless to say, she was booked and busy.
RED CARPET ROYALTY
One of the many things we love about Liza Soberano is that she doesn’t miss when she walks on red carpets and attends major events. And she brought that energy when she walked the red carpet for Lisa Frankenstein.
As her first Hollywood movie, expectations were high for Liza to make a great first impression. And that she did as she looked stunning in her Oliver Theyskens dress. While it was a busy day for the superstar, Liza looked good throughout as she basked in her worthy achievement that may very well open the doors for future Hollywood projects. And if you’re wondering, yes, Enrique Gil has seen the movie, and he loved it.
