Young Filipinos are taking over the global music scene, as proven by yet another talented young artist joining the roster. South Korean reality competition Universe Ticket saw 82 contestants compete for a chance to debut in a new eight-member girl group to be under newly-established company F&F Entertainment. The girl group, like many other survival show project groups like I.O.I or ZEROBASEONE, will have a limited promotion period of two years and six months. During the survival show’s ninth episode, it was revealed that Elisia Parmisano, 14-year old singer and actress, ranked first overall and ultimately became the first member of the group. Congratulations, Elisia!

Elisia joins Sophia Laforteza as one of the most recent Filipinas to headed for a sure debut after winning K-pop survival shows—and the first ones in the lineup to be announced as members of their respective girl groups. Elisia has been an aspiring artist for most of her life, and she’s sure to make some waves in the music and entertainment industry real soon. For now, here are a few fun facts about the young idol trainee.

SHE WAS ONE OF THREE FILIPINO CONTESTANTS

Back in July, when the contestants’ identities were being revealed, we learned that three Filipino girls will be competing on Universe Ticket: Elisia, a former Starship Entertainment trainee, 16-year-old Gehlee Dangca, and 18-year-old Aya Natsumi, who was eliminated in the sixth episode. All three entered the competition as independent, individual trainees not under any K-pop company. Gehlee is currently ranked second in the contestant lineup, and looks to have a good chance in joining Elisia, making for the possibility of two Pinoys in one group.

SHE’S COUSINS WITH HORI7ON’S MARCUS

Guess being talented and driven to be a global idol runs in the blood. Elisia is cousins with Marcus Cabais, Filipino singer, actor, and youngest member of global group HORI7ON. The two, both 14, share talents in singing, performing, and acting. They’ve even performed together! HORI7ON, who debuted 2023, was also created from a survival reality show by ABS-CBN and MLD Entertainment, Dream Maker.

SHE’S ALSO AN ACTRESS

Just like her cousin Marcus, Elisia dabbled as a child actor before competed in a survival show to be part of a global idol group. The then-10-year old Elisia portrayed Rachel, one of the girls that got into a fight with Amber (Krystal Mejes) in 2019 soap opera Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit. She also trained under Star Magic, and got to perform a scene as Kathryn Bernardo’s Joanna or Anna from Way Back Home (2011).

SHE SECURED HER DEBUT BEFORE THE SHOW EVEN ENDED

Earning high praise and the advancing to the highest ranking of P in the show’s ninth episode, Elisia secured herself the first member slot in the new girl group, the first out of 82 contestants. Voting was based on judges’ (called Unicorns) votes as well as fan votes.

SHE’S TAKEN TAEKWONDO LESSONS

Like plenty of other Filipino kids, Elisia took up some martial arts, which no doubt lent to her physicality. Elisia on her YouTube channel posted a quick video showing her Taekwondo sparring competition and promotion test, and it’s clear that the skills, discipline, and lessons learned in taekwondo will be valuable to her journey as an idol.

AND YES, SHE’S GOT TALENT IN SPADES

There’s plenty of reasons why Elisia secured a spot in the lineup of the upcoming girl group. It’s primarily because she’s got talent down to her fingertips. The young artist can not only sing and dance live (and look cute while doing it), but she also has an enthusiastic stage presence that’s wowed the judges and audiences week after week in Universe Ticket. We can see why she’s all set to debut.
