The dress code was Glam Rock and they obviously sold ✨ the show✨
After being postponed for two years, the annual MEGA Ball came back with a bang. It has been a big year for music so far, and so has it been for the glossy magazine, hence the official dress code, “glam rock.” As soon as we heard of the theme, our mind was already spinning with music icons like David Bowie, Olivia Rodrigo, and Debbie Harry that all had the boldest looks ready to be recreated on the red carpet. And of course, the attendees were also encouraged to rewind, rework, and reimagine their looks, so props for the sustainability aspect as well.
From Alex Diaz to Kelsey Merritt, here’s a rundown of the stars that had us on a standing ovation as they rocked the night away at the MEGA Ball.

1. NADINE LUSTRE
The viciously stunning Nadine Lustre graced us with her presence in an alluring scorpion dress designed by Job Dacon. Inspired by her zodiac sign, this is also the first time that she walked the MEGA Ball red carpet with her fiery red hair.
2. ALEX DIAZ
Alex Diaz ALWAYS gets the memo. In his last ball, he wore a maximalist piece matched with a golden armor. This year, he went all out with his gold chainmail top adorned with a hundred gold crucifix by Kiki Tan. We’re absolutely here for the Bon Jovi moment.
3. MIMIYUUUH
From Dalagang Filipina to It-girl real quick, we’re a witness of Mimiyuuuh’s style evolution throughout the years. Last night, she stunned in a leather and silver hardware look by Thian Rodriguez. Can we talk about the hair a la Hinata, too?!
4. KELSEY MERRITT
The Filipina Supermodel didn’t come to play. Even for a short trip, Kelsey Merritt made sure that she’d stand out for the MEGA Ball. She wore a sheer mini dress with padded shoulders and a deep neckline by Retro FĂŞte.
5. BJ PASCUAL
Did somebody say glam rock with a twist? Fashion photographer BJ Pascual rocked it out in a vintage Balenciaga by Nicholas Ghesquiere Spring Summer 2006 runway look, which he didn’t acquire in one go. In his IG stories, he revealed that he coincidentally bought it on different occasions. Lucky.
6. CATRIONA GRAY
We love queens who know how to switch it up! Veering away from the ball gowns, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray wore a denim cropped jacket covered with rhinestones and had frayed sleeves paired with a skirt that were once part of a trench coat reworked by Dia Ali. Pop star era coming through!
7. EJ NACION
Content creator EJ Nacion’s look was reminiscent of a young Madonna, taking cues from the 80s and Thierry Mugler’s iconic embellished insect dress from the 1997 collection. The best part? It was entirely made out of beads from left-over materials by Ushi Sato.
8. ANJI SALVACION
PBB Big winner Anji Salvacion went classic with a feathered slip dress and latex gloves. An outfit that grunge queen Courtney Love would definitely wear on the red carpet.
9. JAMES REID
Straight from of LA, James Reid looked every bit the dapper in a red velvet suit designed by Nina Amoncio. The gold stack of jewelries were the perfect contrast to the warm hue of the suit.
10. RURU MADRID
“Permission to shine,” captions Ruru Madrid in his Instagram post. Everything about this whole look was astounding from the sleek hair, the pale pink choice of color, and glitter from head to toe. Can’t deny that he’s one of the most well-dressed young men in Philippine showbiz.
11. REI GERMAR
Content creator Rei Germar as Cher? That’s on queen behavior. Her rhinestone gown for the MEGA Ball was made by Carl Arcusa, which was a very Cher choice of reference. She even wore her hair long, too!
12. JUJIN SAMONTE
If anything, Jujin Samonte always stands out in a room full of people with his bold choices when it comes to fashion. The contributing editor of MEGA Drag wore a Mich Dulce hat, Damir Doma robe, Comme des Garcons leggings and a matching chainmail head piece by Miguel Aquilizan that screamed punk rock.
13. ALDEN RICHARDS
Alden Richards showed his brooding side last night at the ball, wearing a suit carefully lined with crystals by Francis Libiran. Is it just us, or are we getting off major Christian Grey vibes from Alden’s ‘fit?
14. PIA WURTZBACH
Is it even a ball without Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach? Absolutely not. If her dress that night was familiar, it’s probably because it was inspired by the one she wore during her Binibining Pilipinas days. The amount of detail she puts out in every look is amazing. Plus points, because she did not only one, but two looks!
