Again, supporting other women is peak queenly demeanor.
The measure of a true queen goes beyond victories, and the top two contenders for Miss Universe Philippines, Celeste Cortesi and Michelle Dee, have proven it in spades. As we all know, the winner who bagged the coveted crown this year was Celeste Cortesi, the Filipino-Italian beauty from Pasay City who also won Miss Earth Philippines in 2018. She’s been consistent from beginning to end, doing what she knows best, and owning it in every challenge.
First runner-up Michelle Dee on the other hand previously won Miss World Philippines 2019. A strong front-runner in the competition, she became a fan-favorite and also bagged more than five awards at the preliminaries. Just like that, it was a showdown between the Earth and the World, making it one of the most intense face-offs in Miss Universe Philippines history. But it wasn’t as “competitive” as most people wanted it to be like. After all, Celeste and Michelle revealed that they had a strong bond all throughout the pageant run.
From Michelle fixing Celeste’s crown to being her number one cheerleader, here are all the times they were BFF goals.
1. MICHELLE BELIEVED THAT IT WAS CELESTE’S DESTINY
“No one can take her destiny away from her because she is queen well-deserved and a true friend for that matter as well,” says Michelle Dee as she penned a heartfelt message to Celeste Cortesi of their winning moment. Of course, she had the sweetest reply.
2. SHE HELPED FIX HER CROWN AFTER THE CORONATION
“Always going to have Celeste Cortesi’s back.” Get you a BFF like Michelle Dee that will help you fix your crown every time!
3. MICHELLE IS AN INSTAGRAM GIRLFRIEND
Most of her fans know that one of Michelle’s hobbies is photography. Here’s the woman in action, doing everything to get “the shot” in Boracay.
4. THEY LIKE TO HUG IT OUT DURING BREAKS
Before Celeste’s winning moment, the queens like to hug it out backstage despite being nervous and anxious for the next turn of events. Free Miss Universe hugs for everyone!
5. THEY GOT TO KNOW EACH OTHER EVEN MORE DURING THE COURSE OF THE COMPETITION
“Both of us could’ve carried the crown with so much pride,” and she’s right! During her TV guesting, Michelle shared to everyone how she really felt in that moment with Celeste during the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 finale. They were both at the edge of the seats, but in the end, she believes that sisterhood over rivalry will always prevail.
